Questions to the King of Meridell
By Anjie

Should I breach the massive moat
And navigate long halls?
Find my way through castle's rooms
And past the ancient walls.
Skarl's throne room I would seek out,
If he would just comply.
I'd have a list of questions there,
To which he may reply.

How can one with so much gold
Be such a grumpy king?
Does his wealth not lavish joy,
Or anger does it bring?
How many rooms are hidden there,
Within that castle, high?
And who does King Skarl have to clean,
And who would dare to try?

Has he met Turmaculus,
Who lies near castle's door?
When the massive Petpet sleeps,
The kingdom hears each snore!
Has Skarl ever tried his hand,
At rolling famous cheese?
Dodging rocks on massive hill,
And winding through the trees.

Would he heed me if I called,
And would he hear my cry?
I'll ask can Shape Shifter be won,
(I'm scared to even try!)
I'd take a seat upon his throne,
"Now chat!" I'd loudly say.
Before he gave an angry roar,
And guards dragged me away!

Abominable Beast
By Keikotoriyamacatnip

Frozen tundra frontier,
Icy air crisp and clear,
Is that falling snow I hear?
Or is it the sound of fear?

Snow dancing to the ground,
Only wind makes a sound,
The powder forming mounds,
White landscape profound.

Behind the facade of night,
A creature with fur so white,
Teeth glistening in moonlight,
Eyes a deranged sight.

Motionless, standing still,
A chase, the hunt, the thrill,
Waiting within the placid chill,
An empty void he cannot fill.

Only night reigns supreme,
Upon the vast, cold gleam,
Not all is as it may seem,
In the depths of a snow dream.

Where has the creature fled,
Into the forest of trees so dead,
Or perhaps where evil may tread,
Cast in his eyes of red.

Cries echoing against silent air,
Fading into snow so fair,
Only his gaze seems to stare,
As he enters darkened lair.

Encased in a powder flow,
Saddened eyes only show,
A beast that no one does know,
Abominable Bori of the snow.

Peekaboo, Symol!
By Scenette

A brave Krawk did but slide
Right inside the Symol Hole!
He pops back up; in confidence, there's pride
And happiness right through his soul!
What did happen down there, you ask?
Well, I couldn't say for sure
To get inside is a different task,
Should we really ask for more?

It was pitch-black dark,
There was a muffled sound --
A new journey on which the Krawk must embark,
And explore but all around.
With a "peekaboo!" the Symol cried,
Jumping out of nothingness -- nowhere.
Deep under Meridell's hillside,
The Krawk was free, thanks to a Symol,
Of worry and despair.

Kauvara of Stars
By Togepi_forever

I rise every morning
And look at the new day.
As the time passes on,
What will come my way?

I head down to my magic shop,
And open up the doors;
Soon I know that customers
Will fill up every floor.

They come to see what I have made,
Potions of all kinds.
None can make these except me,
For these are wondrous finds.

I am Kauvara, Kau of Stars,
Neopian Extraordinaire.
Nanka Bottles, Morphing Potions --
All are oh-so-rare.

But why do all Neopians wish
For potions such as mine?
Can't they see that how they are
Is working out just fine?

Is it for some status,
To seem better than they are?
Or do they all truly believe
That they can touch the stars?

I, for one, shan't kill those dreams,
For dreams are all we have.
Keep pressing forward, moving on...
We'll reach the stars someday.

Of Bori Miners
By Mithril_mithrandir

Dripping, chipping, coughing, hacking,
Sighing, beating, swinging, whacking.

Day in, day out, in wan lantern light,
Tunneling hard, all through the night.
Rock is a-flying, air filled with stone,
Each breath is a burden we carry alone,
Wheezing and coughing, struggling to breathe,
Blocking those dust motes, too small to perceive.

Dripping, chipping, coughing, hacking,
Sighing, beating, swinging, whacking.

Weary and worn, we drag our stone feet,
Up the high mountains, then down the dirt street,
Marching so slowly, just crawling along,
Frowsy drooped heads too tired for song,
We each pull a load too heavy for one,
Groaning, and yet, the day's just begun.

Dripping, chipping, coughing, hacking,
Sighing, beating, swinging, whacking.

Down into cavern, where darkness does swell,
With lanterns with flames too meagre to dwell,
So in blackness we chip, we hammer away,
Hoping our strength, though little, shall stay,
All the time trying to find this thing or that --
We're blind in the dark, yes, blinder than bats.

And yet, somehow, we couldn't survive
Without the conditions we have all the time;
We are Bori miners, tough to the core,
Our life is no less, our life is no more
Than dripping, chipping, coughing, hacking,
And sighing, beating, swinging, and whacking.
