Symol Day Special!

The Symol Hole
by miraday

The Symol Hole is a phenomenon in Meridell
Some claim useless, some say worthwhile.
Approach with caution then ask yourself:
Will you climb in or dive cannonball style?

That network of tunnels beneath our feet
Is the crowning achievement of the Symols.
The opening of their labyrinth to the surface
Is in itself a prize for petpets seeking to explore.

Petpets spelunk and search, only to return
Empty-pawed and muddy for the most part.
Rarely, the droning of country days is jolted
By the emergence of an item that isn’t dirt.

The hole remains an enigma, as does its avatar
For the further down we go, the less we know.
Tunnels change daily, darkness hides the way.
Will we ever get to the bottom of the Symol Hole?

The Symol Dig Poem
by secant

Symols, dig deep,
Deep into the fresh dirt
Where seeds bloom
Into freshly fragrant flowers.

Symols, dig free,
Freely among the gardens of
Meridell farmers who hate the pesky
Petpets as if they were slorgs.

Symols, dig brave,
Be courageous in the face of
Adversary, of annoying Neopians
Who just want you for the avatar.

And at the end of the day,
After all things decay,
They return to the soil where our
Symols bury the hatchet.

The Wayward Symol
by a_ramsell

Gwyl dons his orange hard hat;
He's excited for his first day.
The mines are a perilous place,
But Gwyl's sure he can find his way.

The little Symol is ambitious,
And wants to prove his ability.
He's small, but he's crafty,
And known for his amazing agility.

Gwyl heads down a poorly lit tunnel,
Committed to showcasing his talent.
His trusty Lightmite flits on ahead,
Ready to help Gwyl with this challenge.

But suddenly there's a loud crash,
Followed by an oppressive silence.
Gwyl nervously calls out for help,
But the mine remains eerily quiet.

The Symol considers for a moment,
Then concocts a brilliant plan.
But he'll need his faithful Lightmite
To use its strong wings as a fan.

Gwyl fashions a makeshift balloon
Out of a bit of spare cloth.
The Lightmite beats its wings,
And suddenly, Gwyl's aloft!

The pair make their way upward,
Carefully avoiding danger.
Gwyl suffers a couple bumps and bruises,
But his injuries are nothing major.

Though the journey upward is dangerous,
The ambitious Symol snags a gem or two.
Returning to the surface empty-handed
Most certainly wouldn't do!

After what seems like ages to Gwyl,
He spies a dusty shaft of light.
He's safely made it to the surface,
Thanks to his trusty Lightmite!

Thank Ye Smol Symol
by terukiyo

Graceful whiskers, tiny nose,
Head tilted in gentle pose,
Small Symol leaves with its paws
Dainty holes, not gaping maws,
And smiles, chirps, and even gifts--
Like the small square badge that fits
Snugly next to your fine name
If your petpet wins the game
Of popping into a hole
As if they were a Symol!

As I tried with my petpet
Thrice the Meridell sun set.
My Cadro hopped in, eyes shut,
Hopped out covered in dirt... What!
No sweet Dirt Friend has he found,
Just a Dug Up Dirt Foreground.
"Wasn't that fun?" He looked proud.
"Isn't this cute? I found... grout!"
I wiped clean his snowy face
And gave him a tight embrace
"Just happy you came back safe
From such a mystery enclave!"

No true danger comes that way,
No shy Symols came that day.
But we, poor as Miamice,
Sold the dirt for a great price!
And when Meridell berries
And Neopian cherries
Flourish in loose, Grub-free soil,
It's thanks to the Symols' toil.
Down the Symol Hole we call:
"Happy Symol Day to all!"

The Mysterious Symol Hole
by catchinglights

Down in pleasant Meridell you can see,
A small, strange hole in the ground.
You might ask "What could this be?
And what sorts of treasures can be found?"

You might send your Petpet down to look,
For the hole is too small for a Neopet.
It might be wise to bring a book,
For you don't know how lost he'll get!

When your Petpet returns from the hole,
He'll be sure to show you what he's got!
For the hole was dug by a crafty Symol,
And filled with the treasures he sought!

More than dirt can be found down there,
Though there's plenty of that around.
So take some treasure if you dare,
If some even can be found.

Symols are the best at digging,
Of all the Petpets in all the land.
So in holes where you're barely wiggling,
The best treasure is close at hand.

The Symol Hole can be fun,
If you aren't expecting much.
The best treasures can only be won,
With a Symol's expert touch!

The Faerie Symol: A Fabulous Friend
by _brainchild_

The Faerie Symol isn't just
A rodent, I would say.
It's so enthralling, such a must
To brighten every day.
It's better than a Dung Petpet
Or dirty, old Psimouse.
The faerie is the best of yet,
The farthest from a louse!

The Faerie Symol's wings are graceful,
Like a butterfly's.
Its dainty dance is never dull,
And quite a nice surprise.
Its feathers are so soft, and they
Boast such breathtaking shine.
If only plumes of this array
Could actually be mine!

So, if you need a friend anew,
I have a choice in mind.
This faerie is so grand for you---
She's oh so sweet and kind.
Besides, her charm lacks parallel.
Such beauty and allure
Is sure to make you feel quite well.
You'll love her, that's for sure.

Symol's Lament
by doorknob39

Digging, digging,
Through soft earth,
Symol dreams of life with worth.

Living underground's no good,
If he could live above,
He would!

Debris under claws,
Matted into fur,
Even hardened hearts concur.

Subterranean existence
No one knows,
How terribly his dream of above slows.

Instead of smelling terrible scents,
Like worms and earth's crust
And acrid dust,

Wouldn't it be pleasant
To smell daisies and roses,
Smells pleasant to noses?

For now, Symol will live
Underground in solitude,
Someday, though, life above will be cued!

Symol in the Hole
by sk8tergirl503

Symol in the hole,
Eating breakfast from the bowl.

This little mole,
Has a newly made goal.

Today as a whole,
He will go for a stroll.

He's on a roll,
The walk is good for his soul.

Finally he stops, it has taken a toll.
He retreats to his home, where he has more control.

Don't forget about the Symol in the hole.
His story is classic, it's been written in a scroll.

Gwyl the brave symol
by smilingpony

Underground diggers,
Small but daring, the Symol
Are adventurous.

Gwyl had an idea
In order to make money
He would mine for jewels.

With his lightmite pet,
And his patchwork air balloon,
Gwyl entered the mine.

Down and down he went,
In search of treasures and gold
But his trip was doomed.

A cave-in occurred
Leaving Gwyl trapped in below
How would he get out?

Using the balloon,
And some rope from his descent,
Gwyl dangled below.

The beating of wings
From his lighmite was enough
To waft Gwyl around.

Clever and brave, Gwyl
Collected many treasures
During his escape.

With only a friend,
And a good plan, he was free
Gwyl, the brave symol.
