It began with reports of severe storms and strange, fiery creatures. Soon, all of Neopia was caught up in the search for the source. In one of the most remarkable discoveries in the history of Neopia, intrepid adventurers Clara Chatham, Roxton A. Colchester III, and Jordie stumbled upon the hidden world of Moltara!

Hidden by an immense door on a remote island, a tunnel descends deep into the crust of Neopia. Far below, the city of Moltara sits over a network of magma rivers and steam vents. Here, residents take their coffee with boiling magma, and conversations are shouted over the constant roar of machinery. The citizens of Moltara are as warm as their climate, generously opening their doors to the world above and offering their piping hot cuisine and gear-based apparel for bargain prices.

Moltara City

Beyond the city, the dark caverns and passages are mostly inhabited by mysterious magma Neopets. Said to be the precursor of the colour fire, magma is only attainable by taking a dip in the Magma Pool, a place whose secrets are closely guarded.

Though their appearance is fearsome, the inhabitants of the Moltara caves are generally quiet and peaceful. There is little light to be found in these deep caves, though, and it is said that for every safe trail, there are a hundred paths that lead to certain doom...

Places of Interest:

Cog's Togs - Cog spent her childhood rummaging through junkyards, and all that hard work has paid off. Her clever clockwork-themed designs are now highly sought after across Neopia. Between filling orders, Cog still insists on making time to chat with each of her customers, especially if they share her fondness for gadgets.

Lampwyck's Lights Fantastic - Lampwyck himself still proudly runs the finest lamp shop in all of Moltara. It's said that his skill with lamps once drew the light faerie Siyana to seek him out for a special task, but he refuses to discuss the subject. Today, tours cite his shop as the starting point of the mysterious "worm quest."

Moltara Run - Here, Neopians can relive Roxton's legendary flight to the long lost Moltara Caves. Mechanical wings are provided for those without their own means of flight. Please read the cautionary booklets before stepping into the lava tunnels.

Igneot's Cave - One magma Gnorbu, Igneot, claims to have powers of clairvoyance, and he welcomes a hearty philosophical discussion with anyone willing to make the journey down to his cave. His words of wisdom can be hard to interpret if one isn't versed in the ancient teachings of the Moltara Caves, however.

The Arcanium - Moltara is full of engineers, and thus its book shop is full of helpful manuals. The magma Yurble who runs it prefers to let customers do their own browsing; that way, he can do a little reading while he minds the shop.
