Escape from Jelly World: Part One

by xxtashersxx

Untitled Document You've all heard of Jelly World by now. Some know where it is, some are still oblivious to the fact it exists, and some always dreamed of the secret, mysterious place of wonder. Some knew it was there all along, while some believed it was just a circulating joke of the Neopets Team. To state the obvious, it does exist, and it always has existed, although many have doubted it all along because we couldn't see it.

***

Jelly world was once your regular old peaceful village, sitting there for centuries, obscure from our world. It was not always made completely of sweet, tangy orange jelly... it was made of the usual wood and bricks and such. It was a nice, quiet town, lush with flowers, green grass and trees, with a spotless lake and no pollution to be found. It was almost a utopia - almost. The inhabitants were, in fact, in love with jelly, and Jelly Town, as it was then known, was the top producer in the stuff. They exported it somehow, without anybody knowing where it was coming from... only that it was the best jelly in the world (that's one of the magical things about Jelly World, huh?). Strangely, the top inhabitors there were Aishas. Aishas just so happen to be naturally attracted to such things as jelly and other fun things to eat, but mainly jelly. All was well in the village of Jelly Town... until that one day.

A whistle sounded, letting everybody know that their stress-free day of work was done (things like that that just simply don't exist in our world somehow existed in Jelly World). Scores of Neopets fled out of the Jelly Processing Factory (hence the popular Neopets game), on their way home. Lastly, three rather strange little Aisha exited the factory; two orange Aisha (one looked older than the other), and one specifically odd Aisha that was blue and orange. They always walked home together after work, for they all lived together as roommates and lifelong friends. There were no "owners" in Jelly Town, just Neopets (then again, you couldn't really call them pets, could you?).

"Ah, there ends a long days work!", said the orange Aisha, known as Kiirki. She thought, then said, "Well... maybe not long.."

The bigger, older-looking orange Aisha, known as Iishii, said, "Yeah, well, I can't wait to get home... let's get going, eh?"

The strange blue and orange Aisha, Flefah, licked at the jelly around the corners of her mouth. "Mmm... mmm... mmhmm! Well... it was about two hours, Kiirki... it sorta was, I think." She blinked, scrubbing at the sides of her mouth with a paw now, grumbling something about sticky jelly. "Lets get going, guys", she said, as they began their annual walk home.

"Forward, troops!" a piercing, downright evil voice boomed suddenly. Everything in the humble Jelly Town seemed to stop at that moment. You could hear it just over Jelly Hill; the hideous voice, the stomping mutant Grundo soldiers. The mass destruction - not to mention Sloth's feared Sludge Ray - was literally just over the hill.

"This isn't normal..." Flefah whispered, standing dead in her tracks, as was the rest of Jelly Town there. A loud zap was heard from behind the hill; a huge puff of black smoke appeared upon timid Jelly Hill. And when the smoke cleared...

Yes, there he stood; Dr. Sloth himself.

A shrill scream could be heard from every inch of Jelly Town. Their doom had come, as seems to happen to all places in Neopia, eventually enough. From the notorious evil Doctor came but an evil cackle, and the show of an odd, orange ray gun. The town simply stood and watched in horror; but then again, what else could they do, being the peaceful civilization that they were?

"Citizens of Jelly Town," Sloth announced, as his entire army of mutant Grundo suddenly stood in rows of hundreds behind him, "Prepare to meet your sweet, tangy fate." In his large right hand, he extended the odd orange and black gun, aiming it at the large tree in Jelly Town Square that they decorated for the holidays each year. With a loud, horrid "ZAP", the tree was no longer a tree, but... a jelly tree! One rather clueless Wocky ran up to the giant jelly tree and took a big bite out of it. "You FOOL!" Sloth yelled, as he pointed the gun at the Wocky and fired (thus creating the jelly Wocky that guards the giant jelly). Every eye in Jelly Town widened as the gigantic jelly tree and the jelly Wocky lay there on the square. Sloth threw a fist up into the air, signalling the mutant Grundo army to reveal their arms - guns just like Sloth's.

"Go, my unstoppable mutant army!" Sloth yelled out, cackling insanely as they began flooding poor Jelly Town, zapping the town into that of a jelly nightmare, turning to jelly anybody that tried to fight back. As for Kiirki, Flefah and Iishii... they ran.

"We gotta get outta here!" Iishii said, as they continued running towards their home.

"Where will we go?" Kiirki said.

"No clue," Iishii said, looking back as Flefah was struggling to catch up.

"Wait... for... meee!" she panted, running along behind them.

They finally arrived at their house, Sloth's mutant army about 3 non-jellied buildings behind them. They were running out of time. They looked over the house for their most prized belongings; Kiirki, her beloved Dr_Death plushie, Iishii, her El Picklesaur plushie, and Flefah, her Balthazar plushie.

Kiirki looked out the third story window, through the curtains. They'd locked every door and window and closed every curtain. The Grundos were all zapping their next-door neighbor's home. She gasped, closing the curtains as soon as she saw them that close.

