Double trouble

Twice the effort....

Angel had so far held the gruesome twosome (as she liked to call them) for ransom for a week up in her large house hidden up among the cirrus clouds of Faerieland. All of Neopia was worrying about the disappearance of Illusen and Jhudora (well I suppose Jhudora is a person you love to hate). There was even a huge reward put out by the Neopets staff to find the lost faeries.

Angel was starting to feel like she had had it up to here with these two Faeries and their constant fighting. What was she going to do with them? Their screams were echoing off the stone walls and all around the mansion.

Angel was tempted to let them go because she was sick of the noise of them squabbling all the time. She had to take Flat-U-Less tablets to counteract the stress induced indigestion. But Angel was determined to get something out of all this, after all the trouble she had gone to.

"I didn't think I would have that much trouble with one or even two prisoners for that matter, but now it is double trouble!" she sighed and turned over on her beauty bed.

"Carina! Carina!" Angel bellowed for her hapless servant. "Come here, I haven't got all day!"

Even though Carina was not much older than her mistress, Angel's overly rich dad had hired her to look after Angel in the family mansion. Angel's dad didn't care about looking after his daughter, which was sad but true. He was more involved in his family business. The usual things like running around making sure everything ran like clockwork in the factories, planning business trips and looking after many other responsibilities for his food company Neocola inc.

At Angel's call Carina ran over from the other side of the palace and slipped on a tri-nana skin on the floor near Angel's bed.

"Ugh! You can't teach an old Lupe new tricks" she said to herself and picked herself up from the marble floor. "I am not your mother Angel! Why do I have to pick up after you all the time!" Carina dropped the tri-nana peel on the bed.

"Gross! Thanks, I needed that!" Angel said sarcastically and poked out her tongue. She swallowed her last mouthful of banana. "You are my guardian. You have to do gross stuff. My dad hired you to look after me when my mum went to Mystery Island on a Neopian bone finding trip!"

"Sorry, I will watch what I say, madam. What would you like?" she replied in a serious but peeved sort of voice.

"Ring up Fyora, the thinks she is so great ruling Faerieland Faerie Queen. I need to organise a speech to Neopia about the ransom and NPs."

"Yes, madam." Carina walked into the lounge room and picked up Angel's lime green retro phone that looked like it was a prop from an old 70s movie, and quickly dialed the royal phone number.

     "Hello!"

A reply in a digitised robot tone said, "Hello, you have reached Fyora's palace!"

     "Drat! A machine!" Carina moaned.

"Press 1, if you want to complain about the hidden tower prices being too high. "Press 2, for Information on Faerie quests" "Press 3, if you are a telemarketer and plan to trick Fyora into buying loads of useless junk she will try once and never use again"

"Oh great, this is going to take a while. I might as well have a cat nap."

1 hour later. Carina wakes up and hears "Press 88 if you want to talk to the Faerie queen directly instead of listening to a stupid answering machine"

"Finally!" Carina spoke in a relieved voice and pressed 88 on the phone pad. NeoQuest music starts playing.

"Your call is appreciated, please hold on."

2 hours later Carina is falling sleep with the phone resting on her lap

     "Hello" the phone spoke sharply.

Carina woke up in fright and dropped the handset. "Hello! Is this Fyora?"

"Yes, this is Fyora. May I ask who is calling?"

"Um, an insider about the ransom of Jhudora and Illusen. I know where they are but the info will come at a price. "

"Oh! I will do anything to get my sisters back, even though they are a bit bratty at times. What do you want? Where are they?" Fyora started to panic.

"Well if you want more information come to Hidden Tower where "we" plan to make a ransom speech to all of Neopia, if it is okay with you."

"Fine, we can make a deal then but when.....?" Suddenly Carina gets a panic attack and hangs up the phone.

Meanwhile, Angel is eating a turkey dinner at her pine finish table. Carina runs over with the good news.

"She agreed to make a deal!" Carina announced triumphantly.

"Did she say we could use the Hidden Tower as a venue to make the speech?" Angel crammed a turkey leg into her mouth.

"Oops! I forget to mention that," Carina hung her head in embarrassment.

"Oh, well it doesn't matter. Impromptu food fight!" Angel giggles. Angel starts throwing bits of leftovers off her dinner plate at Carina. Carina grabs a gold butter knife and hurls it in self defense. The knife hits a painting of Angel's dad on the wall with a resounding "thwack", right on the nose!

"Carina, I'll get you back for doing that!!!" Angel squealed as she ran after her with a particular greasy turkey leg.

Carina screamed, "It's all fun and games until someone loses a eye!" but ended up sliding and giggling along the slippery marble floor after hitting a patch of dung jelly leftover from last night's desert. Both girls seem to be sliding down the slippery slops to disaster!
