KAU DAY SPECIAL

Kaus Will Fly
By _Veronica_j

Deep in my heart is the sound of the forest;
Each tree knows my name,
Each blade of grass my footfall,
Here was my home in the midst of the forest.

The meadows still call to me with childlike mirth,
Many days have I spent in green pastures there,
Running with sisters and munching on heather,
But I will not be confined by memories of mirth.

For I long to be where
The sky knows no boundaries,
Where breezes give wings
To land-bound earth-trodders,
Where you would not expect
To see one such as me
Gliding with painted wings without boundaries.

I will not forget where I've come from,
But greener pastures cannot be found,
I will not be content
'Til I cut clouds with my horns,
Though I will not forget where I've come from

Kau Sand Dance
By Stariell

Deep down in the dunes,
In the evening's haze
The Desert Kaus gather,
For the latest craze.

As the ground slowly cools,
After the day's long heat,
The dunes start to echo
With a strange new beat.

Hooves step in time,
Heads dip and sway,
The Kaus are all doing
The sand dance today.

Along the river banks,
Where the Wadjets hiss,
The Desert Kaus go dancing,
On a night like this.

Watch the dance and soon,
You'll be under its spell,
Let your feet start to move
To the sound of the Kau bell.

From Sakhmet Palace,
Down to Coltzan's Shrine,
The Desert Kau go dancing,
Until the moon starts to shine.

Ode to Kalora the Kau
By Driftingontheocean

What can we say of Kalora?
She shines in our hearts, we adore her!
When playing at Cheat
She looks awfully sweet,
With her colourful clothes
That could light up a street,
With sunlight and starshine and streamers!

Her eyes are like chocolate eclairs,
Her hooves are as quick as the air,
Without her around,
Pain and sadness abound,
And all through Neopia
Low cries resound:
"Where are you Kalora? Kalora?"

We wanted to write her a song,
But the notes sort of came out all wrong,
An "Ode to a Kau"; how wonderful how
In poetry words can make music somehow,
And tell her expressly,
How much she endlessly,
Means to us, Kalora the Kau.

The Kau's Crystal Ball
By Really_awesome_d00d

The darkness reeks of sweet perfume,
Hot and thick within the velvet fold.
Into the star-studded tent you venture
To have your intricate fortune told.

Sitting before her crystal ball,
Which is aglow with stellar light,
Is a golden-eyed Kau seeress
A most peculiar sight.

Garbed in robes of purest silk
And velvet of pristine hues,
Golden hoops hang from her ears,
As do gems of greens and blues.

"I am a seer, as you know,"
Her whispery voice as cool as fall,
"Now come along, my darling,
And gaze deep into my crystal ball!"

You do as she says and stare within
To the glassy orb before her.
"Wait! I see, I see it now!
Sweet Fyora, the horror!"

"You'll lose your wealth, and items too.
From sadness your fur shall turn blue.
From rainy wind you'll get D'achoo,
Your future is dim, through and through!"

"Your Petpet will flee and run away,
And here you listen when I say:
Your future is not bright, you see.
Now, give me my well-earned money."

You hand the seeress three shiny coins
At which she scoffs with a grumble.
With an idle hoof she shooes you out,
And into the light you stumble.

A Kau's Story
By Kushbi

It was cloudy, one sad day,
When a Kau came over to stay,
She was a woeful shade of grey,
A personification of dismay.

Ask not where she left her smile,
It hasn't been seen for quite a while,
Her gloomy eyes gaze joylessly
At all attempts to make her cheery.

Some may think her sorrow cute,
A sigh that aspires to amuse,
But being an owner of a Neopet
So melancholy -- who'd like that?

But to turn away a Kau,
Depressed, forlorn and looking down?
Her eyes plead silently to me,
Be kind and nice or she will weep.

Thus with not a little doubt,
I welcome her into my house,
Bearing hope that she'll fit in,
Or at least, not spread the misery.
