Composed mostly of street urchins and other poor folk, the Desert Scarabs are quickly becoming more of a thorn in the side of Sakhmet's palace guards. As they constantly make off with food, gold, and other valuables, each new scheme that the Desert Scarabs dream up is bolder and more inventive than the last.

While vendors are quite unhappy about losing their profits, the rest of Sakhmet tends to see the Scarabs as a group of harmless orphans who are just trying to survive from day to day. Due to public compassion for the wily gang, few Sakhmetians (aside from the vendors) bother to report sightings of its members to the authorities.

Though the Desert Scarabs are a far cry from being honest citizens, it should be known that they are generally harmless and have never resorted to violence. They prefer to sneak and steal, rather than forcefully attacking their targets. Anyone who has ever encountered a member of the gang could easily recognise the distinctive scarab tattoo that they all wear on their upper arm.

So, if you should ever find yourself in the company of someone sporting this mark, be sure to keep a close eye on your belongings!
