What to Look For in a Guild by xx__pixiestix__xx | |
GUILD HEADQUARTERS - With the title being said, I am sure you can guess what this
article will be about and what kind of information it will provide you. We have
had numerous amounts of 'How to Create a Good Guild' articles, and in the past
3 weeks not a single article about the guildless people who don't want to make
a guild or simply can't make an appealing one. If you are one of these people
and can't decide a guild to join, this article will help you. Aside from trying
to find a guild, if you are trying to make one, this article could certainly help
you out, too.
Firstly, if you are one of the guildless Neopians, the very first step is
to know where they are advertised. The Guild Message board is a great place
to find guilds with your interests and active members, and maybe someone could
be wanting to help make someone a guild? You may want to ask them about it,
because if you have a helping hand a guild can be a greater success than you
think. When I did this, we had 33 members join our guild in one day. This proves
two heads are better than one. If you are forbidden to go to the chat boards
because you are not old enough and haven't had parental permission, then you
may want to just simply browse through the neighborhoods, or of course, the
notice board is always there for you too. Most of the time, great guilds will
be advertised there.
Now that you know where some of the great guilds can be located, the next
step is of course to know what to look for to make sure it is a great guild.
The layout is the first thing to look for. Make sure the layout is organized
and easy to navigate to other guild-related links from. Guild layouts don't
always have to be a blog, They can simply be an image with an introduction under
it along with all the guild links. Original layouts are the best pick. Make
sure to check to see if the layout matches the theme of the guild. You wouldn't
want to join a Baby Neopets guild and find out the whole thing has to do with
a famous singer, would you? Even if you like the layout and it doesn't have
to do with the theme, don't join the guild, because whoever made the layout
(Which is most likely the leader) probably doesn't know how to manage a guild,
and doesn't know where their head is either. Just to make sure you don't get
sick of the guild, ask the leader how often the layouts change if at all, and
if the amount doesn't suit you, look for another guild to join. Remember, there
are thousands, maybe even millions of guilds for you to join.
The #1 thing to watch out for, though, is the members and council. The guild
should be active and friendly, and be there to help you. Make sure to notice
of the guild likes to spam, because once you join and try to introduce yourself
on the message board, and there are all these short posts like 'hi' and 'I have
a dog', you won't have a clue where to start because you don't know what anyone
is talking about. The messages should be at least 3 lines long. I will write
down some examples of messages.
Bad: hi ppl I like dogs
Good: Hello everyone, I am (name), and I just love dogs and I hope some of
you share the same love of dogs with me. I have 2 of them, and they are named
___ and ___ and their breeds are ___ and ___. Some of my favorite breeds are
____, ____,_____,and ______. Please let me know if you are interested in dogs
too! It was very nice meeting you all, please reply!
The first message was bad because it is too short; it is annoying and takes
up space on the message board. They also didn't introduce them self properly.
The next message was longer, it showed more compassion for their liking of dogs,
and introduced them self properly. When you join a guild, neomail the leader
to introduce yourself. If they reply back saying thanks and introducing them
self and telling you a little bit about the guild, this is a responsible leader
who will manage the guild well. Take note of the day the guild was made. Suppose
it was made today, and the council was already chosen. This means council wasn't
chosen carefully and the council could very well be nasty or even a scammer.
You might not want to join a guild like this.
Next, the guild shouldn't be all about competitions. If the guild has 5 competitions
or more, don't join. The members who joined are probably just there for the
competitions, not for anything else, and they won't be active or friendly they
will just be busy trying to win these competitions. Never, EVER join a guild
with raffles or lottery. These are most likely scams to try to get more neopoints.
For example, if a guild said they were having a raffle for a hidden tower item,
and you had to buy a ticket in a shop, you are being tricked if you don't even
see the item in the shop and if the tickets are around 5,000 neopoints or more.
It could be around 1,000 and still be a scam though, so watch out. For your
safety, just don't participate in these kind of things.
It is a very good idea to join a guild that has a set of rules to follow.
This makes the guild better, and it lets you know the guild is managed well.
You should always join a guild that follows every rule of the Neopets terms
and conditions, too. It lets you know the guild is safe and managed great. Some
guilds say they follow the terms and conditions, but they may not. They may
just be saying that so they can have a better chance of scamming someone, so
keep an eye out for that.
With all this being said, you should have some sort of a picture or an idea
of what to look for in guilds. All of the things above are great things to look
for, but they are still my opinion. So let's look at other Neopian's opinions,
because they can help you out, too.
Band_on_the_roof: Guild Activities, Friendly Members, Active Guild
Kandy_kittie76: What band_on_the_roof said, and also if it is about something
I'm interested in. Like, I am in a Harry Potter guild because I like Harry Potter.
I would not join a guild about Dragon Ball Z because I'm not into DBZ, but other
people might be.
Starwarsnut91730: Guild Activities, active members, fun stuff, links to cool
places.
Jamiegirlroxdaworld: A guild with nice, active people, and contests. It shouldn't
have too many people though, because I don't want to be overwhelmed and have
no one hearing what I say.
Elianorra: I look for nice people, active; have a lot of fun activities and
such. I know when I put up messages, no one helps me, but I help other people...
Now, from these opinions, do you have an idea of what to look for? Guaranteed
everything in this article is true, because if guilds have these features, they
are a great guild. Guilds don't always have to do with giveaways, competitions/contests,
and other things like that. It is about the members and management and what
was mentioned above. Thanks, I hope my article helped you!
Note: I got the permission from all the people in this article to have
their name in The Neopian Times. They may not remember it though because this
was a long while ago O_O
