TONU DAY SPECIAL

Stampede!
By Numbertwelve

Thundering 'cross the arid plain,
Wind whipping through ruffled mane,
Into jungle, water and underbrush,
Can nothing stop the great Tonu rush?

Past snow capped mountains,
Wherein great ice snake lies,
Over desert sand and desert dune,
Always running -- they'll be there soon.

Corded muscles in brawny legs,
Propelled like exploding powder kegs,
The stampede moves determinedly,
To where they'll find their reverie.

Towards a place where's begun,
A celebration for each and every one,
Of the stampeding Tonu clans,
A party laid by masterful plans.

And they arrive -- their journeys done,
They gather together under glittering sun,
They toast and cheer and well they feed,
Then it's done, they go their separte ways,
Back to their homes,
In a thousand directions,
The Tonu Stampede!

Ode to the Tonu
By Soaringeagle25

How doth thy little Tonu?
On thine special day
Earn thy celebration
As ye party and play.

How doth thy little Tonu?
Happen upon such a perfect horn
That thou uses on thy enemies,
Sharper than any sword.

How doth thy little Tonu?
Get so fleet of foot
Ye tear, tear through mountains
With not a second look.

How doth thy little Tonu?
Find thy prideful mane,
Regal and sophisticated,
It does good to thy name.

How doth thy little Tonu?
With ye nose stronger than strong,
Thou sniff out thine intruders,
Before they near ye tail long.

How doth thy little Tonu?
Seek thine amazing eyes,
Stronger than an Eyrie's
Thou can see for miles without a surprise.

How doth thy little Tonu?
Learn of such personality
Fierce as a Kougra, gentle as a Baabaa,
Lover of books and philosophy.

How doth thy little Tonu?
How did ye get it all?
Such a faithful friend,
There at every rise and fall.

A Wish For A Tonu
By Rhiannonleigh1979

I've waited for you overlong,
Meet me hither and bear me fast
When the grasses are thick and green
And wet with the morning tears of dawn.
When Gathering has wept its last
Your single horn spiring aloft,
Gentleness, strength and nobility,
Such monumental rarity!
Will I ever feel your thunder-stride
Rushing beside me -- fearless, free?

Tonu, where is your hidden place?
I watch for you as the sun sinks west
Over bloom-studded meadowlands,
Is that your mountainous shadow traced
Upon the golden horizon?

I've waited and I ever will
For this all-elusive majesty,
The day will come when we shall ride,
Hearts unbroken, harmonious still
Never more will distance divide

A Mutant Tonu Squeezy Toy
By Silent_snow

The restockers had finally gone
When the shopkeeper brushed off herself,
But while turning away, she was surprised to see
One toy left on the shelf.
It was icky, slimy, and utterly gross,
It could not possibly bring joy,
And it had not been bought that day --
That mutant Tonu squeezy toy.

The shopkeeper paused -- now what to do?
With this item which would not sell,
No use putting it on the Money Tree,
The very sight of it would repel.
No pet would want to play with that thing
Of that she was quite sure,
But she still could not stop
A sad twinge in her heart,
For the toy sitting there, demure.

Suddenly, the door opened, bells merrily rang,
The shopkeeper turned full about,
A young, carefree Moehog had just walked inside,
A smile spread over his snout.
"Please, ma'am," he said lightly, lifting up a hoof,
"There's a toy I need to buy."
"I'm sorry, but we're sold out right now,"
The shopkeeper forced herself to reply.

The Moehog looked around, then spotted the toy
That had been neglected before,
"But ma'am," he chuckled, pointing to it,
"There's still that one left in the store."
"Do you really want it?" the shopkeeper inquired,
"Even though it's nasty, filled with goo?"
"It's for my sister," the Moehog simply replied,
"And she's a mutant Tonu, too."

Famous Tonu Ghosts
By Anjie

Eerie tome so sinister.
Each chapter? Full of fear.
Listing every Tonu Ghost
They come when midnight's near.

Specters cast in Tonu shape,
Of them does dark book warn.
Tonu spirits cast in rage,
And those sad and forlorn.

Poltergeists within this book,
"Stay back" does each page warn.
Avoid the tip of Tonu's snout,
And dodge past each sharp horn.

Dread the wrath of those long gone,
Who dwell within each page!
Tonus roaming from the past,
Who've haunted for an age.

Some lurk near the Haunted Woods,
A few on Plateau, bleak.
Others dwell in icy caves,
Upon white mountains peak.

Surely this is fallacy?
These beasts the book does list.
Crimson eyes and charging form,
Can such a thing exist?

Read the book with ounce of salt,
Recall the names it hosts.
Dim the light and close your eyes,
Believe in Tonu Ghosts!
