Scorchio Day Special

Scorchio's New Home
by laniidae

Sam had lived a long time in the pound,
as no home for him had ever been found.
His wings drooped sadly as each day passed,
and his dull eyes looked forlornly out at the grass.

Most families that came, they just passed him by,
because, for a Scorchio, he was quite shy.
He'd cower and hide when others appeared,
when they talked about him, he'd cover his ears.

But one day a family did come for Sam,
and they brought him home, that was their plan.
To give this poor neopet a family and friends,
so he wouldn't be stuck here in these pens.

He was excited, but nervous,
and was cautious to do them no disservice.
Sam didn't make a peep on the whole ride home,
and sat quietly down and didn't dare roam.

"Would you like a Neocola?" his new father asked,
and Sam couldn't hold in his joy, he'd taste it at last!
He popped open the can with a quick motion,
and drank down the delicious potion.

But then Sam's Scorchio tummy rumbled a perilous roar,
and his jaws opened wide like a big trap door,
and out came a bellow, so carbonated and loud,
that it shot a plume of fire four feet around!

Poor Sam fell backwards, knocking over his chair,
and the curtains went up in a terrible flare!
But Sam's father didn't worry, not even a wink,
and the fire went out in a singular blink!

The Techo laughed and smiled at his son,
and helped him get up before he could run,
"Don't worry," he said, "it wasn't a bother!"
"Thank Fyora I was made out of water!"

The Scourge of Sakhmet (Scorchio Day)
by hottakes

If ever in the gold of day
a shadow falls, all turns to grey,
a sudden fear seizes your heart,
and overhead all breaks apart:

Then it is he of many eyes,
who darkens sun and deafens cries,
returned to do the job at last -
relight the fires of years long past.

For Sakhmet is his idle kindle;
buildings blaze as all hope dwindles.
Carried aloft on winds above,
he revels to the task he loves.

It's Jazan's friend, with winding heads,
gnarled claws, evoking dread,
withered wings that eclipse the sun,
here to ensure the job is done.

It is Scordrax, soaring up high,
reigning fury and fire from the sky.
The Scourge of Sakhmet - fear this name,
for on his breath come scorching flames.

So if ever on a golden day
a shadow falls, all turns to grey,
then hide or run, cower or dash:
as Scordrax turns Sakhmet to ash.

Scorchio Day - Detective Felkor
by kiwigoddesskimmie

Hello! Detective Felkor is my name
And my job was checking each game
At the (formerly) deserted fairground
And boy, was there mischief to be found

I found at the game called Test Your Strength
A weight on a hidden rope of minimal length
The bagatelle board had a magnetic strip
In a path to the one and magnetic chip

Instantly wary of the coconut shy host
I noticed extra nails in each coconut post
Weighted targets at the corkgun stall
Mean your aim really doesn't matter at all

Challenging carnival games are the norm
But the Deserted Fairground needed reform
I compiled my data to be officially reported
But my efforts and I were suddenly thwarted

I've tackled cases in various neighbourhoods
But investigation isn't welcome in those woods
The questions remain, what, why, how?
Where IS that Detective Felkor right now?

Scorchio Day Celebration
by puppycore

The desert sun slinks like a thief in the night,
Stealthily, furtively, and burning for miles,
On leathery wings a Scorchio takes flight,
Swooping past scarabs, hot sand, and shadowed sun dials.

With whistles of wind straining against his squinting eyes,
And bellows of flame spewing from his maw,
He makes haste and zips through the glow of sunrise,
And carries a sign in his trusty right paw.

When he finally arrives in Neopia, he sees,
So many pets of all kinds have already arrived
There is joy in the air with the scent of cake in the breeze,
And surely of fun he will not be deprived.

To the grove with no undergrowth - a parting of trees,
He saunters right up in a jovial manner,
For the perfect placement is what he sees,
And with great pride, he hangs up his banner.

"Happy Scorchio Day!" it reads in bright paint,
The other pets cheer as he hoists up his chin,
Beaming with such warmth that he feels he could faint,
But careful not to before the festivities begin!

An entire day dedicated just to his kind,
A fun-filled afternoon packed with dance and play,
With the desert heat behind him he can finally unwind,
And have himself a happy Scorchio Day!

Scorchios are special
by orlytheowl

Today we celebrate a fiery pet
They might look scary, but they're not a threat
They're not fluffy, but friendly still
They like it hot, but they're also chill

Scorchios are who we salute today
You may know the one that fires the Lab Ray?
He looks mad, and that's what he is
He does good and bad, and he sometimes miss

Samuel is another heroic pet
The most heroic Scorchios that petpets have ever met
He rescued them from a jewel mine
That was the moment you could really see him shine

Scorchios are Neopets that you should be beware
They can be awesome, heroic, crazy and fair
They can breath fire, and even fly
To not love Scorchios, there's really no reason why

Rainbow Scorchio
by miraday

A week of rain: brief pauses that resume
To break the monotonously grey skyline
For a moment, before it returns to gloom.
It’s almost hard to remember the sunshine.

