Personality: Around this time, he was a charming young man infatuated by his work. Married to the sea, he would only be at home when sitting in his cosy cabin on a ship, neck deep in maps and compasses and medical diagrams and peculiar vials of substances. He drinks, and is merry with friends and very charming indeed, for he often fancies pretty girls when like this and will give anything to ask a dance, or present her with a treasure from darkest Africa. Though being exceptionally wealthy, it was at this time he cared the least for that, and merely about enjoying hisself.
