A Guide to Winning Trophies #7

GAMES ROOM - So you want to win some nice trophies to impress your friends, eh? This week’s article is about NeoQuest, Fetch, and the Dark Faerie Quests/Illusen’s Glade.

NeoQuest

This game requires some luck, a little thinking, and a ton of patience. This is the only RPG on Neopets. You control the hero and you must defeat the evil Jahbal. You start off in town where you can heal, make some weapons, or make some armour. Picking the right skills to begin with is very crucial when you are playing on InSaNe difficulty. When you start, go fight some weak monster near town and gain 6 levels then head into the caves. In the caves, level up to at least 10 or 11 before you fight Xantan. The pattern is the same throughout the game: level up, beat a boss, and get new weapons and armour. Here’s a little warning: On evil difficulty, there is another boss after Jahbal. If you die while fighting this boss, all of the creatures will disappear and you will not be able to find any more potions. This problem doesn’t exist on Insane because you have to restart the game in you die. You can play NeoQuest here.

My strategy: I like to use life magic and shock magic. I pick a shock magic wand until the very last one. The Moonstone Staff (life) is the last life weapon you can get and it heals 4 hp every turn and can sometimes heal 45. Additional strategies can be found at http://www.neoquestmaps.com

Fetch

This requires a bit of patience and a lot of luck. You control the mutant Blumaroo with the Tentacompass. The object is to find the requested food and then find the exit. The levels are always square. You will always start by the edge of the level. You can tell when you have reached the edge of the level by looking at the size of the walls. If there are 2 rows of walls with no space to walk in between them, you are at the edge of the level. The food that you have to find is always in the centre of the level and the exit is always along the edge of the level. The exit can either be in the middle of the edge, or at the corner of a level. The food you are looking for is impossible to miss because it is so brightly coloured. To pick up the food, simply walk onto it. Many people don’t know this, but there are more than just 3 difficulties. There are 5 difficulties. You can unlock them by getting consecutive wins on the hardest difficulties you can play. The high score system takes consecutive scores, not just single game scores. If you lose your game, you get to keep your score, but you can’t add on to it unless you get a better score. The Neopoint values for the difficulties go like this: (these are only approximate)

Easy: 200

Medium 500

Hard 1000

Insane 1500

Fiendish 3000

These are the amount of NPs and score you get for completing the difficulties. You can play Fetch here.

My strategy: I play on Fiendish until I beat it once, then I play Insane to raise my score even more. As for actually playing the game, I try to keep myself directed to the middle of the level, because I know that’s where the food is. After that, I try to find the closest edge and follow it until I find the exit. Another strategy I found works is to find the exit first and then find the food. That way, you can just retrace your steps to get to the exit.

Dark Faerie Quests/Illusen’s Glade

Here’s a game you can play if you are a rich Neopian. This game requires a lot of luck and a lot of NPs. Jhudora’s Cloud can be found here. Illusen’s Glade can be found here.

To play, accept Jhudora’s/Illusen’s quest and find the item she asks for. When you have it, go back to that page and give it to her. The higher the quest you are on, the higher the rarity of the item will be. After 28 on the dark Faerie quests and after 35 on Illusen’s quests, all of the items they ask for are rarity 99.

Here is a list of prizes you get for completing Jhudora’s quests:

1: Poisonous Lollypop
3: Noxious Nectar
5: Jhudora's Brush
8: Purple Blob Potion
11: Jhudora T-shirt