"We have to leave Jelly Town... I don't feel like getting turned into a blob of sticky sweetness!" Kiirki cried, being shushed by the two other Aisha

"Quiet, they'll hear you!" Flefah whispered sharply.

Iishii put on a black hooded cloak, and handed two more to them.

"We'll flee from here in disguise. If anyone asks, we're nobody, just more Grundo slaves." She tossed them green Grundo masks, put on her own, and pulled the black hood over her head to make it look more plausible.

"Where will we go?" Flefah said softly, shaking a little, hugging her plushie tightly, now wearing the black robes and trying to put on the Grundo mask.

"I'm not sure where we'll go," Kiirki said, as they headed out the fire escape in the back of the house. "All I know is that we've got to get as far from here as possible."

Just as they exited the house through the back way, it was turned completely into a big blob of orange jelly. Tears came to their eyes as the once loud screams coming from every corner of the former utopia had quieted to just a few desperate cries for help. Their home would from then on be known simply as Jelly World; nothing but a big town-shaped jelly mold.

The sun was setting on the world of Neopia, the lavender, the indigo and the cerulean mist swirling together like a dance of color in the sky. The three Aisha sat in the soft, tall grass underneath that brilliant sky, tears slithering down each cheek from each eye as they looked at their former home in the distance. Over the horizon stood what was now just a massive jelly mold; over the horizon stood what was once their beloved home.

"Why did Sloth have to come here," Kiirki whispered, staring blankly towards the now barren world of jelly. They had abandoned their Grundo masks, but still wore their black robes, the hoods pulled down, allowing a warm breeze to flow across their tearstained faces.

"I dunno," Iishii sighed, patting Flefah on the back, who was clinging to her fluffy Balthazar plushie for dear life.

Kiirki turned around, facing north... far ahead of them, she could see, was a desert. "Since when is there a desert near here?" she said in a puzzling voice.

"Well, it's not really... near Jelly World, since right now we're probably a few miles away."

Flefah sniffled a bit and said, "Hey, maybe I've heard of that desert before... something about Sahkmet and a King that was killed and stuff, right? Is that the one?"

Kiirki nodded. "Yeah, that's probably it. I suppose that's where we're headed."

Iishii sighed. "Well... we don't really have much more of choice, now do we?"

Hours Later

The sun had long since set over their world. Luckily for Kiirki, Iishii and Flefah, the stars had emerged to cool the burning sands just as they'd entered the desert. It was official; the three Aishas had come together and escaped a world of chaos, and being turned into jelly. But the questions lingered; where would they end up? What would become of them? Not wanting to waste too much time stopping to think, they moved on through the desert towards any sign of civilization. They passed tents, shrines, a pyramid or two, even, until they found Sahkmet. Mind you, being from a secret civilization they didn't even know was secret at the time, they weren't aware of the outside world; all they knew was that Dr. Sloth - whom no matter where you were from, you feared - had destroyed their peaceful home, turned their friends and family into blobs of jelly, and they had escaped unharmed.

The three had stopped at a specific tent, trading their black robes in for desert robes; much more comfortable in the day's heat they were to over come if they hoped to survive. They stocked up on a canteen of water per Aisha They were about half a desert away from regular land, which was their decided destination - anywhere but Jelly World and past the Lost Desert.

In the distance, they could see a large forest with a ghastly green-blue fog thick all through it.

"What's that, up ahead?" Kiirki asked of a Desert Grarrl in an open tent.

"That is the Haunted Woods," he replied in an accent. Flefah eyed the eerie forest in the distance. "Uh... Can we go around that place?"

"I'm afraid not, Fle," Iishii said, sighing at the burnt desert food the Grarrl had given them. Flefah shivered a bit, definitely not from any cold, but from fear.

"I don't think I can go on like this... we don't even know where we're going!"

"Oh, chill out," Kiirki said, rolling her eyes a bit, taking a bite out of her Burnt Scarab Cookie.

"No, Kiirki! I can't 'chill out'! That's all you ever say. Well, maybe sometimes I get a little afraid! you don't have to make me feel stupid because I get afraid!"

Iishii and Kiirki just looked at her for a moment, then looked at each other.

"Flefah, I'm scared, too." Kiirki admitted.

Iishii nodded. "We're all scared. But who wouldn't be in times like these? Listen... we're going to be alright. We've made it this far, haven't we?"

Flefah nodded, smiling weakly. Iishii had always been the brave one. Kiirki had always been the smart, mellow one. But Flefah was rarely brave nor mellow in stressful times, and it wasn't so easy to hide always. And if these weren't stressful enough times, she didn't know what would be.

"Tomorrow, we'll probably make it out of this desert," Kiirki said. "Maybe we can take a shortcut from the woods along a little beach between the ocean and the Haunted Woods, you see it there? Then we just continue going up from there to the next place. We'll basically plan out as we go along."

Flefah and Iishii nodded, and they all fell asleep in the wispy desert tent, oblivious to the adventures ahead.
