The Day the Pound is Empty
By erikme

The day the Pound is empty,
Is the day we should rejoice,
Because no one has kept thee
Behind bars with no voice.

The day the Pound is empty,
Is the day Neopians show their face,
And all those who've disowned their pets
Are no longer in disgrace.

Because when the Pound is bare,
No pet will ever cry,
Everyone will have good care,
And the Neopets Team will never sigh.

Who now thinks this day will spring?
Few have such a trust.
But I stand tall and waiting,
For this day come, it must.

Ghost Draik
By aine_knapp

The cold, frothing potion
My young Lupe did drink
And the sudden pain expressed so fast
Would suggest he was on death's brink

Gray wings sprouted from his back
His tail grew spiky and long
And with his dreadful screams and yelps
I wondered if I had done wrong

His golden fur was replaced by scales
His eyes turned bloody red
And even though he's newly born
You could say he's good as dead

Pale and cold in coloration
He blends with the night
But if you do meet his gaze
Don't dare call it a fright

And even though he might be scary
He's really a very nice Draik
So if you meet him in the night
Don't be scared for goodness sake!

Plushie Paint Brush
By skkydancer7

My Neopet looks to the sky and sees a shining sta
His dreams are considerably large and fetched far.
Times before he has made the same wishes
His hopes remain he be made of stitches.

The newest paint brush is quite rare,
I don't have the Neopoints to spare.
Telling him this would make him sad,
But instead determination drove him mad.

I watched him march off to the room of games,
Earning great scores never earned him fame.
Into to the night he played and played,
He didn't return 'til the very next day.

I wasn't surprised when he didn't smile,
For he had played games for quite a while.
Knowing he still didn't have enough,
The next day he marched to the games in a huff.

Continuing this playing work for a long time,
What had overcome this Neopet of mine?
I knew he wanted to be painted plushie so bad,
Knowing it couldn't happen really made me sad.

But I was in for receiving a big surprise,
As my pet returned
with enough Neopoints for his prize.
The plushie paint brush was his to own,
On his face the pleasure shone.

Running swiftly to the Rainbow Pool,
To have him made of fabric and stuffed with wool.
The brushed dipped in the water with a splash,
Soon after there was a bright flash.

I hid my eyes from the bright light,
But then revealed them to show a wonderful sight.
Looking on I was amazed to see,
My little Neopet had become a plushie.

The Living Plush
By sirushi

I was wandering through the Bazaar,
Looking for slushies on sale,
When I caught a brief glimpse
Of something that looked like a tail.

I quickly trotted after it,
Thinking I recognized that friend,
Hurrying past the shops,
And rushing around a bend.

"Ah!" I cried,
As he finally came into sight
A Flotsam, a dear friend of mine
Although he didn't look... quite right.

I realized as I got closer,
That his eyes looked a little funny,
And didn't he used to be blue?
And why is his owner out of money?

She shook her head,
Empty pockets turned inside-out
And I realized what,
All of her fuss was about.

Eyes were replaced by buttons,
Flotsam skin replaced by cloth,
I watched as he dove out of the way,
Of an innocent passing moth.

"What did you do to him?"
I cried out in shock,
But the owner only smiled and said,
"It was either this or a Krawk."

I stared in horror,
At what had become of my chum,
And promptly turned tail
And ran until it became tiresome.

I collapsed by my own owner,
Once I had found her,
And gasped out my story,
My shocked heart all aflutter.

She only sighed,
And shook her head,
"Scary Plushie Paint Brushes,"
Was all that she said.

Meridell
By cococoffe

Lisha and her friends,
Playing a NeoQuest game,
Got into a mess,
Long ago there was another fight,
That was much the same.

Three bullies told the group,
They thought the game was dumb,
But Lisha said it wasn't,
And so a fight had begun.

A blue Lupe from long ago,
Was sent away to fight,
A group of evil characters,
That fought with all their might.

The outcome of each battle,
Was very much the same,
Lisha won, so did the Lupe,
Good conquered evil again.

The class visits a museum,
Lisha thinks the pictures are nice,
An older fellow shows her an old painting,
The subject is one Lisha might recognize.

A painting of a blue Lupe,
Dressed in armor at victory,
None other than Sir Borodere,
Lisha thinks mysteriously.

A flashback to the past,
During a hide and seek game,
Lisha can't find Jeran,
And ends up calling his name.

A little later Lisha,
Takes a journey with her friends,
To a place that she recalls,
Castle ruins meet them in the end.

Lisha's friends get bored,
She tells them this is serious,
Somehow they activate a portal,
They wonder, "Where does this take us?"

Now King Skarl summons,
A knight that he calls Jeran,
He must have some advice,
So he turns to him again.

Meanwhile Lisha and her friends,
Are in a castle hall,
Guarded carefully by guards,
Who force them to tell all.

The guards don't believe,
In a portal from the future,
So they were to be brought to the dungeon,
But they were attacked by evil creatures.

Guards were no match,
They could not beat,
The weird fiends,
And were almost at defeat.

Luckily for them,
Their prisoners had powers strong,
They used their things to attack,
They helped the guards along.

They said to all the heroes,
"We judged you all quite wrongly,
We will take you to our king,
Because we are so sorry."

The friends all met the king,
They had to explain,
How they got into the castle,
For the second time, again.

King Skarl granted their freedom,
Then he turned to Jeran,
"Do you believe that tale?"
He said, "Yes, I do believe them."

Long ago Jeran,
Was playing hide and seek,
He found himself in a castle,
And was a little scared and meek.

Skarl says those things that attacked,
I might know why they are here,
Long ago Meridell did not prosper,
Until we met an old wise seer.

She told us of an orb,
To make our land amazing,
Soon we had no famine,
And great spots for grazing.

Those fiends you saw today,
They must all be,
After my special orb,
Why does this always happen to me?

But Skarl had lied,
He stole the orb,
He got what he deserved,
There were strange attacks, and a war!

So what side will you chose,
Will it be the ugly victims,
Or will it be the mean old thieves,
Are you with Meridell or against them?
