Neopian Adventure Generator - Help
There're a lot of steps to create your own adventure, so don't feel bad if you get confused. This page should help explain some things. :)
Initial Creation
When you initially create an adventure, you must specify your preferences. These include things like the title, land, and colors.
Title
This is what your adventure will be called. When someone looks for you adventure on your lookup or sees it in the category listing, it will appear as the title you've given it here.
TIP:
If you're having trouble thinking of a good title for your adventure, click the "Generate" button to get a jump-start with some ideas.
Land
This is the location where your adventure begins.
TIP:
If you don't set any colors for your adventure (see below), your colors will default to ones matching the land you have chosen.
Category
Select the category your story falls under. This will help people find your adventure if they like the type you've selected.TIP:
If your adventure falls under more than one category, like a Fantasy Quest for example, select the closest one. :)
Color Scheme
Here you can select the colors of your adventure pages. There are 5 different colors you can set:
- Page Background
- Title
- Font
- Links
- Border
Once you have selected your colors, click on the preview button to make sure everything looks okay... then click submit. :)
Below is a chart of the compatible CSS color names. The Hex values are provided for the heck of it. :) (Thanks, w3c.org. ^_^)

Suppress Page Numbers
Some adventures are better played without the page number text. When an adventure is played, the page number text looks like this: (turn to page 4). If you'd like page numbers to dissapear when people play your adventure, check the box.
TIP:
If page 5 is always your dead end, you might want to suppress page numbers. That way, no one will know you're sending them to page 5. ^_^
Page Creation
After your adventure has begun, you must create the Pages for your adventure. There are many parts to a Page.
Text
This is the main body of your page that explains what happens here.
TIP:
The text for your page can be no more than 1800 characters long.
Image
If you'd like to place an image in this part of your story, enter the image in the box provided.
Your images MUST come from a Neopets server. Neopets servers are www.neopets.com or images.neopets.com. This is to prevent any inappropriate images from being used.
Exits
This is where you set the path your hero will travel along. People playing your adventure will need somewhere to go, right? :) Select the page you'd like them to go to, and type in some text for the link.
TIP:
If you'd like to have your hero choose between more than one exit, you can set up to 4 links to choose from.
If you have no other pages to link to, skip the links section, finish creating the current page, and then create one or more other pages. Once those are created, you can go back and edit the first page to add links to it.
End
Every adventure must come to an end eventually. :) There are 2 types of endings: Dead end and Finish Line.
If your hero (or villain) fell down a well, went insane, or was otherwise not successful in completing your adventure, choose Dead End.
If the hero saved the princess, found the treasure, or was otherwise successful in completing your adventure, choose Finish Line.
Only people reaching one of your Finish Lines will count when tallying now many people successfully completed your adventure.
TIP:
Perhaps your Hero needs to choose between saving the princess or finding the treasure? They may meet their doom along the way by being smashed by a giant boulder or falling down a bottomless pit (dead ends), but they can end up at one of your two finish lines!
Master List
Your master list shows you all the information regarding your adventure. It also shows you the pages you've created, and lets you edit/delete those pages.
Edit Your Adventure Properties
This is where you can change your adventure's properties. The title, land, category, colors, and suppression can all be changed here.
Lock/Unlock Your Adventure
See Lock/Unlock in Completing Your Adventure.
Edit
Clicking this button will edit the cooresponding page. You can change the text, image, links, and any other aspect of the page.
TIP:
If you're having trouble deciding where a page will link to, you can always come back and edit it later.
Delete
This will remove the page from your adventure. However, you must always have a Page 1. You may edit it, but you can't delete it.
TIP:
Remember that if you delete a page, you'll need to go back and edit any pages that were linking to the deleted one.
Completing Your Adventure
There is one last step to complete before your adventure is ready for others to play it.
Lock/Unlock
Once you are finished with your adventure, you must lock it so that others can play it. To lock an adventure, click on the 'lock your adventure' button on the master list page. Conversely, if your adventure is locked you are not allowed to edit it. You must first unlock your adventure before you can make changes.
Remember, no one can play your adventure or see it on your lookup until you've locked it.TIP:
Any games that were in progress using your adventure will be deleted, and so will your ratings! So be sure you're done when locking your adventure, and be sure you really want to change your adventure before you unlock it.
