NEOPETS BIRTHDAY SPECIAL
Seven Scorchio shortcakes
With seven yellow candles
Seven windup toy Draiks
With seven quirky handles
Seven boxes inspired by 'Nimmo gift ideas'
Seven crystal glasses each with Thyora's tear
Seven Shoyru songs - mellifluous sounds indeed
Seven meaty pies - filled with tan-hued seeds
Seven pretty-covered tables
All decked with luscious treats
Seven rainbow bubbles
'Cos each year's no mean feat
A feast with seven flavours -
One for each fruitful year
And gifts galore for all -
Each pet we hold so dear
For seven candles will be blown;
One for each glorious year
That Neopets has been through
Since Neopia landed here.
Happy 7th Birthday Neopets!
Happy Birthday, Neopia!
They say you were born of Sloth and Faeries,
But somehow I know better;
You began as Adam's brainchild,
Lock, stock, and ichored letter.
He gathered like-minded people,
Who gave us points and dung,
Chock full of fun and weirdness
Our Neopia has become!
They tease our brains with Mystery Pics,
And Lenny's tough Conundrums,
Blessing our days with Faerie Quests,
And our nights with Island Drums.
Wait! Something Has Happened!
We hold our bated breaths,
A Normal Golden Nerkmid!
Oh Neopia, you're the best!
Worlds of wonder on the map,
Games in plenty, Neohoming;
Keeping us glued to our keyboards,
In adventures we go roaming.
Artists, Poets, Fighters, Gamers,
Storytellers and New Pet Namers,
Along with avid Collectors
And hopeful restock Prospectors,
All of us gather in this place
To give Neopia a brand new face.
So thanks to all, both players and team,
Happy Birthday, Neopia: a million minds' dream!
Neopets Has a Birthday!
Another page was slowly turned,
The day was drawing near.
The culmination of all weeks,
That came but once a year.
Massive parcels did arrive,
All brightly tied with string.
Anticipation filled the air,
What would the big day bring?
A birthday in Neopia,
The worlds all did rejoice!
Excitement dwelt on every face,
And lingered in each voice.
Grand celebrations would be held,
Parades, perhaps a feast.
Presents, games and bright balloons,
A massive cake, at least!
The Chias planned a great parade,
The Chombies wrote a song.
An off-key tune that was quite loud,
When all pets sung along.
Draiks did soar in clouds above,
With banners held in claw.
Vivid signs of birthday cakes,
That no pet could ignore!
Brilliant globes as bright balloons,
Were hung outside each shop.
Streamers glistened from the sky,
The faeries chose to drop.
Midnight fell, the clock did chime,
All felt such thrills within.
A massive trumpet sounded out,
The fun could now begin!
A Great Surprise
It was a day like any other,
Slowly, stretching, from my sleep,
I rose from underneath the covers,
And stood with an enormous leap.
I crept downstairs to make a smoothie,
Or perhaps some borovan,
When suddenly, without a warning,
Something strange delayed my plan.
I looked over my massive shoulder,
(Elephantes are huge you know),
And there I saw a funny sight,
A thing that made my brown eyes grow.
It was a streak of golden yellow,
Strung up high upon my wall.
And with it hung a pack of ribbons,
Bundled up into a ball.
On it was some purple writing,
Something I could not decide,
For in the way of those large words,
Balloons were jostling high and wide.
But what is this, this cheerful banner,
Doing hanging by my door?
And why are all these balloons floating,
Bouncing, falling, on my floor?
I stood, perplexed, by this strange view,
As dark blue ribbons wavered by,
And found myself still more surprised
When something slowly said, "Hey, hi!"
I spun around; my feet were shaking,
Who had entered in my house?
When quietly, from out the corner,
Crept a silent, small Psimouse.
With it came all my dearest friends,
Still hidden by my favorite chair.
"Surprise, my friend!" they said at once,
"Get ready for the grand affair!"
"But what on earth?" I said aloud,
"You must have been mistaken,
For it is not my birthday now."
"Don't worry, bring the cake in."
My friend, Lilly, the green Shoyru,
brought in a gorgeous, frosted cake.
"I did it all myself," she said.
"It nearly took two hours to make!"
I was confused, I did not know,
What all of this good cheer was for.
But then I looked at that banner,
That still hung limp above the door.
"Happy Birthday!" the banner read,
And then it finally dawned on me,
That this was that one time of year
To have a special grand party.
I thanked my friends, approached the cake,
And got as close as I could get,
I blew out every candle there,
A Happy Birthday, Neopets!
A Year in Neopia
Bring out the cake and get your presents ready,
Prepare your mouth to shout hooray!
In tribute to eight years of running steady,
Give Neopia a happy birthday!
The last time we had this type of grand party
Was way back in the Month of Storing last year.
Many things have happened since that jubilee;
Take a slice of cake
As we reminisce on them here...
For one thing, the desert city
This fantastic thing was quite the shock, I know,
It would never return, its inhabitants feared,
But it came back in the end, with Qasala in tow.
Jub Zambra and his Cobrall
Charmers set up camp,
Coaxing their trained serpents
To dance for the crowd,
For music-hungry pets
That down the dusty streets tramp
Who throw coins in his cap
And cheer for him loud.
Biscuit became more than just a tasty treat,
And Petpets could at last take on Darigan's evil
(Or should that be Kass? For it was by his deceit
That Darigan gained a reputation for being cruel).
Xweetoks leapt into Neopia,
Scampering through trees,
Their fur gleaming and
Sleek tails waving in the air,
Their big shiny eyes
Can win them all that they please
To say no to the cuteness
Is a feat no one would dare.
After them came the great Ogrin, pulling a sleigh,
With bells round his neck and a smile on his face.
He'd come miles through snow
And laughed all the way.
He made up for in grins what he lacked in grace.
Gnorbu and Lutari caused quite a stir,
One frolicked through meadows; the other swam,
Lutari could whiz through water in a blur,
Gnorbu spent time eating grass
At the speed of a clam.
There was much ado over
The thousands of lights in the sky
When Neopia's first observatory opened in Altador
If you looked hard at the stars,
Straining your eyes to try,
You could see the twelve Protectors
Of ancient lore.
Altador got more attention
When a sport event was planned:
A Yooyu as a ball,
And the great golden Cup for the trophy.
Teams of skilled players
Came from every known land
To fight and win, and be named
The best for the world to see.
A mysterious ship appeared
On the shores one day
With a mystery circulating around its crew.
After a storm, the mapmaker
Was lost in sea spray
Leaving the ship with one hand too few!
We had to assist the Defenders of Neopia again,
Fighting a mummified Eyrie
And a clown gone wrong.
Helping defeat evil beasts
That are Judge Hog's bane
Earned us the Defenders' respect
For playing along.
We learned to draw a Meepit
And how NOT to draw a Rock Petpet!
And if you've been robbed by it,
The Mutant Kadoatie's in the Battledome,
Waiting to be met.
The Weewoo came in four new colors
To celebrate the 250th Neopian Times
Plushies and toys went to different stores
Lovable plushies now had their chance to shine.
All these things have gone by in just one year
And when we think of all that we've done
The population on Neopia shouts in cheer
And wishes the world another year of fun!
