DIRECT QUOTES / REPLY FROM ORY (DIRECT QUOTE)
In response to Ory's "rebellion" (here) which makes no sense at all.
This is a compilation of all the comments she did NOT put up on her own rebellion page, even though she did state, and I quote, if you want to say something in relation to this topic, neomail me. You can say what ever you want, I will put it up here, good or bad.
All that is below are EXACT quotes, which is something I can do better than Ory, I think.
what EBONY has to say
I don't care if wolves are in Eclipse, the authors are complete hypocrites. There are no wolves in England, where the story took place in the first six books. There are no wolves in England. None. Whatsoever. At all. The cats cannot jump on a boat and suddenly arrive in an area where there are wolves. It's impossible. These books aren't fantasy to the point that you can take your plot to an alternate dimension and not tell the readers. There are no wolves.
And. ROFL that is a funny site. :)
But aside from that. I just want to say that on Ebonycrow's page (I have put a link below) she talks as though HER opinion is the ONLY one that matters and SHE knows more about warriors then the Erins and that they are wrong.
No, I don't. :) Do I say that? No. It's my opinion. If you don't want to listen to it, you don't have to. I have tons of friends who have names that go against this, but know what, I don't care. O:! If they don't want to change their names they don't have to. However, there have been many others that have changed their names because of this guide. So! Thank you for putting words in my mouth. ♥
Cat's don't know what emeralds/dancing/blades/singing/they can't cry so they don't know what tears are!' 'How do you know what cats do or don't know.
1) Because the Erins said so. 2) Because cats can't cry.
Honestly, if you're going to oppose my guide, you may want to catch up on some things first. :/ And I half wonder if you actually know what this guide is for, and is about, based on what you're "quoting" on your page.
Much of what I have put in this guide are my own findings, but the majority is actually what the Erins have said themselves. Through chats, through interviews, etc. I have even complied quite a lot of this from a chat I've had with them myselves, as well as chats with my friends. So please. Please. If you're going to oppose this you need to make a little sense in doing so. :/
And Ory, you can add my response and Katya's response to your page. Because you said you would. :)
But first I think you need to learn how to properly quote someone, because those "quotes" you have from my guide aren't quote at all...? You can't put something in quotations if it isn't a direct quote. That's... lying, number one, and number two if you did that with a business you'd be fired quicker than a two-faced crook.
what KATYA has to say
None of your points are valid points. The Erins said it themselves that gems wouldn't be used in names. They said it themselves that Sunstar and Moonflower were mistakes by a newbie Erin. The words would never be used again. The series WAS set in England, the authors became stupid and somehow moved a kabillion cats to the "New Galapagos" without anyone noticing. As for song, GO AHEAD AND USE IT. With the right prefix, it can make a nice name. But don't say stuff like Flowersong, because flowers don't sing.
If you're going to try to bash my friend, at least quote her directly instead of grabbing random quotes from the traditional raters that roam the boards. This guide is just a GUIDE. Not RULES TO THE UNIVERSE. As Ebony stated up front, you don't HAVE to follow her guide. It's the guide to TRADITIONAL naming. If you wanna put your Clans somewhere else and have them know about wolves and stuff that doesn't exist in England, fine. Do it. We don't rate names based on worldwide, we base our rates on what Warriors USED to be. Good, solid names that are given for a reason. Yeah, some of them are odd, like Ferncloud and Runningwind. Perhaps the kits were born with a different name and the name was switched when they displayed the characteristics they have their names for in the books. Did you consider that? I have no IDEA if it says anything in CotC, as I didn't buy it.
what I have to say
I also sent her my own four part neomail, yet it seems that was lost on its way to her page o: I'll put it here with her responses by neomail.
This is a response to your "Ebonycrow Rebellion". Since you promised to put up every reply about it, I expect this one to be put up as well.
Go take a look at my guild. Its about cats who line IN A CAVE.
This has what to do with anything? The Tribe cats live in a cave. That doesn't mean they know emeralds/dancing/blades are.
This is just ridiculous, are you so arrogant with your humanness that you can accept that cats and other animals feel pain and cry just like us? It makes me sick! I have seen animals cry, with real tears. It is my belief that cats "cry" only when in extreme pain. In reality, cats cannot cry because they lack tear ducts.
Song was already used in the books
1. Song was used for SkyClan. They have different naming patterns, as we can tell from Sharpclaw and Echosong.
2. Song is usually implied as a /birdsong/.
Dance is close to song, and it has been used to describe things a few times.
Dance is close to song? How? And it would be better if you could state exact pages on where something was described as dancing.
Ahem, on thing to say: Foxkit, Deadfoot, Raggedpelt, Brokentail, Crookedjaw. All names from the book.
Wolfkit would be unacceptable because wolves do not live in England. I have met Vicky, personally, and she told me that yes, the Clans are situated in England. When I asked about the wolves in the upcoming book, she replied that "The mountains are not in England." There is nothing wrong with wolves in general, same as foxes, but cats do not KNOW about wolves unless they went to North America and back. Raggedpelt I can't defend. He was made when the Erins were still starting out. Brokenkit/star was named for two things. The kink in his tail, and the way his mother felt when she had to give him up. Deadfoot and Crookedjaw were probably renames.
