"Yes foolish child, it is I, the great and all powerful
warlock -- Hubrid Nox!" The evil blue Chia laughed, a deep, evil laugh so evil
it made Star tremble in fear. "Oh now you're gonna get it!" whooped a voice.
Star looked up and screamed when she saw a ghost
Draik floating inches from her head.
"Hey, can't you see I'm a little busy at the
moment here, Lambert?" Hubrid said.
"Oh, I'm terribly sorry my Lord. It won't happen
again, I promise," the Draik apologized before disappearing into the wall.
Hubrid glanced back at Star, who was now more
frightened than ever.
"Wha-wha-what do you want with me?" Star asked,
still trembling.
"Don't give me that! You know perfectly well
why you're here!" spat Hubrid.
"Um -- actually, no I don't..." Star mused.
Hubrid's evil grin was replaced by a frown.
"You -- you mean to tell me you have no idea at all why I tricked you into coming
here?"
"Uh -- yeah..."
"Oh, then let me explain..." Hubrid walked up
to Star until his face was only inches away from hers. Star stared at his gleaming
white fangs.
"Do you have any idea the powers you posses?"
"No..."
"Well, to make a long story short you posses
powers your simple little child mind could not comprehend, and that is the exact
reason I must..." He paused, then looked at Star in the eye. Star thought she
saw his eye gleam. "...dispose of you."
Star glanced away from Hubrid's gaze for a moment
to look at the unconscious Darian. "What do you plan on doing with him?" she
finally asked.
Hubrid followed her gaze. "What do I plan to
do with your friend? He is of no use to me anymore, so I suppose I will dump
him into the moat. The Gulpers haven't been fed in days..."
"You're a monster!" shouted Star.
"Why thank you, that's the part I was going
for," thanked Hubrid.
Hubrid snapped his fingers (don't ask me how
he did that if he doesn't have fingers, I frankly have no idea) and his ghost
Draik servant Lambert appeared before him.
"Yes my Lord? How can I be of service to you?"
Lambert said as he kneeled before the great warlock.
"Dispose of that Shoyru by dumping him in the
moat," Hubrid ordered pointing to the lifeless gray Shoyru.
"Noooooo!!" yelled Star frantically. She tried
to run over to Darian to protect him but Hubrid gripped her arm tightly. "Ow,
let me go!" she yelled as she tried to shake Hubrid off her, but he was surprisingly
strong for a Chia.
She felt helpless as she wretched and squirmed
to get free while Hubrid laughed maniacally at her struggle. Star suddenly remembered
her training and what Azuxah had taught her. She focused on Hubrid and sent
him flying into the wall. Hubrid shook his head and stared at Star in disbelief.
He should of expected this, but he didn't realize she was this powerful. "What
the - ?" But before he could finish his sentence he was thrown into the floor
by an unseen force. While Hubrid staggered to his feet Star grabbed the lifeless
Darian and tried to fly out the door, but was stopped when something grabbed
her tail and threw her into the wall.
"Do you think you can escape the great Hubrid
Nox so easily?" said Hubrid. "No, but I'm not going down without a fight," Star
huffed, trying to think of something heroic to say.
"Well you're wrong! Even as powerful as you
are, you cannot beat Hubrid Nox!"
"We'll just see about that," Star quipped.
Hubrid jumped into the air, preparing to attack.
"No we won't!" Star flew into the air until she was eye level with Hubrid. Hubrid
started chanting a spell with his deep voice and a glowing ball of black and
dark purple energy formed between his hands. He flung the energy at Star, but
Star dodged it with ease. "Yawn, is that the best you can do?" she taunted.
Hubrid's eyes glowed dangerously red and he
continued to throw energy balls at Star, and Star dodged them all. At this point
Hubrid was getting a little agitated. "That's it, you! It's time I showed you
what real power - with the proper planning and a little psychosis - can really
do!" Star tried to attack, but Hubrid was much faster. He attacked her at full
force, sending the Shoyru falling to the stone floor. Hubrid swooped down and
admired his work.
"Yes -- YES! I knew I could do it! Without its
protector, Neopia is mine to control!"
"I don't think so."
Hubrid turned around. "Who the heck are you?"
asked Hubrid.
"Your worst nightmare," replied a mutant Scorchio.
A fire Wocky stood next to him. The Wocky gave him a weird look. "What was that,
Nerakos?"
"What was what?"
"That!"
"That what?"
"You said, 'Your worst nightmare'. That was
SO cliché..."
"Hey, don't mock my puns, Zukoni!" retorted
Nerakos.
While the two quarreled over bad puns, Hubrid
grinned evilly and faced them. "Well, whoever you are, I don't care because
you're all going to be dead soon!" Hubrid attacked, but Zukoni was fast. He
counterattacked Hubrid and bashed him with his head. Nerakos held up his hand
for a high five. "That's using your head, man!" said Nerakos as Zukoni slapped
his hand.
Star was finally coming to. "Ughhh... what happened?
Oh no - where's Darian?"
Nerakos grabbed Star while Zukoni picked up
Darian. "Come on, let's get out of here before anything else happens!" said
Nerakos. Zukoni kicked open the large wooden doors and they ran down the staircase.
Hubrid got up on his feet and turned to Lambert. "What are you doing?! You let
them escape!" he shouted. "Well, whatever you do, don't let them - "
Hubrid looked out the window and saw the three
Neopets running for their lives into the Haunted Woods.
"... leave the mansion," he sighed.

Zukoni, Nerakos, and Star didn't stop running until they reached their home
on Guild Street. Steph was sleeping on the Fancy Sofa in the living room and
snoring very loudly. Nerakos shoved Steph off the sofa and set down Darian in
her place.
Now awake, Steph got up off the floor and stared
at Nerakos furiously. "Hey, I was sleeping there!" she yelled.
"Steph, make yourself useful and go get an ice
pack or something," Nerakos ordered.
"Oh fine." Steph stomped reluctantly into the
kitchen to find an ice pack while Star kneeled by Darian, who was still laying
unconscious on the sofa.
"Please let him be okay," Star whispered.
"Here's your ice pack, Mr. Bossy Pants," Steph
said miserably when she walked in with the ice pack. She suddenly noticed the
lifeless Darian lying on the sofa. "Hey, what's wrong with Darian? And where
were you guys?"
"We'll explain later, just give me that ice
pack," demanded Star.
Steph gave her the ice pack and Star placed
it on the Shoyru's head. "What do you think is wrong with him?" Zukoni asked.
"He's under a spell."
The pets and human glanced at Azuxah the Zafara,
who was casually standing in the kitchen doorway. "You will need magic to cure
him."
"Well where are we going to find magic?" asked
Nerakos.
"A-hem!" coughed Azuxah.
Everyone stared at Nerakos. "Heh heh, right
-- well, do whatever it is you need to do," said Nerakos.
Azuxah turned to Darian and placed her hand
on his forehead. She chanted a few strange words under her breath and removed
her hand from his forehead.
Darian stirred. His eyes fluttered open and
he abruptly sat up. "Ahhhhh!! It's Hubrid Nox!" he screamed.
"Darian, calm down -- he's gone," reassured
Star. "Oh... what a relief," sighed Darian. "That guy was beyond creepy! Say,
what's going on here, anyway?"
"You wouldn't believe us if we told you," said
Zukoni.

Somewhere in the Haunted Woods an evil Chia sat in his throne, staring out
the window at the full moon. "Someday, StarDustie... someday I'll shall have
my vengeance! Someday!" Then he turned to his servant Lambert, a ghost Draik.
"Come, my servant... it's time we began plotting our revenge..."
