Every man dies - Not every man really lives.
~William Wallace

I'll... I'll kill you, you bastard!
...come any time.
I can remember.
I was warm, and I was loved.
There was a boy.
It all changed.
Eric had always been kind. I enjoyed his company, now, more than ever, as he consoled me on my sprained ankle. Even at the age of seven, two years younger than myself, his voice and tone was that of a mother hen, fussing over her brood… Even if the pink puppy pajamas ruined the image.
Areeneee! It's okay," he was saying, for perhaps the twentieth time. "It's just a sprained ankle and it'll heal in no time! And then we can go swimming again, okay? Mum'll make you an icecreambananamochachocolatefudgefloat to make you feel better!" I made a grimace. Eric loved those sorts of concoctions, but I had never really enjoyed them. It must have been something with the bananas, but I surely wouldn't be enjoying one any time soon. Of course, being the child he was, Eric chose to ignore my expression.
…and it'll be deliisshh! And… you'll share with my right? Right?" His puppy eyes mirrored his puppy pants. Of course I would say yes – he was like a little brother to me, albeit one that had random spurts of maturity.
Of course, I replied. "If you're good okay?" He gave a little yelp of joy and did a dance around the bench. "I love you Aree!

We grew up together, but we weren't related. In fact, we weren't related by far. He was merely human, but I, a species called 'demon.' I had belonged to Eric's family for as long as I could remember. Perhaps I was even born to them.
I wonder. Do you not know the history of our planet? Ignorance is the greatest sin…
It was called the Encounter and it marked the beginning of the demon/human relationship. There are two planes, existing at the same time, in the same space. Each was ignorant of the other until the human year of 167 AD, in which an alchemist by the name of Excelis Aleris accidentally broke the barrier separating the two planes while trying to resurrect the dead. What he discovered was much more of a turning point than any resurrection.
We, those that you call 'demons,' had existed on our plane for as long as you had. We had our own government, our own people, our own wars, our own way of life.
Serottis who has been her playmate for many ages. They're really good friends.
This is where 'debt' comes in, for Arene owes them for keeping her. Demons don't last long in the world of suspicious humans. However, it's a reluctant debt, and Arene did not consider herself an outsider until...
Arene goes on a mission with her steed/friend/pet Viannor, who is also demon-born. The mission is successful, but Noor takes a casualty trying to defend Arene, and dies in her arms. Angry, Arene crumbles the building (which was made of stone, Gothic cathedrals and the like.)
At home, Sir Serottis is severely angry for her inability to be subtle, and berates her. Enraged by his insensitivity at Noor's death, and upon the realization that she is little more than a cashcow demon-spawn to him, she flees.
Part two: Lessons in History
Stricken by her leave taken, Aieric falls into a maddened rage, for he has had quite a long time to nurture a love for Arene (they're not related by blood at all, Aieric is human, and Sir Serottis didn't even consider her 'family,' so it doesn't really matter :3).
Arene creates a stone lion steed with her stone-welding powers. They gallop away, and the stone lion is named 'Reincarnate.
Upon finding the encampment of demonic entities, Arene is quickly absorbed into their ranks with her killing prowess. Falling quickly in love with another demon, she and her fellow commanders decide it's high time to rip back into the barrier that separates the human and demon worlds to rejoin their demonic brethren. They succeed.
Aieric is fast approaching to bring Arene back.
Part three: Sin
When Arene and her fellows break into the demon world, they are confronted with wondrous senses and a whole new system of life.
But seven hundred years after the Encounter War, their demonic blood has weakened greatly, and they find themselves broken quickly by a single soldier of the Demonic Realm. They're taken to some castle.
Aieric discovers the open portal to the demon world and enters.
Somehow he survives, but is taken as another 'human-demon' and promptly brought to the king.
[not sure if he dies or not atm :3]
Arene and commanders explain situation, demon-king considers. He's of pure demonic blood, so lived through the Encounter. Remembering past wrongs and his youth and inability-to-do-anything-about-his-family-dying history, he thinks it's the perfect time to go take his revenge, 700 years later.
Amassing his army, he goes to the portal and begins poking his soldiers through, realizing that the humans are not as strong as they had once been.
Attack.
Part Four: Atone
Arene and Aieric (if he survives?) attempt to stop the war.
[Who knows what happens next? Because I surely don't.]
