Recall in your minds the Charity Corner
Alone in the pound, I was quite a mourner
Of an owner I knew for only a week
Who abandoned me promptly before I could speak

When I asked for pie Neopians hurried
With treats in paw they often scurried
Along with some cards they wrote for me, too
‘Cause they heard of my story and knew I’d be blue

Before I knew it, my pound home was filled
Of gifts and surprises, to that I was thrilled!
But even in joy I felt my heart sink
They all walked away, I just had to think

What if the one they wanted was me?
I looked at each owner and in silence I plead
Give me the wings that I might be free
Please oh please, just let it be me

A week then went past, a month, then a year
It confirmed all my doubts, my sadness, and fear
Nobody wants me, that much seemed clear
I resigned myself gently to a life only here

Another day passed and I sighed at the time
Of the days without love in what should be my prime
As I readied myself for a time without dreams 
I spied in the corner an owner, it seems

Who exclaimed with haste that I was the one
The Vanda they wanted, alternatives none
They remembered my plight of the years long ago
And in paw they carried a pie slice in tow

“I’m sorry you waited for many a year,”
They said to me as they drew ever near,
“It’s never too late to give you a home,
A place to find comfort, no more will you roam.”

With caution I nodded, afraid that they too
Would pick up and leave when their patience was through
But the owner, so gently, whispered in my ear
“You’re home with me now and have nothing to fear.”

To the Vandagyres waiting for their future nest
Hold fast to your hope, continue to quest
Because just like me, you’ll find your home too
Hold onto your pie, you’ll also pull through

Between the lush plains of windswept lavender
Resides a forest home for concealed avians.
The jacarandas camouflage the Vandagyres
As they dart between the eves, purple leaves
Falling and shuffling in the mauve atmosphere.

This is how the elusive Vandagyres remained
Undiscovered for so long; and in their right,
They blended into the lilac colours of foliage,
Their plumage mistook for the purple light
Of petals from the orchids and the pansies.
