Koi Day Special

Koi Day: Unending Blue
by alien_ation

Buffeted by currents
From shore to distant shore
Will I keep on searching
For joy forevermore

From Brightvale to Maraqua
I swim and do not know
Where I should be ending up
Or which way I should go

Perhaps it is the journey
Not a place I should pursue
With joy each day I’ll face each wave
In this unending blue

King Kelpbeard, Ruler of Maraqua
by steve_km

Known as the Koi King,
Maraqua is the name of the great kingdom he rules.
To him his subjects cling,
For his kingdom is lavished and covered in jewels.

However, it was not always this way,
There was once a past city that was destroyed.
A gang threatened him for protection money and asked him to pay,
But due to a poor harvest their fields were completely void.

The gang destroyed Old Maraqua they did,
And the king and his people were refugees for some time.
The survivors followed him, in shelters they hid,
It was uncertain if they would recover from the crime.

While on the run they fought pirates of the seas,
And the king led them to battle against these plunderers.
For weeks they fought and it wasn’t a breeze,
Soon they would win and defeat those blunderers.

A gift they would find,
A new home would it be.
New Maraqua a place for some peace of mind,
A new home under the sea.

The Maraqua Koi Goalkeeper
by stmarshall

Tonie Plessix flexes his fin,
This year he is going for the win.
The glory of the Altador Cup will be his,
This time for sure he will not miss.

He’s been training day and night,
His goals never far from sight,
Bulking up his muscular frame,
Getting ready for the big game,

The Koi may not be the most agile,
But you know for sure he’s not fragile.
Blocking shots with one swish of his tail,
He vows this time he will not fail.

Plessix cheers on his teammates too,
The best of the best are in the Maraquan crew.
Together they will achieve victory,
Just wait ‘til next month and you will see.

The Koi at kelp
by precious_katuch14

There once was a Koi with an exquisite palate,
He made a reservation at kelp and was almost late.
But he got there just in time,
Dressed up in a suit so fine,
And he did not have long to wait.

The Koi was immediately shown to his seat,
Shown a menu of appetizers, desserts and meat.
"Good day, welcome to kelp, sir,
"Pray tell, what can we do you for?
"Our fusion cuisine simply can't be beat!"

The Koi said, "I'll start with Angel Hair Salad,
"About its noodles I could write a whole ballad!
"Bring me Funnydew Melon Delight,
"And maybe a course that is light,
"What about your Fish Special?" he added.

The Koi was not done and ordered dessert as well.
"I'll have your Peachpa and Stramberry Shell.
"Oh, and a slice of Coral Cake,
"Octopi Souffle freshly baked,
"And a side of your Triple Chocolate Shell!"

The waiter kept pace with the Koi's demands.
"I would also like to try your Rambus Blend.
"But alas, I cannot choose
"Between that and Foozette Juice,
"So send me both!" That was the Koi's command.

The Koi's lunch was ready and promptly served.
A massive feast for one seemingly reserved!
He picked up his knife and fork,
And immediately got to work
Demolishing the feast he believed he deserved.

He cleaned all his plates and his lunch was done.
All the food he put away must have been a ton!
But then came his bill,
And he asked, "Is this real?"
The Koi looked around and prepared to run!

There once was a Koi with an exquisite palate,
He made a reservation at kelp and was almost late.
But his money wasn't enough
To pay for all the foodstuff
So washing all the kelp dishes became his fate!

The Thoughtful Koi
by prettyobscure

Deeper than the average Neopian,
In more ways than one,
The Koi floats to the surface,
For a peek at the sun.

Swimming back down,
To the Maraquan floor,
A whole world unknown,
He wants to know more.

What is it like to walk on two feet?
And to go even farther: to the Kreludan moon?
What is it like to breathe on the land?
And to sunbathe on Krawk Island's sandy dune?

Suddenly aware of the coral before him,
And the neon colours of the electric eels,
The pounding sound of the ocean around him,
The koi is caught in his feels!

To exist so far down in a watery world,
Is a very special gift indeed,
Kois are one of the few who can experience it,
Lovely creatures on this day it is decreed:

It's Koi Day!

