HALLOWEEN SPECIAL

All Hallows' Eve Is Sneaking Close...
By Bambipurr

All Hallows' Eve at midnight high
Edna's hour drawing nigh...
The Brain Tree throbbing in velvety dark
while Esophagor sends you on a senseless lark.

A shadowy figure, Count von Roo
skulking by, ultimate vampire Blumaroo,
And Ssssidney, always loose of tooth,
counting tickets in his booth.

Such is Neopia, or the Haunted Woods,
On Halloween night, when no one is good.
Costumed creatures here and there,
trickery and naughtiness is everywhere!

What is that, by the haunted house?
A tiny Tonu or a huge Miamouse?
All Neopets, and Petpets too,
have come out tonight...some crept, some flew.

Ghostly apparitions scream,
moaning voices from a nightmarish dream;
Goblins in the Games Graveyard
frightening this terrified bard.

Oh, moon so full, my words please heed,
cease the Eyries, Shoyrus, and the dark Nightsteed,
fluttering Korbats, creeping Wadjets --
no more of these Halloween pets!

Bubbling brews and powerful potions,
caudrons on fires, and terrible notions...
Bruno is watching from his lair in the woods,
and evil Cybunnies wear billowy hoods.

Thundering, thumping, heartbeating sound --
where does it come from? I look all around.
With trembling fingers I lift the door knocker high,
then shudder with fear when I hear the loud sigh.

Wiggly wormy things, wriggling near...
moist, misty fogginess, too dense to hear;
gooseflesh is rippling along my two arms...
Please don't let me come to any harm!

Please, no more screeching,
nor otherworldly moans!
No more heartbeating that forever drones!
It's All Hallows' Eve, and escape here I must...
I have to escape, but have no one to trust!

That Werelupe I know I cannot ask for help...
getting too close, he might make me yelp.
Oh TNT, please, help me get through this night
without losing my life to some ghastly fright!

Just when my shuddering mind comes loose
I run dead smack into that horrible noose.
Running amok, panic-stricken and lost,
I run in circles at a near-deadly cost.

Lo and behold, when I think I have been beat,
I fall, half-crazed, into a bone-throne seat.
I cast my eyes skyward and see, with relief,
the sky slightly lightening far to the east.

My night of terror, my eve of fright,
has given way to that blessed light.
All Hallows' Eve, in Neopia, is done.
For another year, at least, the terror is gone.

Haunted Night
By Keikotoriyamacatnip

Upon the grandest of all nights,
Spooky tales do weave around,
About the ghouls and monsters
Who haunt Neopian grounds.

From off in the distance,
A scream echoes in the air.
Mischief is upon the night,
All are in for a scare.

Dark Blumaroos
Scan the midnight skies,
Looking for trick-or-treaters
Whose treats will meet an untimely demise.

Watch out for Spyders
Who spin their webs of doom.
Mutant pets leap from depths,
Into terror one is consumed.

Be careful of old castles
And what may lurk within --
A restless Kacheek ghoul,
Who casts an "eliv" grin.

As Korbats fly into the dark,
Fear reaches its heightened peak.
All Neopets are out by now,
Of these tales they do speak.

Graveyard games are played.
The Haunted Woods abound
With pets, ghosts, and creatures,
Gasping their frightful sounds.

Edna prepares a magical brew,
To cast a spell upon the land.
The Neopets will serve her tonight,
All going as she had planned.

Whether Neopets are collecting treats
Or fleeing from fiendish ghouls,
Braving the creatures of the night
Might confirm that one is a fool.

So before one speaks ill,
Of chilling tales heard and seen,
Remember that no Neopet is safe,
On the night of Halloween!

The Great Halloween Gathering
By Orinoco_9

As the moon hangs high
over the Haunted Woods,
Neopets gather,
Wearing capes, fangs, and hoods.

Korbats in cloaks,
Chias selling sweets,
Gummy rats and ice cream,
Halloween treats!

JubJubs and Moehogs,
Music all night,
The Brain Tree cackles:
"It's time for a fright!"