---- to this I recieved the response:
------ I have a quote that proves the existens of wolves in the books. And your argumetns are the same ones I get all the time. If Brokenkit was named for the feeling his mother had then other kits could be named for that as well. And congrats on meating Vicky, you are lucky. As for your Raggedpelt argument, it shouldn't matter when the Erins named him. Even if they were starting out. They should be able to name cats what ever they want. Its their sires.
---- and my reply:
----- I don't care if you have a quote. Vicky told me that wolves do not live where the Clans are. Besides, the quote you have is simply from an excerpt, and could still be changed. I'm not saying it will be, but it's not set in stone yet.
And what do you mean, it's their father of an animal?
I'm not going to bother replying back to all the other stuff you wrote back, since it's pretty much nonsense and a repeat of the nonsense in your guide. However, why did you not put my comment on your page (: You did say you would.
---- and Ory again: (D:)
----- Everything is nonsene these days. Its really up to you what you do. And I have a new thing for you. Cats are color blind, so if you want to stay true to nature then color should be used in names. Yet there they are. The books are fantasy, not true to nature.
---- I'm sorry hon, but you need to get your facts straight. Cats are not colourblind, they can see most colours. I'd like to know where you learned that.
Cats are not color blind - they have the ability to distinguish between blues and greens, but lack the ability to pick out shades of red.
Honestly. Make sure you know what you're talking about before you say something.
Since you're obviously ignoring my requests to place my comment on your page, forget it. However, I shall shortly be sending you a link and I hope you'll do me the honours of putting at least that up (:
---- My sience teacher. I would like to know where YOU learned that.
---- Tell your science teacher to get their facts straight.
I learned what I know from MY science teacher. Say to me with accurate proof you think she's wrong.
---- Does you science teach have experience as a paramedic/horse trainer/dog breeder/genetic scientist?
Cat's see in over 300 hundred shades of gray. That is why they are able to see in the dark so well.
---- First of, being a paramedic/horse trainer/dog breeder/genetic scientist has NOTHING to do with cats being colorblind. I could tell you a lot about medical advice for dogs yet I would not dare to advise someone on how to properly treat a human with a medical problem because they are DIFFERENT. They are a different species entirely, just as dogs and cats and horses are a different species.
I think you should read up and understand things before you attempt to argue.
The cornea allows light to enter unaffected into the eye. The cat can open his iris (the colored portion of his eye) very wide to let in as much light as possible.
Their eyes are specially designed to absorb as much light as possible. That is why they see in the dark, not because they see in gray.
Once again, do you have actual proof that cats are colorblind? I could give you quite a few websites right now that talk about scientists' experiments, stating that cats are only partially colorblind and see most colours apart from red. You haven't been able to give me a scrap of evidence that states the contrary, other than something your paramedic science teacher said.
I have not heard back yet.
If they really cared they would have seen it and changed it.
They've already acknowledged this. By the time they noticed that Tui used sun and moon, the books were already in publication so they couldn't call them back. Vicky has SAID that they aren't supposed to be used.
Moon is not THAT sacred.
They use the moon as their measurement of time, as a truce for their monthly Gatherings in peace. If they moon can get the Clans to not fight amongst each other, then they probably think it's pretty sacred.
The sun is a star, so. (:
For the whole naming before they open their eyes thing, the Erins made mistakes, just like everyone else.
---- The cats do not know the sun is a star, to them it is another thing it the sky. They don't know that stars are big balls of gas far far away, they just think they are the souls of dead cats in the sky. They don't pray to the sun, or even really talk about it. To them it is just a source of light. Moon I can MAYBE understand, but there are too many moon names to be bothered about this.
I didn't bother to reply. There are too many moon names? Ebony interjects: The sun is revered as a symbol of purity, the end to chaos. Refer back to SotC, the story of TigerClan. Someone pointed that out to me a few months ago, I forgot who it was... Thanks whoever. D:! If you remember pointing that out to me, NM me (ebonyxcrow) so I can give you credit. I've been looking out for you for a while, but no one is ringing familiarity.
Kurali continues:
There is also a petition section. I want to get signatures and give it to Ebonycrow to tell her to stop acting like she knows more about Warriors then us or even the Erins. Its annoying, help me get her to stop.
That is absolutely the most pointless thing in your entire "rebellion". I doubt Ebony will care much that you got people to tell you their name to add to a list of people who don't like her opinions.
----- Those are your opinions, and I thank you for sharing them with me. As I said at the bottom they are my opinion, whthere of not you want to follow them is your choice. The pettion is just a place people can speak out, I probably won't even give it to her.
BTW PEOPLE
The guide is Ebony's opinion. It's for AMUSEMENT.
You're not emailing Blizz at WW to tell her to take her site down are you?
No?
Okay, then stop bothering me.
I'm not taking it down. :) If you don't like it.
DON'T. READ. IT.
