Oh no not again! Kohinor began to feel dizzy, and the sound of the ocean was cut off suddenly. He could still see everything, but he could not feel the sea breeze or hear the waves crashing into the sand. It wasn't long before the Island was going to send him elsewhere. Who knew where he would be sent this time? Unwilling to comply, he began to run frantically, with no destination in mind. He just wanted to avoid being sucked into the vortex that would send him to some unknown location. I am perfectly.. content.. staying.. where.. I AM! He shouted in his head, hoping the island would somehow take that into consideration before sending him away. It may have been foolish to think that the island was more than, well, an island, but in many ways it seemed to have a mind of its own. Lately it had been sending Kohinor to various places without warning, and then bringing him hurtling back just as suddenly. It took a toll on him, especially because there was no way he could keep up relationships that took place elsewhere, or discover anything about Elderige, when he disappeared on such short notice.
The island did not give up. His feet kicked up plenty of sand but he was not going anywhere. Elderige would win, Kohinor knew this. Stubbornly, he continued to attempt to run as the strange force pulled him off of the ground and vacuumed him up. He felt suddenly blind, since all he could see was a bright white mist swirling around him. Where on earth would he be spat out on this occasion?

Journal:;

August 6th.
So much has happened since the last time I wrote here. Luna and I located a strange contrapton that I think may have something to do with how and why characters (including myself) appear and disappear on the island. I excused myself from her and called Arakaio to my island.. his island before me, really. To my amazement, it worked, and now Arakaio and I are working on figuring out what this contraption is. My plan is to lead him to it and question his knowledge, since he was here before the fall of technology.
Just before all of this happened (my memory gets a little mixed.. it seems the island has the ability to mess with time as well as location).. I was sent to Shukumei once again. This time I knew that was where I was, so I was a bit less disoriented. Before long, I became curious, and started sniffing at some plants that I now know to call mushrooms. A bubbly lupe caught me right before I ate one, telling me they were poisonous. She introduced herself as Rhist. Long story short, we fell in love. I have not known love before.. and I did not recognize it at first. But Rhist has an ability (sort of like mine) where she can see the emotions of others by looking into their eyes. She read the unfamiliar feeling inside me and matched it to her own, and then recognized it as love. Once she said that word- love- I knew at once it was true. She is spectacular. When I am close to her (literally, close.. I cannot be more than a foot from her), my thoughts don't turn negative. All of my worries wash away, and I am left with a feeling of calm happiness. It's incredible, really. I have never been able to feel without thinking about it, but she gives me that ability. When I am around her I can actually FEEL. And my thoughts are shut off. Not in a bad way-- not so much that I am unaware or unintelligent.. just so that I am not sitting around thinking about every small problem or puzzle. It's more than I could have ever asked for. However, my poofing back and forth from Shukumei to Elderige unexpectedly proves to be hard on a relationship.

July 4th.
Awhile earlier, I happened upon a female lupe who had.. I don't know how to put it.. "crash landed" on my island. They always seem so disoriented... Anyway, this lady, Miss Luna, has an adventurous personality. I have enjoyed the time spent with her, and she has brought about my own curious streak by questioning me about the island. We have set off up the mountain to find out more about the technological mysteries of my ancient home. All of the talking about this place has made my mind go off on some strange track, and I am baffled by what it has brought up. I think, maybe, Elderige, the island I have known since birth, my home and my prison, works for me. Well, with me? It sounds absolutely nutty, I know, but I have gone back over and over this and it has started to make a smidgen of sense. When I was very young, I would frequently find myself trapped in depressing thoughts of abandonment, lonesomeness, and imprisonment. Almost every time, I was snapped out of those thoughts just before they drove me mad by some sort of natural or "technological" disaster. Then, recently, when the pressing feeling of imprisonment began to take over my thoughts, I found a mysterious, unpredictable portal to another world.. a magical forest in the lands of Shukumei, a place I had neither visited nor heard of in all of my years. Throughout the years I have had times when I have felt almost unbearably lonely, and the island has responded by magically bringing others to my world. I always found this to be a simple inexplicable coincidence, or fluke, but now that I look at everything at once, it all seems to link together. My island is really, truly, my island. Somehow it is linked to me. Now, more than ever, I wish to find out more. Sadly, my relations with Arakaio have ended badly, and I will have to set out on my own to reveal all of the island's mysteries.

February 16th.
I have run into an old friend, Arakaio. No telling how this will turn out, considering last time I saw him he abandoned me. Apparently the old man has his 'own problems' to sort out. Seems he wants to reunite. Heh.

February 3rd.
I began my journal. Nothing much to say here. I've been feeling more empty than usual lately; I have no idea why. There seems to be a void inside my chest that refuses to be filled. However, I have discovered I can temporarily replace this monsterous hole with others' feelings. I have to be careful, though, because I would really rather shield myself from those with negative emotions. It's easier, I think... they are dreadful for me to be around, considering their pain torments me more than it could anyone else. I suppose, on the bright side, I am extremely empathetic..?

