GRUNDO INDEPENDENCE DAY SPECIAL
Grundo Independence Day
It's Grundo Independence Day
Break forth in joyous cheers!
A day to be remembered, aye!
For years and years and years!
Old Sloth came and oppressed our folk
But we arose and broke his yoke
Sing hey! For Grundo Independence Day!
'Twas Grundo Independence Day
We first learned to be free
Since once to the station's looming bay
He'd brought us, evilly.
Space Faerie showed him his mistake
Invasion lost, we celebrate
The first new Grundo Independence Day!
On Grundo Independence Day
We mourn for Kreludor,
Where Sloth found us once years ago
And there he mines for ore.
Our home where Sloth holds power still,
Our kinfolk yet bend to his will;
They need a Grundo Independence Day!
But Grundo Independence Day
Is not a time for tears.
For what we have we'll loudly enjoy
And never bow to fears.
To free our kin we shall prepare
And meanwhile celebrate with flair!
Sing hey! For Grundo Independence Day!
Lament of the Spider Grundo
As I sit all alone
In my damp, dark little cave,
I think back on my time
As Dr. Sloth's slave.
I used to run errands,
They called me "the grunt."
Sometimes they'd kick me
And call me a runt.
Then Dr. Sloth made
A terrible mistake...
He gave me a potion,
And I started to shake.
I became but a shadow
Of my former self
With eight nasty long legs
That can reach any shelf.
I have scary red eyes
On top of my head
And fangs that make everyone
Run off in dread.
They think that I'm mean,
That I'll hunt them like game,
When in fact I'm a vegan,
And I really am tame.
They tell scary stories
All about me.
They come to my door
Only to turn 'round and flee
Before I can even venture "Hello."
They think I will harm them,
When in reality, no.
I'd like nothing better
Than to sit and to chat
But no one is willing
To see me like that.
So instead I sit all alone
In my damp, dark little cave,
And think back on before,
And pretend to be brave.
Neocola: The Grundo's Favorite Drink
Kreludor, alone in the dark sky,
Where orange Grundos do live, by and by.
Down in the warehouse it is endless toil,
Yet to their labours, the Grundos stay loyal.
They work through the long night
And cry "Heave-ho!"
Low were the spirits of Grundo and Co.
On the bright stars so many dared to hope,
Their weariness pass, oh then they could cope!
What was different on that one fateful day?
Which magical force sent help on its way?
Innocent were the Grundos, their hearts pure.
For whatever reason, there came a cure!
And lo! On the horizon came a shape,
Their wishes were answered -- perhaps escape?
On the great plains, it stood all alone,
Yet it looked steady, not meteorite prone!
Oh where did it come from? What did it mean?
Neocola Machine, where have you been?
Now what could coax the cola to come out?
"Not moon rock, not cookies,
Then what?" they pout,
From the ground, a Grundo loudly did pluck,
"A NEOCOLA TOKEN! What great luck!"
Blue, red and green they fit in the machine,
But on their surface was Sloth -- he's so mean!
Why are they engraved
With the Feared One's face?
Surely he could not come here! Not this place!
The colas were delicious, oh so cold!
Soon everyone drank, not only the bold.
With energy to work, the Grundos cheered,
But on a hidden ship, the Dark One leered.
Hence the many Grundo servants,
chained together by bars of steel,
working day and night it seemed,
pain was all that they could feel.
Till the day the clouds did part,
and the bright sun shone through,
Dr. Sloth looked up in disgust,
as the Grundos marveled at the hue.
Then Dr. Sloth began to shrivel,
and his figure went altogether,
and the Grundos knew they would be free,
not just now, but for forever.
And to this very futuristic year,
even the month of hiding's 24th day,
we celebrate this independence,
it's a time to eat and a time to shout "Hooray!"
At this time, the Grundos rejoice,
relive the moments both bad and good,
each one of them in brotherly love,
sitting down to eat their Independence Day food.
Ghartun The Grundo Commander
There's a Grundo Commander,
His name is Ghartun,
And if you ever see him,
Better start to run!
He's wicked and nasty,
He's ever so mean,
And so very unpleasant,
That his skin has turned green.
Ghartun rose to power
As Sloth's right hand minion,
But he's as bad on his own,
If you want my opinion.
Now Sloth is long gone,
Ghartun's out of control,
Don't cross his path or you may,
Pay a very hefty toll.
If you hear of his coming,
Then you'd best beware,
Or you may find some of
Your things just aren't there.
He's a thief, is that Ghartun,
To make all his profits,
He'll steal most anything,
Not in safety deposits!
The moral of this story,
For you knew it would come;
Just because someone's hefty,
Don't assume they're dumb.
Gartun's big and green,
But he's not all brawn,
If you misjudge his brains,
It will be your items that are gone!
