Butterfly
As the two Shoyrus took off from Mystery Island, and climbed in the dense night
air, they glanced at each other, and nodded in determination.
"Sho, it's your turn now," yelled Viator over the wind. "Concentrate!"
"RIGHT!" yelled Sholady back to her as she closed her eyes.
Viator wasn't sure what Sho was doing, so she tapped her foot in the air impatiently.
"Over there!" yelled Sho, with a puzzled look on her face as she pointed towards
the lost desert.
"Let's go then!" yelled Viator, as she began to fly towards the large stretch
of desert. Sholady followed quickly, still unsure of what she had done.
After about an hour of flying to the desert, Sholady suggested they continue
on foot. Viator figured she knew best, since she was looking for her partner.
Viator landed softly on the warm sands of the desert, and sighed when she thought
of all the strenuous walking.
After hours of walking, Viator heard Sholady collapse behind her. She turned,
and rushed back to her.
"Hang on Sho! You're the only one who can find the other Air Sage!"
"Too... tired," gasped Sholady, her face in the sand.
For the first time, Viator realised that she had gotten tired from the walking
also. Never the less, she had her mind set.
"Hang on…I'll try a heal spell. Even if water isn't my specialty," sighed
Viator, leaning over her friend in concentration. As the small ball of energy
formed, Viator felt the fatigue overwhelm her, and she collapsed onto her side.
"Ugh…can't give up," she sputtered as her eyes closed, and her body went
limp.
Hearing voices, a small figure rushed over to the collapsed pair.
"OH my GOSH!" yelled the brown Shoyru, as she rushed to the north, and the
beams of the rising sun cast her shadow on the two that were collapsed on the
sand.
"Ugh," gasped Viator. Inside her head, her heart pounded loudly in a strong
beat. Suddenly, she realised that it was music. It seemed close, and she wondered
how it was possible in a desert.
The music became stronger, and Viator recognised it's gypsy-like quality.
She opened one eye, and let it adjust to the light, before she opened her other.
Viator smiled at the rhythmic gypsy music, and surveyed her surroundings.
"Well no wonder," she said to herself. She realised she was lying in
the great circle of a large gypsy caravan. All around her, the sounds of a party
and music flooded her ears. She looked past the various carts of the caravan,
and the various pets walking around, and focused on the circle of musicians
in the center. Various Lennys, Unis, Chias, and other pets pounded on large
drums, and played various other instruments to a methodical and enchanting beat.
Smiling happily at the enjoyment, Viator looked towards the center of the
circle.
A large bonfire burned brightly under the dazzling light from the full moon.
It seemed to be the center of attention, or so Viator thought. Suddenly, a figure
in the center caught her attention.
The figure of a brown Shoyru danced beautifully under the moonlight, the fire
casting shadows across her. On her arms and ankles jangled loud bracelets clad
with various sized bells. She wore a large red ribbon across her waist, and
forehead.
Viator's jaw dropped, and she unknowingly walked towards the center of the
circle. She was captivated in the music, and before she knew it, she was on
the outskirts of the musicians.
The brown Shoyru looked up at her, and danced over. Viator began to sweat,
and stepped back quickly in surprise. The Shoyru smiled at her, and winked as
she grabbed Viator's arm. And before Viator knew it, she was in dancing beside
the large fire, next to the brown Shoyru
In what seemed like seconds, the song was over, and the crowd of gypsy's were
yelling and cheering at them. Viator blinked twice, and realised what happened.
Looking over at the other Shoyru, she saw that it was bowing. Viator followed,
still somewhat dazed and confused.
While she was in mid bow, the brown Shoyru took her arm again, and pulled
her out of the circle.
"You're talented!" laughed the brown Shoyru, her bells jingling.
Viator blinked twice, and then snapped back to reality. "He--"
"I'm Saria64, but everyone just calls me Saria 'round here," said the
brown Shoyru, holding out a jingling hand.
Viator took it and shook. "I'm Viator… have you seen a purple Shoyru?"
"Yes! I found her in the desert lying next to you! What a sight it was for
someone like me on their morning rounds!" laughed Saria.
"Well, where is she?" yelled Viator, fear growing in her stomach.
"Behind you!" said the familiar voice, as she tapped Viator's shoulder.
"SHO! Thank goodness!" sighed Viator, hugging her friend.
"Don't thank goodness ^^;; Thank Saria! She's the one who found us, and gave
us water and food," said a slightly winded Sholady.
"Oh…right!" laughed Viator, turning back to the brown Shoyru. "Do you mind
if I ask how long we were out?"
"About twelve hours... from daybreak to nightfall," laughed the gypsy.
"Sholady woke up sometime before you. We had a little chat,"
"You... did?" questioned Viator nervously.
"YEAH! Guess who Saria is Via?" squealed Sholady excitedly. "SHE'S THE OTHER
AIR SAGE! I found her all by myself!" she then smacked her forehead. "Oops…
ruined the surprise!"
"Buh???" stammered Viator. "Are you sure?"
"Yes!" squealed Sholady again.
"I guess I should take you both to the air dragon then," said Viator, rubbing
the back of her neck.
"That won't be necessary!" laughed Saria.
"Excuse me?" asked Viator, raising an eyebrow.
"An electric Eyrie stopped by a few hours ago, he's been waiting for you to
wake up. He said he worked with you?" said Saria, pointing behind Viator.
Feeling a paw on her shoulder, Viator turned to stare Dethonis in the eyes.
The electric Eyrie laughed heartily, though he looked a bit beaten up.
"It took me a while to find you," he laughed.
"Aah ^^;; I didn't know you would come looking," sighed Viator.
"Well, I was sent to make your job easier. I'm here to escort these two back
to Marina," smiled Dethonis, waving at the two excited Shoyrus.
"Ahh," said Viator, heaving a sigh of relief. She then lowered her voice for
only Dethonis to hear. "Where is he?"
"Still chasing an invisible Ethine... the dragons are using a complex method
of shifting planes to hide her for him to chase. It's a small trifle though,
when he realises, and he will soon, we'll have to be ready. In short. HURRY
UP!" whispered Dethonis, patting Viator on the back.
"Uhm... Mr. Dethonis?" asked Sholady meekly, tapping his shoulder. "Can we…
leave now?"
"Naturally m'dear!" laughed Dethonis, winking quickly at Viator before he walked
to the two other Shoyrus.
"Nice meeting you Viator! See you soon!" yelled Saria, waving.
"Good luck!" yelled Sholady, jumping around excitedly.
"I'm gonna need it," sighed Viator, walking away from the warmth of the crowd.