The Mystical, Magical Koi Plush
by _brainchild_

Oh, this is a cute Koi plush!
It's one I have to get.
Over to the shelves I rush
To pick up my posh pet!

I play with it. It's super sweet
Until something quite weird
Occurs, because my pair of feet
Begins to disappear!

My colour changes. Fins I grow.
Quite terrified I feel.
What I am, I do not know—
This morph can't be for real!

"You just used a magic plush."
The Shopkeeper tells me.
"Neopets are sure to gush!
You look so cute and sweet!”

I guess I can get used to this.
My friends are most impressed.
Hey! I'm totally convinced
That this was for the best!

As a Koi I'll spend my days—
It's cool that I can swim.
This morph has left me most unfazed.
I wave my shiny fins.

Koi Pond
by l0000000l

Beneath the continuous ripples,
A school of Koi swims about.
Beams of light transcend the waves,
And the Koi glisten without a doubt.

Highly esteemed aquatic creatures,
Folks gather around to catch a glimpse.
More renowned than the Fanciful Fauna,
A pond advertised even on blimps.

Stunning fins and a shimmering tail,
On full display they are a magical sight.
Tricks and flips are on par in caliber,
Throughout the pond they seem to take flight.

Native to the depths of Maraqua,
Beings that are otherwise hard to see.
On this day only will they venture out,
At the Koi Pond they swim free.

The Starry Koi
by miraday

The night was uneventful— calming typicality.
The brook babbled through the meadow as before.
A lone blue Koi travelled through the still ponds,
Aided by the moonlight shining off the mossy floor.

The cattails swayed as the Koi peaked above:
The surface world was just beyond the water line,
But it seemed so far away. Past the foreign land,
The night sky was more bountiful and unconfined.

Just then— a shooting star gave its final goodbye.
The young Koi clasped his fins to make a wish:
“I hope one day to be as free as the stars,”
He asked wistfully, hoping he hadn’t missed.

He continued to watch— don’t shooting stars tend
To burn up on their descent? This one came nearer,
An icy comet headed his way. The comet skipped
Over the ponds and sank into its pebbled mirror.

The Koi scooped up the fallen pierce, brilliantly blue
And cool to the touch. Suddenly, he became starry—
Gold marks decorated his previously blue self,
His whiskers specked with the stars’ majesty.

His wish seemed granted— he leapt from the pond
And ascended into the cosmos without trepidation.
The Koi had wished for freedom just like the stars,
And now all of Neopia see his constellation.

Song of the Butterfly Koi
by dewdropzz

I once knew a Koi who had butterfly wings
Who dreamed of innumerable wonderful things
In dreams she would leave the vast world of the seas
And take to the sky, her wings caught on the breeze

And how happy she’d be!

In flight the Koi felt truly free
In the night, the joy, the ecstasy
The wind in her fins as she skimmed
past the tops of the trees

How alive was she!

But things aren’t always what they seem
Alas, the Koi could only fly in dreams
Her wings were mere fins,
for as much as she schemed and made believe

The butterfly Koi was still a Koi indeed

Karpoh the Treasure Hunter
by catchinglights

Deep in old Maraqua's sunken ruins,
A great secret treasure does lurk.
But it takes a brave and daring soul,
To find what is hidden in the murk.

The abandoned kingdom holds many secrets,
That's why the pirate crew does employ,
The small and agile yet daring orphan:
None other than Karpoh the Koi.

Karpoh's life has not been great,
Tragedy hit him young.
But this Koi is strong and determined,
To hope and joy he has clung.

And so he goes diving deep,
Into Maraqua's farthest reaches,
To impress the pirates he works for,
While they bask up on the beaches.

Karpoh has a unique talent,
For manipulating air bubbles.
He can pop or even push them,
To get him out of troubles.

And deep down in ancient Maraqua,
Those troubles are aplenty,
Greedy Jetsams, vicious Slug Monsters,
And even stinging Ghoti.

Karpoh bravely pushes on,
In old Maraqua he does survive,
One day he'll recover plenty of treasure,
But until then he continues to dive.