I was always told that to weather storms,
You have to think, will the rain through
Rather than sadly wallow in the short term.
Imagine a rainbow waiting, in all its hues—

If you squint hard enough, past the foothills
You can see the clouds parting themselves.
The scene is motionless, nothing moves until—
A Rainbow Scorchio appears as if compelled.

He flies down, erratic at first, then serenely
To the meadows puttering in their watery green;
As he hovers, the shrubbery starts flowering
And blossoms pop up, worried to go unseen.

The Scorchio snickers to himself, then claps
His claws together like thunder reverberating.
The clouds wobble then seem to collapse
As a baby blue sky stretches out triumphantly.

In daylight, one sees the millions of colors
On the Scorchio’s wings reflect their light
Onto the hills like spring jumps to summer
Brilliantly, even if just for this single sight.

The Scorchio can sense he’s been seen.
He extends his wings and with full grace
Flies to the next town where it’s raining;
Leaving us a double rainbow in full embrace.

Brian the Scorchio
by l0000000l

You all may know me as a cheat,
And to an extent that may be true,
But I promise I am actually sweet,
I'm just a Scorchio gone slightly askew.

You see, we Scorchios love the heat,
And this volcanic energy charges me right up,
So much so that I cannot stand defeat,
Not even the proximity of being runner-up.

Please do not misunderstand me,
For I take no joy in actual deception,
Even fibbing makes me want to go and flee,
Gormball, however, is the only exception.

After my tragic and initial disqualification,
I came back with integrity and a vengeance,
To prove Neopia wrong, yes, the entire nation,
I made sure Y5 & Y20 were brimmed with tension.

As far as these annual competitions go,
I have proven not once, but twice now,
That Scorchios can retain control and glow,
We are friendly creatures - that I can avow.

The Scorchio's Treasure Hunt
by platinum_marauder

He awoke one day with a desire to be rich,
Bundles of treasure he decided to fetch,
And so he traveled searching for gold,
Over the dark blue seas he flew,
Nearer and nearer to his target he drew,
The land of Tyrannia, a land of old.

Of the jungle he paid no heed,
Up north he planned to satisfy his greed,
Where he could see volcanoes in the distance,
After setting off he heard a roar,
He knows up north the monsters soar,
He concluded this trip wasn't worth persistence.

Still he chose not to give up,
Different locations he had as backup,
And he headed for a land of sand and heat,
The long flight had made him tired,
Still from his quest he hadn't retired,
For colored jewels he believed too sweet.

He searched throughout the desert,
Of potential treasure he was alert,
Looking for the tombs of ancient kings,
Though try and try he did,
From him it seemed the treasure hid,
And he took to the sky once again on his wings.

He headed now for his last location,
A land considered a boiling hot nation,
Beneath the surface of Neopia it stood,
Down into the depths he fell,
Here he hoped some treasure would dwell,
Or give up on his quest he would.

Through the busy city he sped,
Far and wide obsidian was spread,
Though he sought something of higher worth,
In a pool of magma a creature he saw,
With shining eyes and a red paw,
Out it crawled before him onto the earth.

Before him the creature stood,
And immediately he understood,
The Magmut wanted to be friends,
He smiled and forgot his quest,
Having such a friend, this treasure was best,
And so happily the Scorchio's story ends!

Scorchio Sugar Skull: Haunting and Spectacular
by _brainchild_

The sugar skull of Scorchios
Is very tasty, I suppose,
Yet beauty so atemporal
Assures its looks are never dull.

Its spikes bear vibrant crimson hues.
So captivating, they amuse.
The colors of the shining sun
Are also there to bring more fun.

The vines that make emotions race
Look very gorgeous on this face.
The leaves ever so delicate
Shall best all others as of yet.

The teeth so brightly hued, unique,
Look quite amazing, never bleak.
The onlookers are so enthralled
By turquoise dye, which pleases all.

If you have sought a centerpiece
That's stunning, one to never cease
To leave all of your pals impressed,
You need this skull, since it's the best.

The Scorchio Scientist's Secret
by catchinglights

They said he was crazy, they said he was a loon,
But all of Neopia will see his results soon!
Hidden somewhere only a map can find,
Is the product of the Scorchio's strange mind.
His shock white hair is messy and wild,
The Scorchio would rather focus on his brainchild.
A secret ray that will confound and amaze,
Neopians will line up to visit it for days!
After his finishing touches, he clapped in glee,
However, who else was to test it but he?
The Scorchio scientist stood before his ray,
And only slightly did his resolve sway.
No! He would hold true and prove them wrong,
With his ray, he would become extra strong!
With a mighty zap and a puff of smoke,
...Nothing happened. Was this some hoax?
He felt nothing and had no changes to be seen,
Oh but wait, he was now yellow instead of green!
That was fine, that was fine, no cause for alarm,
Just as long as the ray did no harm.
The Scorchio set about to drawing up maps,
To attract some new test subjects, perhaps.
And if you go to visit the Secret Lab Ray,
Be sure to wish the scientist a Happy Scorchio Day!
