Mister Scary

She saw the kindness in his eyes,
Although they were bloodshot and red.
She knew the hunger that he faced,
So thin that he was nearly dead.

She cared for him, more than a pet,
The Korbat was to her a friend.
She called him "Mister Scary," and
She would until the very end.

The kindness Sally showed to him
Was more than he had ever known.
Lord Darigan had been cast out
Of power, and his very home.

But Sally gave him food and drink,
And Mister Scary did survive.
All thanks to Sally, his small friend,
Who saw the kindness in his eyes.

A Korbat's Halloween

Rustling wings sound in the dark,
Silent in death of night,
A closer step each flap does mark
To his quarry, now in sight.

Ears receptive to every sound,
Every thump and snap and creak;
Eyes wide open, bright and round,
Moving shapes it seeks.

His body tilts, he makes a dive,
Behind him streams a tail,
His cape flutters as if alive,
Wide open, like a sail.

Borne upon a cool, firm breeze,
His target is quite clear --
Above the roofs, above the trees,
He stops at once, for he is here.

The Korbat rushes to the door,
Leaves crunch beneath his feet,
He rings the bell, waits one moment more --
As it opens, cries, "Trick or treat!"

The Korbat

On sleek velveteen wings he soars
Through the eerie Haunted Woods,
Shunned by those of the outside world,
He is merely misunderstood.

Certainly, though, he lives for the night,
Come twilight his day has begun,
Flittering and frolicking the hours away
For is not the moon as lovely as the sun?

And surely even in the bravest hearts,
Fear his appearance may induce,
Though in spite of his vampiric fangs
His favorite drink is apple juice.

Indeed the Korbat is a splendid creature,
With gleaming claws and majestic wings,
Courageously they will fly into battle,
Whether plushies, mutants, or kings.

So worry not, my dear friends,
When a Korbat has come out to play,
For in jubilation we must take part
On this wonderful Korbat Day!

Korbats of the Night

Two lone Korbats flying through the air,
Sticking together, staying in a pair.
Being cautious, being weary,
On a night that's dark and dreary.
Wings spread out, they're soaring high,
But where are they flying, and why, why, why?
Flying over Tyrannia, Faerieland,
and the Space Station,
Looking down on them all, what a sensation.
They glance at each other
before starting to descend,
Their night of flying is coming to an end.
But what is their destination,
to where have they flown?
Unfortunately, that isn't known.
These two Korbats are secretive creatures,
That is just one of their noticeable features.
So if you would really like to find out,
I'm sure that they'd tell you, without any doubt.
Just go and find them, but remember one thing,
Put a smile on your face -
think of the joy it will bring!
