The little blue Kau sat there in the window of the pet store watching all the
Neopians walk past in their daily hurry. He wondered as he sat there if he'd
ever be bought. Lots of pets had been brought in and bought up right away. It
seemed that all the cute little fuzzy ones were the first to go. No one hardly
paid him two seconds of attention. No one wanted Kaus that much, they weren't
that cute…or fuzzy. At least he had a corner window in the Pet Shop where he
could look outside. As he sat there, he could see a Neopian Times laying on
the sidewalk where someone had dropped it in their hurry. The headline said,
"New Looks For Pets: Spotted Kaus and others Now Available!!" The little Kau
sighed and looked down the street with a small tear in his eye. He'd never be
so lucky.
A pretty girl with long brown hair, blue jeans and a cowboy hat was walking
up the same street in amazement. She was new to this place and everything was
so different from where she had come from. She was from the country, a little
town where everyone knew everyone. She kept bumping into the other Neopians
and tripping over the smaller pets. There were Chias of all shapes and sizes…and
fruits, Zafaras, Cybunnies, Jubjubs, and countless others that she had almost
fallen to her face over. She didn't have a pet; she wanted a special one…one
that fit her background, lifestyle, and personality. None of the ones that she
had seen fit her liking. She stopped at the corner to get her bearings…this
city was so big! As she started to walk down the street, a yellow Meerca dashed
between her feet and the girl tripped. She couldn't catch herself this time,
and she landed face first on the busy sidewalk. Luckily she landed on an issue
of The Neopian Times that someone had carelessly dropped. The girl sighed and
sat up. She looked at the headline on the paper: "New Looks For Pets: Spotted
Kaus and others Now Available!!" The girl thought, "Those are really cute!!
That's what my pet will be!!"
As the little Kau was looking out his corner window, he saw a yellow Meerca
run between the feet of a pretty cowgirl. The girl tripped and fell onto the
sidewalk. The little Kau sat next to the window with a curious look on his face
and his head tilted to one side as he watched the pretty cowgirl. He saw her
sit up and read the headline on the paper that she had fallen on. It was the
same one he had read before. He watched her eyes light up as she read. As she
looked up, her brown eyes met his big blue Kau eyes and she smiled.
The girl looked up and right into a pair of big blue Kau eyes. A smile spread
across her face when she saw that he was paying attention to her. She got up
and walked over to the window, knelt down, and put her hand on the glass. She
said hi and smiled again.
The little Kau watched in amazement as the pretty cowgirl got up and came to
his window. When she put her hand on the glass he pushed his nose on where her
hand was. He smiled and when she said the word hi, he said it right back. She
made the motion to say, "One minute" and got up and walked around the corner.
His little heart raced…was this his lucky day?
The next thing he knew, the shopkeeper was unlocking the door to his cage and
when he looked up, the pretty cowgirl was standing there with a smile on her
face. The little Kau smiled and his little Kau tail swayed happily. "You go
on now Kau," said the shopkeeper, "its your lucky day." The little blue Kau
couldn't believe his big Kau ears…he was actually going home!!
The pretty cowgirl walked out of the Pet Shop doors with the little blue Kau
following at her side. The shopkeeper had told her that she could get a newbie
pack and had told her where to go. Looking at the piece of paper he had given
her, the cowgirl figured out where she had to go. "Come on sweetie," she said
smiling at her Kau. The little Kau followed at her side.
They soon found the Newbie Shop and gave the shopkeeper the ticket. She handed
the cowgirl a little bag with some items in it. "Thank ya," said the cowgirl
with a smile and they walked back out of the store. The cowgirl led the little
blue Kau to a little apartment (where all NeoPets & their owners stayed unless
they owned a house). She sat down on the old beat up chair and the little Kau
sat in front of her. "Hmmm…now to name you," the cowgirl said to the Kau. "How
about KC_country?" The little Kau smiled, he liked the name KC. "Sound good?"
the cowgirl smiled, "you know what the KC stands for?" The little Kau shook
his head no. Laughing, the cowgirl said "Kenny Chesney! You're a country Kau
with a country singer's name!" The little Kau smiled and his tail swayed from
side to side.
The cowgirl showed KC around the little apartment. By this time, it was late
afternoon and KC was sleepy. The cowgirl helped him up onto her bed and quietly
walked out of the room.
During his nap, KC woke up a little and he overheard the cowgirl on the phone
with someone. "You don't want it?!…..Oh, I see…..I can understand, some of em
don't look right certain colors….you're sure?….Oh Thank You!! He'll be so happy!!…OK,
I'll talk to ya later…thanks again…uh huh…bye now." She hung up the phone, quietly
picked up her keys, and softly closed the door to the apartment.
The pretty cowgirl was home when KC fully woke up. It was dinner time and she
had gotten some omelette. It was only plain, but it was still good. They ate
dinner and then the cowgirl went into their newbie pack and pulled out a green
Fuzzle toy. KC's eyes lit up with excitement. They played with the Fuzzle for
over an hour. Later they sat on the couch and watched the little TV. KC fell
asleep with his head on the cowgirl's lap.
The next morning, the pretty cowgirl woke KC up and told him to follow her.
He didn't know where they were going, or what she had in the bag. Navigating
the streets at this hour was easy. There were few Neopians around. KC followed
at the cowgirl's side. Soon they were in the center of town. The cowgirl stopped
and put a little blindfold on KC's eyes. She told him it was a surprise where
they were going. He followed her and trusted her 100%. They walked into some
sort of shop and KC heard the cowgirl give someone something. They walked into
another room and KC was put up on a table. KC felt something moving across his
fur. It was soft and smooth. The feeling was nice. He figured he was getting
groomed. Soon the brushing stopped and he was let down off of the table. "OK,
you ready sweetie?" the cowgirl's voice asked. KC felt her untying the blindfold
and as it came off his eyes he couldn't believe what he saw. He was SPOTTED!!
A huge smile spread across his face! "I'm So Lucky!" he thought!
The next few days were wonderful. The cowgirl and Spotted KC played games to
earn Neopoints. They played Nimmo's Pond, Kiko Match, Destruct-O-Match and Kacheek
Seek. Once a day they would take a trip to Mystery Island and play Tombola.
Slowly but surely their Neopoints increased.
One day, the pretty cowgirl left KC at home to play. She said she was going
to the auctions. KC wondered for what, but she wouldn't tell. Throughout the
day, people were dropping off furniture. First came a straw table, then a chair,
a sofa chair, a bed and then finally a couch! KC didn't know what to do! There
was no room in the little apartment to even move with all the furniture in it!
Soon the pretty cowgirl came home and they took their things to the bank and
put them in the deposit box. KC still wondered what was up.
A few more days later, the pretty cowgirl came home with a slip of paper in
her hand. "KC…guess what?! We're MOVING!!" the pretty cowgirl smiled! "I bought
us some land on Mystery Island!! We're gonna have our own HOUSE!!" she laughed
and smiled. KC's little tail swayed from side to side and he had a huge grin
on his little Kau face.
"I knew it!" he said to himself, "I AM the luckiest Kau alive!!"
