Korbat Day Special!
An Ode to Korbats
Swift into the night it flies
Through dark and looming skies
Faster than the eye can see
Quiet as it can be
Stealthy it flits through the night
Giving others a fright
But they’re just Korbats you know
Not enemies nor foes
These mysterious creatures
May have fright’ning features
Teeth and claws and tails and wings
But no harm does it bring
Soaring through the nighttime air
More a dream than nightmare
A wondrous sight to behold
Their flight oh so controlled
If you see a Korbat today
Wish them well and tell them, “Oh hey!”
Happy Korbat Day to all
I hope you all have a ball
Somewhere hidden deep,
Inside Haunted Woods,
Is a special keep,
Of forbidden goods.
Known as Korbat's Lab,
Closed to outsiders,
Its walls merely drab,
And full of Spyders.
It's where Sloth creates,
His Transmog Potions,
Which cause dreadful fates,
For pets' emotions.
Infiltrate the lab,
Destroy its supplies,
And make sure to grab,
Any cool surprise.
The Korbat Colony
In the towns, they are boarding up the homes
Long abandoned, then reclaimed as refuges
By the Korbats. Cracked windows, broken doors
Are concealed with boards: suburban subterfuge.
Their safe haven gone, the Korbats take flight
In search of sanctuary guided by moonrise.
It is easy to blame for their displacement:
Their inverted stay, their nocturnal ways
Keeping neighborhoods on edge as they
Eek and screech as dusk settles each day.
"How difficult it must be to live with their kind!"
Bemoan the Neopets with one track minds.
Indeed, the friendly fliers of the sky frighten
The Neopets whom mistakenly chase them out—
The darkness becomes suspicious, the night
Less safe without the Korbats flocking about.
They leave for the Fairgrounds, yearning
For a place to call home by morning.
Colony of Korbats, new residents of the caves
And ride rafters around the deserted grounds,
Accept my apologies for the coerced replacement.
The day is ours, but the night should be yours.
Guardians of the dark, we are all now lost,
Lost in our darkness without your presence.
Korbats in Fall
Korbats may be
Childs of Halloween
But they have a warm side
People have hardly seen
Their favourite pastime
Is whipping up goodies
From chocolate korbats
To petite tea sandwiches
They even grow
Korbat pumpkins – adorable!
With leaves as ears
It’s a Fall miracle
They also love to rustle
In the wonders of fall
Playing amongst leaves
Or dressing up scarecrow dolls
Come nightfall they fly
Home for a wind down
Cosying with a pumpkin latte
Drifting, without a sound
Korbat's Lab, Work Never Fab
The pesky boxes plague his soul.
The Korbat, so fatigued,
Is bothered by the sweeping roll
Of circles past his league.
Too many sweep across the lab---
They seldom stay controlled!
This task is anything but fab---
The standards are so bold.
Eight or ten cannot be dropped!
Although the boxes break,
The swarming onslaught can't be stopped.
With competence at stake,
The Korbat also dodges brews
Of harm---some end his task!
However, others shall amuse---
They're beneficial flasks.
The Korbat tries his very best
To bash the boxes, yet
His job will never let him rest.
His work unfinished, debt
Will plague his soul---his job is tough!
Although he always tries,
His efforts never are enough---
His feelings meet demise.
Korbat Miner Outfit
This cave is somber, shadowy,
In need of candle light.
The dark is suffocating stuff.
It drowns out sound and sight.
The pitch black is a thing of fear.
The cave is full of gaps.
One slip, one trip, and you will fall…
This cave is full of traps.
There’s one thing you can give your pet
To keep it safe and sound.
The Korbat Miner Outfit is
The finest garb around.
The Korbat that is wearing it
Can tackle any cave.
It comes with gear that helps it climb,
And keeps your Korbat brave.
The Headtorch fixed upon its head
Will light its craggy path.
Your Korbat will climb zealously,
Not shake its fist with wrath.
The Coveralls are sturdy stuff,
Of denim tough and blue.
A pouch of suede around its waist
Is chestnut brown in hue.
The Gloves are crafted with such care.
They’re graced with spikes of steel.
They handle any precipice
With strength that is ideal.
The Shoes are leather, cured and thick.
They’re glossy, slick and oiled.
They keep your Korbut’s feet intact
Throughout its climbing toils.
And finally, I must point out
The Tail Cover as well.
It helps your Korbat clamber up,
Tenacious and propelled.
The cave’s no longer dreary, dark.
It’s filled with light and sound.
Your Korbat fills the cave with noise…
The pebbles crunch the ground.
The gloom is broken, silence gone.
Small echoes fill the cave.
Your Korbat is a hardy thing,
No longer pale, nor grave.
The Korbat Miner outfit is
A wonder to behold!
Please buy your Korbat this fine set
To keep it safe and bold!
Kevin and the Gormball
Kevin the Korbat plays his game.
He rests in waiting for Gormball, so tame.
The Gormball gets passed and it gets to his hands.
Kevin is careful, gently passing to where it lands.
As the Gormball makes it's rounds,
Kevin listens for the sounds.
To ensure of his win,
He keeps on his face, a grin.
For he knows the trick to save his streak.
If he loses this one, his future looks bleak.
The Gormball keeps going and Kevin starts to sweat.
It might explode soon, but he tries not to fret.
Finally they stand, it's between him or her.
One with his wings, and one with the fur.
The Gormball goes "POP!" and a voice cries out.
On Kevin's face, you don't see a pout!
Here crowns our champion once again.
Kevin the Korbat, Gormball King, he will reign.
Kevin the Korbat
Kevin the Korbat did not like to lose.
Unfortunately, that was all he could do.
Nearly twenty years he’d been playing this sport,
And yet, each year, his dreams did get thwart.
He started in Year 2 as a replacement,
And was disappointed with his final placement.
Though commentators called his skills promising,
Kevin noticed his performance was less than astonishing.
He thought he’d have a chance in Year 5,
With a streak of wins he felt he started to thrive.
But after a particularly nasty Gormball to the face,
Kevin ended the tournament in only third place.
He’d say to himself, “I must not give up,”
“Someday I’ll win that prized Gormball cup.”
But each year, it seemed, another player took first,
And the Korbat started to feel he was cursed.
Technically, he did have one win for his pride,
When in Year 13, Brian was disqualified.
The runner up - Kevin - was given the prize,
But it always felt false, like it was plagiarized.
And so Kevin was left to yearn
Just one win was what he longed to earn.
Practice, and practice, and practice he would
In hopes that someday his play would be good.
Gormball was a tricky pastime,
And Kevin was starting to feel past his prime.
But each year brought a new tournament,
And a new chance to undo his discontent.
This year was his, he could feel it!
HIs hopes were high, you’d better believe it.
This year would not be his downfall,
So he focused as the ref called, “PLAY BALL!”
