The Thieves
By Cherrychocchip

"Why?" is the question always to ask,
"How?" is the query that follows the task.
The answer to both is that nobody knows,
For darkness works in mysterious ways.

We are the baddies with all the bite,
We are the faded whispers of night,
We are the demons, born of the stars,
We'll take all your stuff; you'll never get ours.

We steal the largest slice off the cake,
We show compassion, you know that it's fake;
No, we're not sorry for all of our deeds,
We enjoy our lives, so you'd better take heed.

I'll say this just once, and whisper it, too:
Our names must never be heard but by you,
We are the lost, hated and cursed,
We are the Thieves, the rhyme in this verse.

Vex
By Chuggurthecat

Deep in the bowels of the floating fortress,
With nothing to damp his inventiveness,
A warden of most evil repute,
Whose vile deeds none can dispute,
Promises freedom to those in his care
Who can beat him in a game of mastery fair.
Cellblock, he calls this marvelous game,
Developed with twists that echo his name.
If you challenge him while visiting,
Make certainly certain of one thing:
Bring snacks and drinks for all to share,
And something to stop you from pulling your hair.
This game is truly a masterpiece,
Developed with such expertise.
Unravel its mysteries, if you dare,
But be not caught in Vex's lair.

Smuggler's Cove
By Bellylaugh7

Waves, as they eddy and roar,
Tickle the tepid, sandy shore.
Neopets laugh and dance and play,
Building castles -- later swept away
By the tide, 'til they're no more.

Past these merriments I walked,
Thinking only of coins in my pocket,
For deep below the pure, white sand,
Travelers of many lands
Peddle items quite ill-got.

They say they offer things quite rare
In their secret shadow-lair,
From gourmet food to gilded sword--
All, they say, rest in their hoard!
Who knows what treasures await me there?

Into the darkness I cautiously ease,
Shadows heavier than gale-riddled seas.
Is that my heart that beats so loud?
Surely they can hear that sound!
With a gasp and a squeal I flee!

I admit, I confess, I ran screaming out,
Too frightened to speak and too shamed to shout.
Maybe tomorrow I'll gather my wits
(Which had, that day, shattered to bits),
And discover what Krawk Isle whispers about...

Mistress of the Double-Cross
By Kichiko28

She's wrapped in robes of royal purple,
Her fur well-groomed, a slick shade of green,
Her large eyes glint with mad desire,
And her paws are kept very clean.

She surrounds herself with many friends,
A voice laced with alluring tones,
The lady, by rather dubious ends,
Decorates herself with precious stones.

She claws her way up to the top,
Covering her tracks with the greatest care,
Deceit and flattery are the props
In the play that breathes in the lady's air.

Buying a ticket cannot be undone
In the rogue's lottery of dismal odds,
She enjoys the glee of discarding cards one by one,
For only ruin refunds faith that Masila's bought.

Neopian Times
By Kruisinkat

What wonders await you today?
As you open your front door,
There you see it, your golden prize,
Lying on the floor.

Brimming with excitement
You pick it up off the ground,
And tiptoe into your bedroom
Quietly, without a sound.

Carefully you open it
And marvel at its glory;
"How to play Scorchy Slots"
Or "Our newest adventure story."

"In which shall I indulge first?"
You wonder as you skim;
Filled with exciting articles,
Just one glimpse would make you grin.

Reading through the last few pages,
Sadness fills your mind,
As you sit and wait with anxiety
For the next Neopian Times.
