Flotsam Day Special
Akin to waves in the sea
The flotsam glides
Just like second skin
She goes with the tide
There’s celebrations on land
She’d rather be at sea
What’s better than
Frolicking with glee?
Deep amongst the corals
Or swimming with the fish
All to her heart’s wish!
As the day dwindles
And the golden sun sets
She idles by the shore
Not an ounce of regret
Liandra, Flotsam Hero
Never a challenge for fair Liandra
Were the roiling seas and storm-tossed waves.
Neopia's waters she knew better than her name,
But for lost petpets, those waves seemed graves.
Beneath the surface, she hardly noticed the
Flashes of lightning and claps of airy thunder,
Though as she darted through caverns and ruins,
Stuffing her bag with the latest plunder,
The storm swept up Mirgle and Weewoo and Swabby,
Casting them from the shelter of their dock
Into the wide-open ocean, where the poor things
Found themselves entirely overcome with shock.
Only with a chance glance did Liandra see
Three thin lines of petpet-sized bubbles.
In an instant, she cast away her treasures,
And raced toward them, straining her muscles.
The raging sea conspired to keep them apart,
Would-be hero and poor petpets nearly lost,
But Liandra had set herself already to the task,
And by no waves would allow herself tossed.
She gathered them up in her treasure satchel
And raced, breakneck speed, back to shore.
After seeing the petpets safely back home,
Liandra found accolades for her in store.
But she brushed them off and slipped,
Once again, beneath the storm-tossed waves,
Because fair Liandra desired praise
Far less than getting back to her caves.
Captain Plesio and the Wheel
"Are you excited? Yeah, you probably shouldn't be."
Yawns Plesio as he guards, the Wheel of Mediocrity.
Round and round it goes, the visitors straggling,
Mostly because the wheel's prizes are trifling.
The wheel isn't exciting, full of knowledge, or wealth,
It actually could even put your pets in ill health.
So why does Plesio spend time in front of the wheel,
When he could be living a life full of zeal?
It's likely his choice to sit there in boredom,
Could be explained by his previous past with wardom.
When the Monoceraptor attacked in the Tyrannian Invasion,
Plesio fought as a captain, rose to the occasion.
After he and his troops were defeated,
Perhaps now the Flotsam retreated.
Nothing better to do and no longer dreaming,
Although there's rumor there's one thing he's scheming.
Those who still go by the wheel may have heard,
He's been to the council to get in a word.
Through all his boredom and lack of spark,
Plesio hopes to someday swim in a water park.
If his persuasion succeeds, he'll be no longer marooned.
Neopians, watch out for the new attraction, stay tuned!
Because Plesio isn't actually sitting there bored,
He's saving his excitement and looking forward!
Filo Desenz: The Untold Story
Filo Desenz may no longer be, a name that rings a bell,
After leaving team Maraqua, my popularity surely fell.
On the Yooyuball field, fans used to cheer my name,
With my determination and skill, I was a favourite in the famous game.
It’s rather sad to say, thirteen years have passed and gone,
Those days are over, perhaps to a new career, I should move on.
It’s not always fair; I had to leave while Elon Hughlis could stay,
Even if it was true, being on the same team, caused us both dismay.
I’m not saying I was a better player, just that we both deserved to play,
Team Maraqua was never the same, after I bid farewell and was sent away.
With this change, came a fresh roster member, a brand new face,
She was a novice, but also selfless and passing was her saving grace.
Quick to learn and easy to love, she stood out among fellow nominees,
Dorina Hals was her name, and she won over the crowds with ease.
Unfortunately, her stay was also short-lived, for as you know,
Lamelle Turow replaced her, about nine years ago.
Now as another year of Altador Cup has come to an end,
I figured it’s time to lay the past to rest, there’s no need to pretend.
I’ve had my moments of glory and fame, my days in the limelight,
It’s time to retire, hang up my gear, and cheer as a fan with all my might.
Lor Benneveldt the Flotsam flopped with glee,
Back to the docks with his team,
Nothing on the horizon but an open sea,
From tenth to sixth it was a dream.
Four years ago the last victory,
Three years ago a significant fall,
The sixteenth Altador Cup will surely make history,
Back to the podium in an all-out brawl.
From Altador to Virtupets every team should fear,
A Kitchen Quest boost to Benneveldt's agility,
For Mystery Island's glory is once again near,
No one will question Lor's goalkeeping ability.