Roleplay Brief:;
Kohinor, on the outside, seeks out fun, spontaneous happenings. He is drawn to benevolence and cheer. Ko feeds off of the happiness of other beings. That is to say, he enjoys making others happy because when they are happy, he is able to be happy. If one day he finds himself feeling especially sad, he will seek out someone obviously in need of a pick-me-up and turn their frown upside down. Before you know it, he will have fed off their happiness and will have made it into his own. The longer he fakes one emotion, the easier it is for him to feel it.
Kohinor's only history is his abandonment by his parents and mentor. For years, he let this get to him. He allowed himself to believe that something was wrong with him; that his abandonment was somehow his fault. He was tormented by his thoughts and feelings. Now, instead of feeling only his own emotions, he feels those of others. This is why he hovers around optimistic people. He would rather feel their emotions. Ko fears death more than anything else. He does not believe in anything after death, and is afraid of being left behind once again. He dreams of these things, and therefore tries not to sleep more than necessary...

History:; Before he was born, Kohinor's parents never thought they would reproduce. Both of them were extraordinarily large brutes; each of them enjoyed battling more than anything else in life. His mother enjoyed the thrill of a good hunt- she was large but swift, and could take down animals almost four times the size of herself. His father controlled more territory than the alpha of any other pack.. however, not many lupes decided to follow him. He wasn't much of a leader; he was much too greedy. Both of them were terrible beings, despised by most and feared by all.
Kohinor, however, is unaware of this.
Somehow, those two ended up producing him. Of course, neither could be bothered to take care of the result. Graciously, his mother spared him from being murdured by his monster of a father, yet she did not think it was necessary to stay with him. After saving him from his father's hungry jaws, she left him alone in Elderige, continuing on her journey that took her far, far away.
At first bewildered by his new surroundings, Kohinor stayed at the edge of the island, along the shores. Deep down, he secretly wished that one day his parents would come back for him. Of course, if he had known them, he would have realized he was better off not knowing them. However, his parents never came back for him, and he grew older without them, learning how to survive alone but always wishing for a companion. One afternoon when he felt particularly lonesome, someone appeared on the island who would change Kohinor's life forever (although he was unaware of this at that time). The lupe introduced himself as Arakaio, and Kohinor found him to be incredibly knowledgable about the island of Elderige. Koh was intrigued by the many stories Arakaio could tell him, and wondered how he had been so unaware of Elderige's past all of these years while he had called the island home.
With Arakaio, Kohinor became more confident in himself. His sense of adventure and curiosity came around more often. While with his trusted mentor, he explored the island and learned of its many secrets. He learned that Elderige was once home to a very technological civilization and the bits of scrap metal and electrical cord that were scattered about once worked in an almost magical way. On one outing with Arakaio, Kohinor watched as his mentor shifted a few shimmering bits of glass. He couldn't understand the point of this until an image appeared, projected into the air from the mirror-like pieces. The image spoke to Arakaio and then disappeared. Kohinor could never figure out what this meant, but realized the Island held more secrets than his mentor had told him about at that point in time, however, when Koh asked his mentor about it, Arakaio promised that in time he would share everything with Kohinor because that was what was meant to happen.
Soon after that conversation, Arakaio was gone. Kohinor sprinted frantically around the island, looking for his beloved mentor. Not only did he wish to solve and understand the mysteries of his so-called-home but he had also begun to think of Arakaio as family. The only family he had ever known. But his mentor truly had disappeared.
Years later, Arakaio showed up at the island. Kohinor had learned to live on his own, he had discovered things about the island during adventures by himself. After a heart wrenching argument, Kohinor turned Arakaio away once and for all, and the Island seemed to understand. By the next day, his ex-mentor was gone again.
It has taken Kohinor much strength to get over abandonment, but as he has grown he has become more aware of the connection between him and the island of Elderige. He wishes to discover the meaning of this, and he knows he must look toward his future instead of into his past. He has turned a new leaf, wishing to learn more about the connection that has lasted him forever...

Companions:;

There are many times when I've walked along the shores of Elderige late at night. Recently, there have been a few times when I have found myself in a completely unfamiliar territory. I don't know how I arrive at this place, but the second time this occurred, I became acquainted with this strange lady. She informed me that the place I keep somehow arriving in is called 'Shukumei'. This meant nothing to me, but I may be in the dark on this one. Xayam (or Aya, she says she likes to be called) introduced me to a few interesting places in Shukumei, as well as a strange edible substance she calls 'marshmallows'. Being a courteous guest, I was compelled to taste the foreign food. It... wasn't so bad. Sticky, I would call it. Very sticky. I have learned not to dread the random nights when I suddenly appear in Shukumei. It was fortunate for me to have met Aya, for she is endearing, and has an optimistic warmth that radiates from her core. I would be honored to spend more time with Miss Aya in the future."

