The Dancer
By Sheep_416

You dance through summer's sweltering days,
Bounding and bowing with eyes all ablaze,
Heat and midday's heavy haze
May try, but you, they cannot faze.
Spring shies in with April showers
But still you frolic 'round the flowers,
Though it rains for hours and hours
It's nothing to your dancing powers.
Autumn brings it blust'ring winds
Where leaves and trees and life has thinned,
Yet once again the dance begins
As to the air your moves are pinned.
Now winter's cooking up a storm
As snowflakes wake and frostbite yawns,
And even though you're tired and worn
You smile and dance into the morn.

A Sonnet to Balthazar
By Generic_idiot

Set with trusty net so tightly woven,
Malicious glimmer shines through narrow eyes,
This Lupe stalks through peaceful faerie's coven,
With such a clever shadowy disguise.
Then swiftly this pretense is at its end,
Looming o'er these frightened pixies he stands,
Glass jar gapes wide, why?
Soon we'll comprehend,
Money, temptation offers is at hand.
With valued captives at his side he leaves,
Returning once again to market place,
Where honest folk set up by furtive thieves,
Zar's shop now holds each faerie's display case.
But once a week go near the Money Tree,
And perhaps you'll grab one of his for free.

To Be a Hero
By Snowflakegirl94yaho

One day, as I wandered
The streets of Faerie City,
A portal to Altador opened,
A place of beauty and mystery.

I found myself in the center
Of a large and glorious hall
And around me were great statues;
I counted twelve in all.

From gladiator to dreamer,
Farmer to king,
Protector to thief, they all stood
Unafraid of anything.

Was a hero born or made? I asked
As I stood in their presence.
Were heroes rare in our times,
An uncommon occurrence?

Perhaps there's more to a hero
Than battles and statues of stone,
Maybe it means standing tall and firm
And going forward even when you're all alone.

Maybe the mystery of Altador
Does not lie in the faraway stars,
Maybe the mystery really is
If there are still heroes in Neopian hearts.

Buccaneer
By Destervetha

Oh, Mystery Island's got spices,
And Faerieland? Trinkets galore,
The Lost Desert has painted Petpets,
But it's Smuggler's Cove I adore!

There isn't a market so sunny
Or convenient -- it's got every brand
As Krawk Island's own operation,
(For rock-bottom prices it's grand!)

If you want something neat look no further,
We'll buy and sell no questions asked.
Just keep a close eye on your pockets--
And look out for deep hoods and masks.

Though life here is, true, a bit shady,
You just can't buy this kind of fun!
Will you sail with me to Krawk Island?
For quick trip my ship is the one!

You can call me a Pirate, for certain,
But I really prefer buccaneer.
True, I work on a galleon and steal things--
But hey, it's a free country here!

Constellations
By Thegreymaukin

Tears of a goddess bright'ning the night,
Riddled with passion, inflamed yet sincere.
Crystalline wishes of joy and delight,
Reflecting beauty and sorrow
With the face of a mirror.

The lustrous words of angels' chorus,
Broken into a million shining shards.
Within them fire and knowledge burns,
A secret only one determinedly guards.

Could constellations spell the end
For a people brave and bold?
Or could they hold the key to truth--
A legend waiting to unfold?

For heroes trapped in the stone of time,
Our battles we must choose.
They lie in wait, carved into the stars,
Awaiting flags of victorious hues.
