NEOPIAN TIMES SPECIAL
The Neopian Times
When I was a newbie
I dreamed of success.
I thought I would get it
But I have to confess
I tried all sorts of hobbies,
The Battledome and games,
When one day it hit me,
My gateway to fame.
The Neopian Times
Is the thing I would try.
I sharpened my pencils
And got my lucky die.
I sat at my desk,
With a feeling in my gut.
I had to write something,
But I didn't know what.
An idea popped in
From a place far away.
I started to write
'Til I don't know which day.
I hoped for a reply,
The sooner the better.
On Thursday it came,
My first rejection letter.
Successful Shop Secrets
I established my shop
On the 19th of May,
"This business looks easy!"
Was what I did say
I opened my shop
Thinking sales would never stop
I priced everything high
Hoping I'd be rich in the wink of an eye
For an Aisha plushie
26,000 for a
Peanut butter slushie
Eagerly I waited
Checking my till
Wondering why it said 0 Neopoints
On the sold items bill
I guess I thought I had it
The secret to a good shop
But people said it was a rip-off
And that had to stop
People aren't stupid
(With the exception of me)
Now my shop is buzzing
I'm busier than a bee
I'll tell you the secret
To never-ending business
Price everything at 1 Neopoint
And it sells with surprising quickness :)
Oh dear Snowflake,
We like you a lot,
We hope you realize
What a great job you have got,
So dear Snowflake, there is
Something I must tell:
ACCEPT MY SUBMISSIONS
OR EAT A SNAIL!
Constantly you have to put up,
With all the bad grammar
Like, "HAY DAWG, WUZ UP?"
And even though we know that
You probably start to despise,
You still read it with
Your poor, exhausted eyes.
Entry after entry, day after day,
You look through our entries
As the time wastes away,
And never a complaint, or one mean letter,
As you slowly, yet surely,
Put the Neopian Times together.
You cannot know,
How frustrated I get
When you reject my entries so,
But then when I had worked
To my utmost best,
You put it in the Times
Without a moment's rest.
Every day you have to put up with our faults,
The grammar, the spelling, our personalities...
It's enough to make anyone halt!
But each day you seem to pull through,
It would be hard to find a better
(Or more patient) editor than you!
Usul: A Sonnet
An Usul is a lovely thing to see.
Wrapped up so sweetly in their little bows.
Perhaps you'd like to ask one out to tea,
But whether they'd say yes, well goodness knows!
Their finicky and tempermental moods
Are enough to make their poor owner scream.
Watch out for their terrible attitudes
And groom them or they will become quite mean.
Their picky appetite cannot be cured
I still don't know my Usul's favorite food
I only hope she'll someday be matured
And will walk about in a better mood
Yet I will still love my Usul dearly
For she has stolen my heart, quite clearly
The Game Graveyard's Latest Victim
Be careful, gentle Neopets,
Be wary of this spot,
For evils of the deepest dark
Lurk here to scheme and plot
Brave fellows have passed
Through these gates:
Garon with his shaggy mane,
A Shoyru, life spent defending omelettes
(Was it all in vain?)
The Kau Korral is here to stay,
As well as Techo Says,
These games no more can Neopians play --
They fill our hearts with dread
Alpine Challenge, too;
Freaky Factory is gone,
And Earth Faerie Acres amiss,
But now, we mourn our latest loss:
Whack-A-Beast rests here in peace.
So RIP eternally,
We'll miss your horrid demeanor,
And please do not return to us,
Or we shall flee in terror!
