The Esophagor
By Hollowkat

Cast in the back of the Haunted Woods,
You rise out of the ground,
Looking for those unsuspecting Neopets,
Who happen to wander 'round.

You offer them a quest of sorts,
and give them a surprise.
And if they do not help you,
They've found their own demise.

But for those lucky few
Who go find your request,
You grant them with your knowledge,
And then they get success.

For everything you tell them
Helps out the great Brain Tree,
Which helps them get some riches,
But only for a small fee.

Ode to a Werelupe
By Dianacat777

A full moon hangs, a golden coin
Among a sky of sapphire.
In the leafy forest depths
Glow two eyes of emerald fire.

Always watching, always stalking,
Ears perked up for sounds of prey,
Long brown fur matted and coarse --
Monster by night, pet by day.

Black claws click against grey stone,
Paws tread on dewy ground.
Curved fangs gleaming ivory,
What he seeks, unfound.

Behold the Werelupe, strong and wild.
A terrible curse to bear --
Oh, by day, he's just a pet
But by night, beware.

An Ode to Snow
By Mithril_mithrandir

Atop the icy ridges
Of Terror Mountain cold,
There in shadows lies
A shop of times of old.

Walking in you'll see
Snow, yes, snow all around,
From the snow corked tight in jars
To trampled snow on the ground.

There are snowballs aplenty,
Evil, peach, or spice --
Snowballs of every colour,
Every texture -- oh, how nice!

Snowflakes fall outside,
And inside this little store
Are snowflakes of each colour,
Wet snowflakes galore!

Snow trapped in a bottle,
Dirty snow, or fire,
Or snowball wands to be used
Only when need is dire.

As for food -- have you looked?
Everywhere is snow,
From fruity snowy puffs
To tasty snow-made toast.

For toys we have the snowglobe,
Snow sculptures furnish our homes,
There are games of snow out there,
Even snow-filled tomes!

All these items could be artifacts,
They were made so long ago,
And today they've helped us oh-so-much
That we've written an ode to snow.

Berry Hunt
By Timmy50701

Through the hills the Turmac rolls,
in search of any berry.
Some are big and some are small,
and some look even hairy.

While leaping over marshes
and hoping not to crash,
he dodges all those poison weeds,
so he won't get a rash.

The Turmac keeps on going,
steadily moving along.
While lost in concentration,
he begins to sing a song.

Berries all along the path,
their scent as strong as can be.
The Turmac thinks inside his head,
"Those berries are just right for me!"

Now much time has passed,
the hunt is finally done,
But the Turmac thinks quite happily,
"That hunt was so much fun!"

On Behalf of the Slushie Slingers of Neopia
By Christie500018

I went to a Yooyuball game yesterday,
And what happened was certainly not A-OK.
It started out fine but turned into a mess,
When a simple desire created much stress.

With two goals to nothing, my mouth was quite dry.
I wanted a burger or maybe some pie.
The sun, unrelenting, was much, much too hot.
"I need a slushie!" I suddenly thought.

I left my seat quickly and hurried on out,
Taking the shortest and most direct route.
I sincerely hoped it would take little time,
As missing too much would surely be a crime.

The line at the shop was a long one indeed,
As hundreds of fans were in desperate need
Of a thing cold and tasty to quench their thirst.
I joined the queue and soon wished I was first.

The line advanced at a Turdle's pace.
I shouted, "Come on! There's no time to waste!"
As the rest of the fans took up the chant,
The waitress stopped serving and shouted, "I can't!"

She shook her fist hard as tears in her eyes welled.
"You come to me all day for slushies!" she yelled.
"I rush back and forth, and my feet are so sore
From running to keep all your cups off the floor!"

She calmed herself down and went back to serving.
Her little tirade had been quite unnerving.
I ordered chokato and sat down to think.
My slushie, I saw, was an odd shade of pink.

I finished my drink and went back to my seat.
Getting that slushie had been quite a feat!!
But the moment I left the small shop I stood still,
For the large crowd of fans was now almost nil!

I glanced at the now empty field in dismay
And wondered what'd happened while I was away.
A minute it took 'til I could comprehend
That the Yooyuball game had come to an end!

"Just how long had I been in line?" I thought sadly.
I had wanted to see this game rather badly.
I wondered how many more fans missed the game,
But knew that the waitress shouldn't take the blame.

I went to my house and I wrote this long letter
With high hopes of making the Cup so much better.
The system of serving the slushies should change,
And a simple solution is right within range!

For those who work there, the teams that take part,
For the numerous fans who see only the start
Of a marvellous game played just one month a year,
I write this long letter for Neopia to hear!

They need more counters to shorten the queues,
Add a waitress so fans can get what they choose.
Recyclable cups save the waitresses' feet,
And will keep the shop floor all shining and neat.

I know this will take up much time and much money,
But the lines for the slushies are not at all funny!
But if in the end it is left all alone,
We might just resort to bringing our own.
