TROPHY CABINET - So, you're interested in winning trophies eh? Well, today's article
will help you with Mutant Graveyard of Doom, Swarm, Pyramids, and Sakhmet Solitaire.
Mutant Graveyard of Doom
This game requires a lot of skill and some luck. The object of this game is
to avoid the enemies and collect all the food on each level. I played this game
when it first came out and I looked at the items. I saw that the Apple Lantern
was worth 1000 points! I then looked at the hi-scores and saw that the highest
score was 600. So I just kept starting the game and refreshing until I got the
Apple Lantern. Sure, it took over an hour, but it was well worth it. Now, the
high scores are a bit too high to get a trophy with one item, but it still helps.
Here is a list of the items and their point values.
Claw-Matoe: 2
Mashed Eye Potato 3
Spooky Doughnut 4
Pumpkin Cookies 5
Tongue with Veggies 6
Pork Snout 8
Eye Candy 10
Mummy Spaghetti 25
Pumpkin Slice 50
Bat Cookie 100
Moldy Cheese 500
Apple Lantern 1000
Anything above the Mummy Spaghetti is very rare. Only one will appear every
few levels. Moldy Cheese and Apple Lantern are super rare. They will only appear
every 40 or 50 levels, if you can get to 50 levels, you'll have tons and tons
of points already.
There are 3 types of monsters in each level and they are always the same.
There is the tombstone. When it's not active, it looks like a regular tombstone
and can't hurt you. When it is active, it looks like a tombstone with arms,
legs, eyes and a mouth. It will move 1, 2, or 3 steps and it can hurt you. There
are always 2 Ghostkerchiefs on every level. These tend to circle around the
food. Lastly, there is the eye with claws. This enemy can't move and will only
attack when you get near. It can reach out in 4 places and it has 2 places where
it can't hurt you. You get 3 lives in total. There is a big time bonus that
you get if you complete the level quickly, but you lose this bonus if you lose
a life in the level. You can play Mutant Graveyard of Doom here. http://www.neopets.com/games/graveyard.phtml
My strategy: I like to collect the foods that are far away from the ghosts
first and I try to get the ones that are in narrow spaces. If you watch the
ghosts long enough, you will notice that they travel in a square pattern. Watch
this pattern and go when you feel it's safe. Make sure to keep an eye on the
walking tombstone. If you forget where it is and you bump into it, you can lose
a lot of points and a life. Don't worry about the claw thing. If you keep moving,
it can't hurt you. That is, if you are moving around or away from it, not just
moving in one spot.
Swarm
Hey, Space Invaders is here. This is a game of skill and reflexes. Use the
arrows to move left and right and use the spacebar to shoot. The object of the
game is to clear as many waves of invaders as you can. Each level has 4 blocks
that you can hide behind. They can be destroyed if shot. Each invader is worth
5 points. Occasionally, you will see a fast blue invader flying by. This little
guy is worth 50 points, so take aim and fire when you see one. Throughout each
level, you will see different coloured invaders. When you shoot them, they will
drop a coloured thingy that's the same colour that they were. Each colour has
its own effects on your tank. Here are the effects:
Teal: Makes your tank small
Green: Makes your tank big
Yellow: Makes your tank slow
Blue: Makes your tank fast
Orange: Makes the your shots hit again after the first hit
Magenta: Gives you an extra shield
Grey: Rebuilds the towers
You will lose the effect of a colour if you pick up another colour, or if
you get hit. Here is a very useful tip: If you pick up 2 orange drops in a row,
you will get double the effect of 1 orange AND you can pick up another colour
without losing your firepower. You can play Swarm here. http://www.neopets.com/games/swarm.phtml
My strategy: I like to refresh until I get an orange blob. I don't pick up
any other colours until I get another orange blob. When I start off any level,
I take out the middle invaders first so I have a safe area where I can't get
hurt. Next, I move to the edge of the next column of invaders and quickly move
in and out to shoot them. I keep doing this until I get to the ends. When I
get to the ends, I destroy 3 of them so there is only 1 on each side. After
that, I finish off the last 2. I recommend having the teal colour because it
makes you a smaller target.
Pyramids
This is yet another card game and it requires little thinking and a lot of
luck. The game is simple enough to play. You are given a card and you can remove
a car from the pyramid if it is 1 higher or lower than that card. If you can't
make a move, just draw another card. The higher you get in the pyramid, the
more each card is worth. To get a trophy in this, beat 2 games. To get another
trophy, beat 5 games. To get the last trophy, beat 2 games in a row. You can
play Pyramids here. http://www.neopets.com/games/pyramids/index.phtml
My strategy: I like to clear the middle of the pyramid first and work my way
out to the sides. If you have 2 cards that you can get rid of, take the one
that will let you get rid of the most cards. If they both get rid of the same
amount of cards, take the one that is closer to the middle. I don't like have
long columns of single cards. If I see this happening, I will try to get rid
of those cards.
Sakhmet Solitaire
What can I say? It's Solitaire. To get a trophy in this, beat 2 games. To
get another trophy, beat 5 games. To get the last trophy, beat 2 games in a
row. You can play Sakhmet Solitaire here. http://www.neopets.com/games/sakhmet_solitaire/index.phtml
That's all that's in this week's article. Next week will be Nimmo's Pond,
and Jelly Processing Plant.
