An Ode to Omelettes
By Mikeeckard

I've eaten many strange
And scrumptious dishes in my time.
Like jelly beans, all kinds.
It seems my favorite would be lime.
fresh lice rice--it's really nice
When eaten in its prime.
(But don't forget to sprinkle it
With just a pinch of grime)

I've eaten hair stuffed maggots
By the greatest cooks there are
Chicken legs and purple Neggs
And a mallowicious bar,
Pango chutes and doughnutfruits
And geopeppers by the jar.
(A geopepper is improved
By just a splash of vinegar.)

I often eat green pear drops.
They're grand when served beside
Big stuffed frogs and linked hot dogs.
And have you ever tried
Ransaurus steak or same of Draik
Most delicately fried?
(The only trouble is
They disagree with my inside.)

I'm crazy for sliced ummagine
On a piece of buttered toast,
Orange Neodrops and planet pops.
And then a gorgeous roast
Of horsefish, what a great dish --
Cost 5 dubloons at most.
(And it comes to you in boxes
If you order it by post)

And now comes, I do declare,
The point of this little chat:
These foods are rare beyond compare --
Some are quite hard to get.
But there's no doubt I'd go without
All of them you can bet
For one small slice,
One three-meal slice,
Of that Gigantic Omelette!

Song of Samrin
By Aurigryphon

Balthazar hungers and snoops about,
I have no staff to lend me clout,
I have but two hands and two feet,
I wish to save, he wants to eat.

But why my creatures? It makes me weep.
Why the dear ones that I keep?
These are my Petpets, not mere meat --
What others love, he loves to eat.

There is a Food Shop -- why not there?
Hubert's, the Bak'ry, ANYWHERE --
I hear Mc-Dee's is quite the treat
But NO, Petpets he wants to eat!

And so, alas, all day I toil,
Leave many paths atop the soil,
And run a race (he MUST be beat!)
What's in the pen, he cannot eat.

The day grows long, but I watch still,
Outside the pen, Petpets yet mill,
I have but two hands and two feet,
And yet, I swear, none shall he eat.

To Paint, Or Not To Paint?
By xKittymittyx

Oh! To be an invisible Neopet,
To dance at the hour when even stars sleep
And never be seen...
To slip past the guard at the "No Entry" sign
To creep amongst the faerie dances
High in the clouds --
But to never be seen ever again,
Even at the Chocolate Factory?
I couldn't do it.

I long for the feel of the baby brush
To tickle me 'neath my chin.
To be given free squishees and faerie cakes
Money from Granny for my birthday
To hit my older sister's Feepit
With my ABC blocks.
But the early nights,
The mugs of sweet milk,
The fluffy toys?
I couldn't do it.

Envy takes me at the sight of
An imperious Darigan pet,
When shopkeepers always
Agree to your haggles
When Coltzan gives you that extra level
(As long as you promise
Not to set fire to the shrine)
But for all your friends to run away
When you leave your Neohome
Just to play Tombola?
I couldn't do it.

What about the robot brush?
To manipulate the forces of magnetism,
So that every Fyora doll you pass
Flies into your paw
To turn on the lamp
On the other side of your Neoroom,
With just a flick of your tail.
But, to look in your mirror and notice
The rust on your face each morning,
And have to oil your joints,
And change your batteries?
I couldn't do it.

Perhaps I'm not cut out for painting
Perhaps the Rainbow Pool is not for me.
Maybe I am destined to stay
The same Level 1 blue Lupe
That I was born to be.
But I must remember that, however painted,
I am still the Level 1 blue Lupe at heart,
Even if the daunting Darigan exterior indicates
That I don't have one.

Meridell Pride
By Xaunt

Castles, trees, and bright green grass;
Meridell was not always here in the past,
Without much haste the world came to be
An interesting sight for all to see.

Neopians never pass up the chance
To race Turdles from their starting stance;
It's a challenge to win more than you bet
For those who cannot say "Go" after "Set".

Guessing the Marrow's weight is not bad
In fact it is becoming a popular fad
Some of them reach up to 800 pounds
It is true, though crazy it sounds.

Cheese Roller seems to be a favourite,
So many love it, few of them savour it.
Weaving and dodging stunts down a hill,
To get to the end you can not hold still.

So many goodies are held at the Dump
"Rubbish!" they say -- well, I say, "Hmph!"
Nonsense, it is pure treasure,
Taking it home is half of the pleasure.

The calming act of picking berries
Will not obtain you fancy Faeries;
If you collect dung, or other muck,
My friend, I'm sure you are in luck.

Meridell really is truly great
In its current steady state,
One of the best worlds ever made,
Come on down and quest the Glade.

Properly Cheesed
By Tree_rhymer

Well, I was in Meridell,
Just passing on by.
When a stand with blue shopkeeper
Happened to catch my eye.

He wore funny clothes,
And had a ridiculous hat.
But he sold even stranger things,
If you can imagine that!

He was displaying odd cheeses,
Of weird sizes and kinds.
For which the inventors
Must have been out of their minds!

He sold spicy juppie cheese
Which had a funny stink.
And the Alkenore cheese
Was unusual, I think.

There was purple spotted cheese,
I began to get sick.
But the Tyrannian dung cheese
I would never dare to pick!

The mutated cheese
Was not a pretty sight.
But the big beefy cheese
Looked like an appetizing delight!

There was a brain cheese, too
That is supposed to be smart.
But I think the triple mustard cheese
Would be way too tart!

The honey cheese looked good,
But it was dripping and gooey.
And I think the overgrown cheese
Would have been too chewy.

The quadruple fudge cheese
Looked too good to be true.
But the gooey snot cheese
Needed a tissue or two.

Bubbling blueberry cheese
I'd like to try.
But I decided that
The smoked Snorkle cheese
Was the one I would buy!

So I paid 300 Neopoints,
And went to the starting line.
And looked down a huge hill
That seemed to be fine.

But when I started out,
There were low hanging branches and lumps,
There were big huge logs
Plus potholes and bumps!

They were all in my way
As well as bushes and trees
While I tried to keep rolling
That smoked Snorkle cheese!

I finally passed the finish line,
After somersaults and dives.
I was weary to the bone,
And had spent all my nine lives!

I collapsed on the ground,
Tired but pleased.
I guess you could say,
I got properly cheesed!
