The Meridell Rubbish Dump

The smells were never pleasant
On Meri Acres Farm
But as you round the bend the smell hits you
Faster than you can throw up your arm

You decide to ignore the smell
And make the jump
Pinching your nose and holding your breath
You continue your journey
To the Meri Acres Dump

The sight is impressive,
Many farmers hanging around
You see Farmers Ted, Sid, Joe and Boggins
Throwing their refuse right onto the ground!

Squished tomatoes and mysterious seeds fly
Through the air to land with a plop
Into the growing pile of garbage, my, oh my!

The Dung Faerie drifts past as you hold your nose
Throwing a zeenana peel into the fray
Does she think that she smells like a rose?

Even old King Skarl gets in on the act
Throwing rotten fishbones without a care
I might get hit with a stray bone,
And that's a fact!

Rowdy peasants clamor around the stinky pile
While the Meridell castle cleaners scream
For those wanting to choose, form single file!

Somebody mysterious bumps your arm
As you join the line to approach the dump
And you wonder why
He is even on Meri Acres Farm?

You stand and wait, balancing on a little bump
The smell has gotten better
As people choose treasures
From the new and improved
Meridell Rubbish Dump!!

Discovery of Meridell

I wandered around Meri Acres Farm,
The mass of trees all swaying so calm.
A light breeze was whistling all around,
Making a quiet wispy sound.

I passed little heaps of tiny potatoes,
And huge green marrows in very long rows.
The farmers were toiling, wearing merry faces,
And flowers were scattered in various places.

I strolled around happily, humming a tune,
And then I sniffed a sickly perfume.
An old hunchbacked Kacheek limped over to me,
"Hello, young Neopian," she smiled toothily.

"Meridell is the best of all lands,
With pets that all have helping hands.
All the farmers are working well -
It is soon the Discovery of Meridell!"

A Turmac trotted up to the Kacheek shyly,
His head almost level with her wrinkly knee.
The Kacheek was short, and so very small,
And the Turmac was chubby and far too tall.

"If it wasn't for Lisha and Jeran, so bold,
Meridell Petpets would not be sold.
This whole land would never be discovered
And this poor Turmac would never be mothered."

I'll be the first to celebrate on this day,
I'll be the first to shout and say,
"Happy anniversary, great Meridell!
It is an honour that in this land I dwell!"

The Turmaculus

As you enter the land of Meridell,
You see something big, purple and green,
From where you're standing, you can't even tell,
It's only just a creature you never had seen.

So you take a step closer, trying to figure it out,
Then you ask yourself,
"What's the commotion about?"
Pets and Petpets are trying
To wake this creature up!
They're doing silly things without having any luck.

"Let me give it a shot," said a daring Kacheek,
He took out what appeared to be a tiny leek,
"Here, my Boween!" he said
As he gave him his pick,
"You can do this! Hit him with this stick!"

So the Boween tried as hard as he could,
Whacking it with a piece of wood,
"Wake up, Turmaculus! Do as I say!"
Then the crowd shouts, "We don't have all day!"

"Ha!" said a Vullard. "Let me give it a whirl!"
She took out what appeared to be pots and pans,
And made loud noises, giving her spoon a twirl,
Just like she was leading a marching band.

The Vullard failed, now's your chance!
So you make your Petpet tap dance,
Hey, he's awake! Congrats! You're a WINNER!
Whoops... the Turmaculus just made
Your Petpet his dinner.

Meridell's Tale

Hence commences a tale of old:
Now gather 'round so it may be told.

A trip to a museum
Led to a trip to the past--
An Aisha's brother Jeran
Whose skills can't be surpassed,
While playing a game,
To old Neopia was cast.

His sister Lisha
Grew up in the present.
She was with her friends
When to the museum she went.
A old picture of Jeran triggered her wand,
Back in time she and her friends were sent!

A prosperous land greeted their eyes.
King Skarl was the ruler of Meridell,
With Jeran, his best knight, by his side.
His whole kingdom was put under a spell
By an Orb he stole, with awesome power.
Now, over Meridell, a shadow fell.

Lord Darigan was back to reclaim his Orb.
His people were sick, crops turned to sand.
Darigan was angry, and wanted it back,
The Orb was the only way to heal his land.
So he attacked Meridell ferociously,
A huge army at his command.

Both sides fought well, with no fear.
But in the end, Darigan won.
Out of the Citadel, mutated pets poured.
The land of Meridell was overrun.
But Lord Darigan the Traitor claimed the Orb.
The true battle had just begun.

All of Neopia rose in arms,
Fighting against Lord Darigan in his deceit.
No longer did he fight for his people,
Only himself, and thus his fate was complete.
The battle waged on, and a brave Jetsam,
Brought about Lord Darigan's defeat.

Both sides had won, and now the Orb,
Was claimed by both sides.
The golden sphere flew up in the air,
And broke apart with a light from inside.
Meridell and Darigan together as friends,
Put their anger and mistrust aside.

Walk through Meri Acres Farm and see,
That today, Meridell is a happy place:
Illusen gives quests, the Turmaculus snores,
The Cheeserollers roll, and the Turdles race.
In each and every Neopian's heart,
Lovely Meridell will always have a space.