A 'flotsam' of teams left in their path,
Washing up after every match,
All will witness this Flotsam's wrath,
Every Yooyu he will catch.
The Plight of the Underwater Chef
Oh, how I yearn for the Maraquan deep
And a time when I could get some sleep
Years ago, before the underwater destruction
When I was free from constant food production
Perhaps I have only myself to blame
I dreamt of being a chef -- the glory, the fame
But this Flotsam swam too close to the sun
And my own success is how I was undone
I used to serve the King and his guests
Once or twice a day and at annual fests
I never thought I’d wish to be out of a job,
But compared to the threat of becoming a kebab…
And yet, that is the fate that awaits
If ever I fail at even a single plate
That Mumbo Pango’s appetite is unceasing --
In fact, some days I wonder if it isn’t increasing!
I sweat over the stove all day and night,
Spurred on by the constant threat of spite
And helped only by the occasional contribution
Of some kind passerby, but it’s no real solution
Daily I ask myself when my servitude will end
But I know not how many more years I will spend
At the mercy of that wretched nincompoop,
But mark my words, I will not become Flotsam Fin Soup!
Living alone by the ocean can be so beautiful
The vast immensity of nothing ahead
Wake up to the sound waves and you'll be grateful
Kreludor at night shining over your bed
The sunset sets and the sailors leave
You'll remain at the port of Maraqua's Bottom
Something comes ashore, you don't believe
There on the white sand lays a lost Flotsam
Help the hurt, heal the wounds
There was a Flotsam laying on the sand
Now there's a friendship bound
To forever give you a helping hand
Living alone by the ocean was be so beautiful
But now your Flotsam friend made it meaningful
A Feast for Flotsams
It’s Flotsam Day- save the date!
And don’t forget to bring a plate
For the annual Flotsam Feast-
A banquet that is quite the treat.
Flotsams gather from far and wide
And bring a flotsam-themed dish to provide
All their fellow Flotsams with delicious delight
As they converse, party, and snack throughout the night.
The tasty feast begins with Seaweed Rice Crackers
With four flavours options, they’re a lip smacker!
Yummy Flotsam Flakes tend to please the crowd;
Luckily there’s enough to go around!
Ah, but dinner has only begun!
The main dish is truly the most fun:
A Seaweed Flotsam Burger with fresh brioche buns
And Flotsam Fin Soup that’s hotter than the sun.
With bellies almost full, Flotsams eagerly await
For a plethora of desserts they know will be great
Faerie Flotsam Pudding and a Flotsam Sundae
Are the perfect end to this delectably fun day.
So, this Flotsam Day, if your Flotsam disappears
Have no worries; they’re celebrating with their peers
Dining in the middle of the sea
Munching, conversing, and full of glee.
A slippery climb, and then a splash!
They can't be beat, pets without feet!
The swiftest swim, underwater dash.
Bubbles floating, clouds of sea.
A flick of fin, and whoosh, they win!
A check to neopedia, wait!
No flotsams of fame, what is this game?
It's hard to pick when all are great.
A peek in almost every store-
I'm no joker, it's mediocre!
Besides this wheel I want much more.
Not much for sport, but the Altador Cup!
Maraqua's big step, Mystery Island's rep,
Now things are looking on the up.
Can't say I'm rich, I've never seen,
They say in Kelp there's no kitchen help!
Truly a master of cuisine.
Beautiful elegant Maraqua is shown,
Yet I'm forced to wonder, torn asunder!
How much of their sea home is unknown?
Surely, now you understand the craze!
Believe it, flotsam are totally awesome.
Our happy, merry flotsam days.
A Swim on Flotsam Day
The water shimmers a lovely blue,
For all Maraquans to behold and view
Past where the Sea Ferns grow,
The Flotsam dives deep below
The other Neopets watch from the shore,
We hold our breath, ready for more
She giggles and waves her fin,
“The water is great, jump right in!”
Though we lack her fins and gills,
We still enjoy the water’s thrills
We splash in the blue, give her chase
But try as we may, she wins each race
With every dive, I hope to gain speed,
Only to tangle in a thicket of weeds
The Flotsam teases to swim faster,
But the water is hers alone to master
Sea foam crashes against the sand,
I collapse on shore, grateful for land
On the horizon, I spot her fin
Her flippers give a stunning spin
I laugh at the sight, in pure daze
Her dives will always amaze
To the crowd, I can’t help but say:
“Have a spectacular Flotsam day!”