Bobbing apples start;
For the best team,
a really rare gift
In a Halloween theme!

The music is loud,
All the faeries dance;
Ixis and Scorchios
Clumsily prance!

A small speech is now given,
All Neopets cheer!
"Until the next time,
have a good year!!!"

A Poor Kacheek Named Albert and the Old Esophagor
By Tribescribe

If you step into the Haunted Woods
Where Slorgs and Korbats roam,
Beware the old Esophagor
In his mutant graveyard home.

He lives where games are left to rot,
Where brave pets fear to tread,
Where a poor Kacheek named Albert waits
And wishes he were dead.

For on a night (just like tonight)
When good pets were asleep,
Albert (who was spotted)
Was enslaved by a globulous heap.

He was blue and oozed and slobbered;
He was built into the floor,
And Albert knew (too late, 'tis true)
'Twas the dread Esophagor.

Not only was he captured,
Not only was he tied,
The poor Kacheek was changed -- in fact
He was transmogrified!

His mutant body, blue and pink,
His bulging brain exposed!
His teeth now fangs, his eyes gone red,
His rosiness un-rosed!

And so he lived (or tried to live),
A slave, a toy, a tool
To something not Neopian,
Some otherworldly ghoul.

Until, one chilling Halloween,
While waiting out the night,
Albert saw a mirror
And declared, "This is not right!

How dare he keep me prisoner?
How dare he change me thus?
How dare he make me serve him
In this life so odious?"

The Esophagor was listening.
Could it be he had a soul?
He offered Albert solace
And made his body whole.

His spots were all respotted,
His brain tucked back inside,
His eyes set back as they once were,
His tangled fur untied.

For one night, Albert traveled free.
For one night, life unbound.
He dressed up as a Werelupe
(A very scary hound).

He traveled through Neopia,
He went from door to door.
He gathered candy by the bag
And then went back for more.

At last, when he was tired,
He sought his domicile.
He slept inside his own four walls,
His face set in a smile.

That morning when he woke up
And set to eat his spoils,
He found it had been stolen
By a pack of hungry Noils.

They left him just the wrappers,
No candy could be found.
And then he saw his foot,
Next to the wrappers on the ground.

It was not black and yellow;
It now was blue as blue.
His brain was once again exposed,
A mutant through and through.

His front yard was not there,
When he opened up his door.
Instead he found a graveyard
And that cruel Esophagor.

"Did you think you could escape me?
Did you think you had a say?
Did you think that you could leave me
For a night of games and play?

Look, the sun is running!
The air is dark and grey!
For I hurt you more to give you things
And take them all away!
And on this wicked Halloween,
You'll know you're mine to stay!"

So Albert was a prisoner
Just as he'd always been.
In fact, he was a puppet
Made to dance on Halloween.

And if you hear a moaning,
It may not be a ghoul --
It may be poor dear Albert,
A captive and a fool

Neopian Trick or Treat!
By Anjie

Eerie falls this hallowed eve,
The pallid moon shall rise.
A haunting beacon far above,
Held in the midnight skies.
On Neopia's most wicked night,
Pets run from street to street,
Knocking on each friendly door
To cry out, "Trick or Treat!"

Imagination is the key,
To costumes worn tonight.
Designed to disguise, made to fool,
And formed to cause a fright.
Some are draped in robes of Sloth
Or graced with faerie wings.
Potato sacks and Blechy hats,
All kinds of fancy things!

Jack-o-lanterns leer and glow,
To light the eerie way!
Barren trees with creaky boughs,
In chilling breeze do sway.
In giggling groups the pets will walk,
And knock, from door to door.
Treats fill buckets, pails, and bags,
With candy and much more.

Spooky tales passed around,
As pets collect their loot.
Pails filled with chocolate treats,
With lollies, coins, and fruit.
Once a year comes Halloween,
Pets treasure every sweet!
When costumed folk knock at your door,
You'll hear them, "Trick or Treat!"
