Every year, during the last half of the Month of Collecting, Neopians flock to the giant pumpkin patch, where pumpkins of every imaginable size and shape can be found. These Pumpkins are used to carve scary Jack-O-Lanterns for Halloween, making tasty treats like pies or seeds, for making toys, furniture and even weapons! Did you know there are even Petpets created from Pumpkins? So many Pumpkin goodies, and you can find them all here at Pumpkin Palooza! Not too keen on Pumpkins? Carve an Apple Lantern instead! Pumpkin Facts
  • Pumpkins are fruits, not vegetables. Pumpkins are a member of the gourd family, which also includes squash, cucumbers, and melons.
  • Pumpkins have been grown in North America for five thousand years and are indigenous to the western hemisphere.
  • Pumpkins are low in calories, fat, and sodium and high in fibre. They are good sources of Vitamin A, Vitamin B, potassium, protein, and iron.
  • The largest pumpkin ever grown weighed 1,140 pounds. It was grown by Dave Stelts of Ohio, in the year 2000.
  • Pumpkin seeds should be planted between the last week of May and the middle of June. They take 90-120 days to grow and are picked in October when they are bright orange in colour. Their seeds can be saved to grow new pumpkins the next year.
  • The largest pumpkin pie ever baked was 350 pounds and five feet in diameter.

    Legends say that they used to make these pies out of something other than pumpkin in the past....