I have just met Miss Rhist. She has quite a bubbly personality.. there's really no other way to describe it. I think I may be in debt to her, actually, because she found me as I was just about to eat a poisonous mushroom. The lady is inexplicably fond of mushrooms.. and she is incredibly knowledgeable! She told me all sorts of facts about these strange plants, which I had only ever seen in the forest I was in with her. This was another one of those times that I had found myself in Shukumei, instead of in Elderige. I have to say, the lighting in that mystical forest makes everything seem grand. Rhist managed to talk me into trying one of her beloved mushrooms, and I trusted her enough to pop one into my mouth. I was surprised to find she was right; it had a satisfyingly sweet taste. We travelled to the giant Yggdrasil- a tree that she told me holds some sort of magic. As we walked, we talked, and I couldn't help but feel a connection to her. We found we have much in common, and.. I began to feel strange. Rhist has a power where she is able to look into another's eyes and tell what they are feeling. I learned of this and told her about my own abilities. We realized that we both felt the same way.. and that feeling.. it is love." (more about Rhist later on...)

Fiiluna, or Luna as she likes to be called, is, besides my old mentor, the lupe who I have told the most about myself. She showed up on my island unexpectedly (as most people do) in the early hours of morning. I do not know much about her past just yet, but we have discussed many things. I know we must have a few things in common, simply because we have grown up with strange technologies. My experience with technology has been with my island, and I have a feeling it has just as much magic as it does electronics. Hers is her own body. It was incredible, learning about how her body works as some sort of machine. I still don't fully understand, but I intend to. She has been kind enough to accompany me in exploring Elderige more, but with a cause. After I told her about my theory that the island works with me- for me- she proposed we try to find out more about what makes the island work. We ended up finding a giant device of some sort.. and this was the last I saw of her, to be honest. I had to apologize and leave her so that I could find Arakaio.

Elderige:;

The island of Elderige has been Kohinor's only home since birth. Being an island, it is mostly secluded. However, over the years others have seemed to stumble upon the place accidentally; they have also seemed to disappear just as accidentally and inexplicably. The island is home to many ancient 'technological' gadgets. Kohinor has never fully understood the electronical aspect of the island, although when he was quite young he had an elder who tried to tell him of times when Elderige was at its peak. In those times, the island was a place where technology flourished and many species still inhabited the thick forests and sprawling beaches. It was a time when magic and technology almost went hand in hand, since some things simply couldn't be explained by science; they just worked. Kohinor never lived when the technology on the island was still at its best. In fact, he had never been in Elderige when the contraptions (that were now found lying in pieces all around the thicker parts of the jungle) functioned at all. But he knew they had once been great.
As Kohinor grew up, he discovered very little else about the island after his mentor disappeared. Staying mainly along the shoreline, he did not show any interest in exploring the jungles that took up most of Elderige and that housed most of the island's technological secrets. What Kohinor has been unaware of, however, has been his inexplicable connection to the island. He has never ventured far from it, not because he didn't wish to, but because there hasn't ever been a way. But the island has fulfilled most of his needs. There is always food and drink available nearby, and when Koh has felt particularly lonesome the island seemed to bring others to him. And now, after Kohinor has spent decades living alone on the island, he found himself wishing he could go elsewhere.. and then the island sent him into a magical forest in the lands of Shukumei: a place he had never visited nor heard of. The island seems to know things about Kohinor's innermost thoughts; dreams; emotions. Perhaps more than Koh knows himself. He can never be fully free from the island, since it has somehow become a part of him, but perhaps he can discover the inner-workings of Elderige and find a way to control or become more in tune with them.

Shukumei:;

Although he cannot control when he arrives in Shukumei, Kohinor is able to visit this foreign land. In the beginning, it frightened him when he woke up somewhere beside his home in Elderige. He had always wished to leave his island, but when it finally happened it took him too much by surprise. All he managed to do before the island called him back was to walk down the path a little ways. The second time he visited Shukumei, he met another lupe.. she was a spunky gal, and a little overwhelming to Kohinor. She showed him around, and introduced herself as Xayam.
Because Xayam had showed him around, Kohinor was excited to visit Shukumei again. The next time he felt the spinning feeling he also became happier (as happy as Kohinor could feel at that time). He looked forward to what would happen to him this time; what he would find; who he would meet. This was the time he met Rhist.
Kohinor cannot control when he visits Shukumei. Somehow, Elderige had forged a link between Verloren and Shukumei, but he nor Arakaio can explain this at this point. There are many questions surrounding the reasons for this transportation, but none of them have answers.
