Forgotten Story

If there was a song about 2002
Then there are my memories of 2003
When internet was slow and it was new
I sign up and discovered you

I drift through pages like a newbie 
No game guides but I explored you
Neopoints and Paint Brushes I try to win
And a Fountain Fairy Quest was a dream

It was 2014 and I may have forgotten
But I found my username and got reunited
A promise to never miss out Advent Calendar
I found my pets still in pounds and then adopted

I continue to play Destruct O Matches
Thanks to Key Quest I found my riches
Sadly it quickly ended when server changes
But Auctions and Trades got me to places

Hatched a Draik, morphed a Krawk and zap a Lutari
I found the time the Magma guard sleeping
And then my neopets start burning
But alas Fountain Fairy is still missing

Another end came and promises broken
Password is yet again forgotten
2020 came with a pandemic and memories awoken
My neopets I have to visit again

Fairy employment I continue to take
And Flash Player is about to end
But a delightful gift I receive
When a Fountain Fairy Quest arrived in

What do you call a place you can always return 
When you thought you've forgotten again
Neopets remind you of a home to return
A capsule of memories through Log In

The Joy of Stamps

Such a marvellous thing to collect
Take a look at your album, where they are kept
Is that apathy that I detect?

They are too expensive to collect, you suspect?
Well, you may be correct
To collect them all, one would soon gain respect
Though their finances would also be wrecked

But look at the situation and let us inspect
To say you must buy them all would be incorrect
Just put a few in your album and refect
And soon enough your feelings will redirect

Double or Nothing

“I dare you”, he leers,
grin taunting and toothy;
hair slicked back,
expression eerily goofy

Silver flashes deftly
between each digit
He stares you down,
you uncomfortably fidget

“I shouldn’t have come”
“I should definitely go”
Your thoughts are correct,
but do you heed them? No.

Slippery Snargan is always down for a bargain,
and ripping off Neopets? He finds no harm in!

Defying good judgement
you slide him ten
The coin lands on tails!
You say, “again”

You pay him once more,
the coin tumbles through air –
tails? AGAIN?
That’s hardly fair!

His twisted smile looks awfully malicious,
and by now you have grown extremely suspicious.

“Go again”, you say,
it takes flight once more,
but this time you knock it
onto the floor!

You snatch it up quickly…
the coin is a SHAM!
One side is lighter,
he’s running a scam.

Your eyes meet his:
he knows that you know!
But he bares his pointy teeth,
so you cut your losses and go.

Snargan watches you leave,
his face smugly grinning
Double or nothing is great
when you’re always winning!

The Wheel of Brightvale

As good as any college,
Is Brightvale's wheel of knowledge.
Designed to enlighten and educate,
The wheel causes neopians to contemplate.

Known for its beautiful stain glass,
The wheel attracts curious scholars en masse.
At merely 400np a spin,
Landing on any of the spaces is a win.

Of particular note is receiving King’s Hagan’s Advice -
His royal wisdom is well worth the price.
So if ever roaming Brightvale and in the mood to amble,
Swing by the Wheel of Knowledge and chance a gamble.

Happy Brightvale Day to all the dedicated scholars!
May the gaps within your knowledge base grow smaller.
Since this land inspires a passion for learning,
May the Wheel of Knowledge forever keep turning.

I judge poems
And I collect
Them in my tomes

But sometimes I
Would like to write
Something myself
By candlelight

I start to think
And grab my quill
But then, oh no
It goes downhill

I spill my ink
There is a puddle
And even worse
My thoughts are muddled

What should I do?
I'm at a loss
No one will want
To read this dross

But then I said
No Alstaf, you
Will want to read
And others too!

Which is all fine
And also dandy
But now I really
Want some candy

Because guess what?
I changed my mind
This poem is
The worst of its kind

But I don't care
I'll still show you
My own attempt
For this issue

So here it is
My very own try
This is awful
I'm gonna cry

The Carnival Comes to Town

The sky above
was the shades of a rose
when strange figures rode in
on horseback.

They found a clearing
among lush woodland
and pitched their bright tents.
Flags snapped in the breeze.

Like smears of paint
on a blank canvas,
among green
stood great flashes of colour.

The people of Meridell
awoke to see the visitors
with glittering coin
and bonfires burning.

They flocked to the hillside,
as flutes played, and bells chimed.
Excitement was in the air.
The carnival had come to town.

The Haunted Butler of the Haunted Woods

Deep in the Haunted Woods is a house
Said to be happy, certainly not haunted.
But on the contrary, its only visitors
Are adventurers and heroes undaunted.

Enter its halls, but try not to get lost,
Because a frightening Lenny is your host.
He doesn't greet you or take your hat,
He's here to scare you, a ghost!

With his ghost and hunter friends 
He guards the Happy Fun Non-Haunted House
From anyone brave (or foolish) enough
To go inside and have a browse.

He is the Haunted Butler, 
A frightful waiter at your banquet,
With piercing eyes and a grim frown,
He won't let you leave just yet.

He wields his tray like a weapon,
His table napkin like a whip,
And with his wings and fleet feet
It's hard to give him the slip!

This ghost Lenny will serve you
A heaping platter full of pain,
And for dessert, a gruelling battle
With a side of cruel disdain!

And should you succeed in eluding him
Don't revel in your victory just yet.
Because the true fight is not over,
The Haunted Butler's not the only threat!

Stock Market Blues

You ponder all the shares,
“Which is the right one for me?
There’s Stuff-a-pet incorporated 
Or even one called Yippee!”
The rules seem rather complicated
And a lot of guesswork too.
Only buy at 15np
And try not to sell too soon.
The stock market’s a long game
And it’s hard to hold your nerve.
But keep an eye and don’t forget
To keep to your resolve.
You invest and then you wait
And then you wait some more!
The initial cost may feel quite high,
Especially when you're poor.
But suddenly you see your share
Start to rise and rise.
100%? 200?%
What a great surprise!
You’ve made a profit! Congrats again
But now you to choose.
To reinvest or walk away? 
Will you win or lose?

To Feed A Kad or Give a Bag?

Do I feed a friend at Kadoatery
Or donate a coin to the Money Tree?
The pets are sad, they miss their friends;
But the poor among us might need a lend.
Maybe they need to combine the two,
and place Kadoaties in the loot,
Since there is extra space among the coins,
Abandoned Kadoaties can find new homes
Donations can feed any stray pets
But donated coins must feed the Kats
And they in turn will give bags full
Back to home, and all is well
Thus two problems are now one
And a good day of giving has begun.
