GAMES ROOM - Looking around the Neopets site I see a lot games that involve gambling. Now while
some people may shake their heads and avoid these games all together because of
the gambling aspect, I'd like to say that they're not bad so long as you know when
to stop gambling. Believe me, knowing when to stop is the hardest part of all!
This is no different for Black Pawkeet Slots, you win and then you lose it all,
at least that's the impression I get from some of the people I've been talking
to and from my own experiences.
Now the aim of Black Pawkeet Slots is to get 3, 4 or 5 of the same picture
in a row and for some rare pictures you only need to get 2 in a row. Depending
on what you choose to do, you can bet on up to nine lines, which will increase
your chances of winning with each spin but it does cost a little more. You can
also choose how much to bet and just to make things interesting there are a
few special things that you can spin up, wilds that will act to complete any
set and a mini game.
Small Wins
This includes the bronze dubloon, the silver dubloon and the golden dubloon.
Small wins will only earn you Neopoints if you get three or more lined up in
a row. It's harder to line that many up but everything is sort of evened out
because there are so many of them. When I say so many of them I mean you can
have a screen full of them, unfortunately you can also have a screen full of
them but not actually make any lines!
Big Wins
This includes scattered treasure, the plank picture, tankard of grog, the
Pirate Krawk and the Black Pawkeet. I've called these big wins because you can
win by only spinning two in a row. It sounds good but there are far less of
them than the dubloons so you're less likely to spin them. But to be fair if
you can get three, four or five of them in a row you'll win really big.
Special Bonuses
There are two special bonuses in the game. The first is the Pawkeets, if you
spin 3, 4 or 5 Pawkeets up and they don't have to be in a row, you'll earn a
big NP bonus, more depending on how much you've bet. The second is the Treasure
Chest, if you spin 3, 4 or 5 of them and once again they don't have to be in
a row, you get to play the mini game. For the mini game you click on map pieces
to see how many Neopoints are underneath, for three chests you get three clicks,
for four chests you get four clicks etc. If you're really lucky you may even
find a dubloon, which is good for all those people who used to get their dubloons
from Deckswabber; Neopets has come good and given you another way to get them.
Wild
The little blue flag with a Black Pawkeet is called a wild because it can
be substituted for any other picture. For example you may have two Gold Dubloons
and a Black Pawkeet Flag in a row, that's the same as three Gold Dubloons. Also,
the Black Pawkeet Flag can overlap lines and be two, three or four things at
once helping you to win even more on each spin, but it's about as rare as the
Big Win pictures.
Jackpot
Also, like any good gambling game there's a huge jackpot that you could win.
To win the jackpot you need to get five scattered treasures in a row, this can
of course include the wilds - one lucky person won the jackpot with one scattered
treasure picture and four wilds!
To give you an idea of the scoring here's a summary table. The winnings listed
here are for a stake or bet of 1 NP (how many lines you are betting on is irrelevant)
if you are betting more simply multiply by your bet (make sure you look at the
'stake' box not the 'total' box!)

**These haven't occurred while researching this
article so sorry, I don't know.
Now that you understand how the game works it's fairly easy
to work out a game play strategy to make sure that you gamble in an intelligent
way and stop yourself from gambling your winnings away.
Bet/Stake: One of the first things to understand is that you're not
going to win on every spin, so the bets on spins where you don't win are lost.
With this in mind small bets are better. However, just to be difficult for the
majority of pictures the higher the bet the more you'll win. But since it's
all relative to your bet and the bigger wins are harder to get overall it is
better to bet smaller. That way you get more spins for less NP. The other bonus
is that while the other pictures are reduced, when you spin up Treasure Chests
to play the mini game you'll still earn the same amount of NP whether your stake
is 1np or 50 NP.
Lines: Obviously (I hope) you want to give yourself the best chance
possible to win, so apart from getting all of your lucky charms and draping
them across your keyboard and monitor betting on nine lines is the best way
of increasing your odds of winning.
When to stop playing: This is the last thing to think about. The best way
to restrict yourself and to make sure you don't gamble away all of your Neopoints
is to set yourself a limit. I recommend putting all of your Neopoints in your
bank account and then playing a game of Meerca Chase (and other game will do
just as well), then use that amount of Neopoints as your limit. That way when
you run out of Neopoints you stop.
To stop yourself from gambling away your winnings if you have a big win, or
get to twice or three times what you began the game with, stop, open a new window
and deposit half your Neopoints in your bank account and keep playing. This
should stop you from gambling away Neopoints that you shouldn't!
In summary, bet small on the maximum number of lines and limit the amount
of Neopoints you have to gamble with. I really hope this article helps you make
a profit out of your gambling exploits or at least stops you from going bankrupt.
While researching this article I chatted with some really nice people and I'd
like to thank them all for answering my Black Pawkeet Slots questions. Special
thanks go to: ohyeahimhere, typodemon666, _tj6155_ and celticdragon37 for their
help.
