YURBLE DAY SPECIAL
The Grey Yurble's Change
"Hip, hip, HOORAY!" the Yurbles all shout,
As they swing and dance all up and about.
They have every right; for it's Yurble day!
A day when all Yurbles come out to play!
As the bright Yurbles dance in the Neopian sun,
Aloof from the crowd sits a sullen grey one.
Not smiling, not rejoicing, this Yurble says nay,
But in his eyes you can see this is no happy day.
Bags hang from his eyes,
Which are swollen and puffy,
He rubs his grey nose,
Which from tears is too snuffy.
His once sleek fur is matted;
His earstalks are a tangle
He looks sad and morose
From each and every angle.
As he sits and he sniffles,
A shy Yurble comes near,
A young one of pink fur,
Smiling from ear to ear,
She extends him a hand,
In which is clutched a small bloom;
He stares at the Pebeanjay
With eyes filled with gloom.
"Don't be sad, Mister, for it's Yurble Day,
The day for all Yurbles to come out and play!
Join in the fun; I'm sure you'll agree
That you'll soon be happy, trust me, you'll see!"
Taking his paw, she leads him away
From the abandoned alley where he fell astray.
She leads him into the Yurble-filled streets;
What a sight!
And suddenly, he sees things in a new light.
Sonnet of the Yurble Raider
You let no loyal bonds restrain your heart;
You fight for your own gain (and it alone),
Neutrality to keep the sides apart;
No choice 'tween Kass or Meridell, your home.
Both Citadel and City do you raid;
Plunder any within convenient reach.
No plague of guilt, of no regret afraid
You leave no opportunity -- take each.
Until, one day, when battle stormed the street,
Lord Kass demanded your allegiance pledge;
Rather than submit (or worse, retreat)
You attacked him, and escaped, the tales allege.
And now your bravery survives in glory,
Preserved within each immortal story.
The Greyest of Yurbles
Sadness it claims him 'most every day,
And he's become a pessimist in 'most every way,
Is there nothing to cheer up
The greyest of Yurbles?
Or will he sit alone forever,
With his grey set of marbles?
He rolls them around on the floor of his home,
They are his friends yet he's utterly alone,
But the greyest of Yurbles sheds not one tear,
For the Day of the Yurble is finally here.
Even the greyest of grey can slap on a smile,
Come out from his room and watch for a while,
The streets of Neopia are bustling with fun,
And high in the sky blazes the Neopian sun.
So the greyest of Yurbles
Comes out from his home,
Perhaps on this one day he will not be alone,
He marches outside and is greeted with cheers,
For all of the Neopets have waited for years.
They have all gathered here and waited to say,
And it's then that he realized that he is not grey,
Not grey like the sadness
That consumed his being,
He's grey like that wisdom he's finally seeing.
"It's a Yurble Day miracle!"
Those close to him proclaim,
And soon all of Neopia is shouting the same,
The "Wisest of Yurbles," his hermitage is done,
The time has come to celebrate Yurble Day
Under the Neopian Sun!
Silence in the Moonlight
Silence in the moonlight,
What a dreadful sound,
The Haunted Woods are quiet,
The chilly wind dies down.
A soundless sudden spark,
Amongst the creatures hiding,
Waiting in the dark.
This eerie place welcomes
A monster of its kind.
Trees bow quietly to it as
Air fills with dread sublime.
Each step this guest takes,
His gait a patient lumber,
Sends a tremor through the place,
To a witch in particular.
A rapt knock on her door
Breaks the spooky mood,
And those dodging the beast
Now feel a wee bit soothed.
Brimming with consternation,
Edna greets it with spite,
The Tax Beast takes her gold
And disappears into the night.
Soon he will come again,
None with taxes due can hide--
The Yurble always arrives,
Ever reliable, like moonlight.
Yurbles on Parade
Fifty feet below the sea,
Beyond the coast and sands,
The rocks, they shift and shiver,
Mystery Island's trees do quake,
The volcano is at unrest.
The snowflakes fall a bit faster,
The avalanches unfurl,
The glaciers and the caverns break,
And the Snowager does howl.
The waves grow in height,
The treasure becomes more hidden,
The Krawks aboard their pirate ships
Do tremble in dismay.
The pyramids dismantle,
King Coltzan breaks his stride,
The Palace walls began to fall
As the caravan arrives.
The invasion of Neopia
Is furry and it's true,
From black to white
To starry night,
It's Yurbles through and through!
