GREY DAY SPECIAL
The Benefits of Grey
By Amarinda
So it's grey, what can I say?
A color that is not.
And yet this dull and washed-out look
By many still is sought.
I asked a wise old Kougra
Just how it came to be,
That a color so depressing
Was everywhere to see?
"Why make grey food?" I said with a frown,
"It has so little taste."
He was quite calm, his answer came
Without a trace of haste:
"The flavor, true, is not so strong
As other foods you find,
But I prefer its delicate taste,
And the color I don't mind."
I shrugged, "I guess it's not as simple
As I had at first thought,
But yesterday, instead of rainbow,
A GREY Fuzzle I carelessly bought!"
He smiled, "Well, child, it was luck!
A mistake that turned out well.
Grey Fuzzles are the softest by far,
One look and you can tell!"
"Perhaps you have a point, so what?"
I wasn't about to quit,
"I know a point that's truly bad,
Even you will have to admit!
"Just look at those sad grey pets!" I cried,
"So melancholy, depressed!
Being painted so must torment them!"
This point I loudly stressed.
His eyes grew gentle, his voice was soft,
He thought before he spoke,
"Sometimes there is a place for sadness;
Life is not always a joke.
"Some find the grey avatar a plus,
But there's more to it than that,
When life is hard, and you start to despair,
Grey's a color you must look at.
"It's not so dark, it's not the end,
All still can be made right,
For although you now see that black exists,
Grey's, after all, half white."
Then at last I thought I understood
Why people sometimes chose grey,
Not just black or white, there's more to see,
So celebrate Grey Day!

A Grey Bit of Hope
By Sammi1389
Days as dull as a weathered stone,
Time as slow as a season,
Hearts as low as the oceans deep,
Blandness without a reason.
Seeing the world in all of its light,
Left in the shadow yourself,
Days when the land appears sunny and bright,
But sitting like dust on a shelf.
Pity is all that you say with your eyes,
When I sit there and softly do cry.
At times I do wonder if you only knew,
When you see me and on you walk by.
If everyone were grey for a moment,
Painted grey just for a day,
Then everyone would feel all the better
The instant the grey fades away.
They wouldn't take color for granted,
They'd smile when the world threw them down,
For no day is darker than a grey day,
And when they know this, they never will frown.
All that I ask is for you to be glad,
To spread forth the joy and the hope,
And when you walk past a grey one,
Do give them a smile;
Indeed, that's all that makes living worthwhile.

Gloomacinth
By Archangellight
I chanced upon a gloomacinth,
Just the other day,
In a dreary meadow,
Under a sky so grey.
A wilted daisy drooping,
With petals ever bleak.
No will to live or dream,
Nor ever the sun to seek.
Tell me, little gloomacinth,
Why are you so glum?
Though you seem so miserable,
Do try to have some fun!
I plucked the tiny blossom,
And to my nose held close.
I took a deep and hearty sniff,
Oh, what a scent morose!
Pathetic, ugly Gloomacinth!
I know why you are so sad!
Your odour is repulsive!
No nostril you make glad!

Greyness
By Flookadoobee
The sun is hidden by a cloud,
It will not shine today,
For everywhere for miles around
Is coloured in with grey.
Spare a thought for those poor pets
Whose colours once were bright,
Only to be painted grey,
Their world now black and white.
Never again can they skip in fields,
Collecting plants and flowers.
No, for now they're stuck indoors
In sad silence, for hours!
When other pets are having fun,
They yearn to tag along.
But being grey and smiling?
That would just look wrong.
So here's a day to celebrate,
Let's all wear grey and moan.
For once these poor grey Neopets
Won't have to be alone!

The Grey Parade
By Jazmiana
Open your eyes,
Open your mind,
Gaze in front,
And look behind.
Open your senses,
Open your heart,
The Grey Parade is about to start.
Spectators gather, the streets are bare,
They stand and watch and stop and stare,
The sky clouds over, dark as night,
Observers shiver and shriek with fright.
Birds fall slowly from the sky,
Flowers burn and wilt and die,
Your heart is turned at once to stone
By a passing flash of monochrome.
The parade advances, hear their plea,
Give in, embrace their apathy,
Be absorbed by a new obsession,
And learn to revel in their depression.
Acknowledge the beauty of being grey,
Begin to wish that they would stay,
But then it passes, marching on,
Colour returns, the parade has gone.
The crowds disperse and you depart,
A love for greyness grips your heart,
Climb into bed and start to beam,
Experience a wonderful dream--
Where the world is swathed in black and white,
There is no yellow or pink in sight,
There's only several shades of grey,
Not just once
But every day...
