Kiss the Mortog, go on, kiss! 
Ribbit, croak, pop and hiss!
I know this, my lips won't miss,
The losers I will all dismiss,
The winner will not aim amiss,
They who take the prize in bliss,
I hope they are watching this.

Kiss the Mortog, what a dare!
Into his glowing eyes I stare,
Green and gross but I don’t care,
He's never seen a face so fair,
Bold bravery enough is rare,
Me and this Mortog, what a pair!
If I choose wrong, beware:
He’ll explode in bursting flair,
If I choose right, be aware:
A prince may stand right there!

Kiss the Mortog, if you should!
Illusen the faerie would!
Oh, only if I dreamed I could,
In Meridell out in the wood,
If I chose very, very good, 
If he then threw back his hood, 
And there the prince, he stood!    

Kiss the Mortog, oh what fun!
Oh how I wish that I had won,
Not riches by the bag or ton,
In this contest I have none,
A kiss from an admired one! 
But this alas I shirk and shun,
And before the game is done,
My plan and hair come undone,
I gather up my skirts and run,
Though charm and magic stun!

I kissed the Mortog, it came true!
From Illusen the faerie, I bid you
A merry Meridell Day long due,
To all ye knights, the bravest few,
To the fair and lovely faeries too,
With yet a noble heart to woo,
To the games with no more ado!

Land of King Skarl
And where Turmaculus has made his lair

The glade of Illusen
And Meri Acres Farm
The Rubbish Dump
The Cheeserolling hill
All add medieval rustic charm

Where marrows grow large
And knights the country roam
We'll stay ever vigiliant to fight for thee
Meridell our home

Meridell Discovered

One fine day back in year four
A new land was discovered
Meridell, a kingdom grand
it's secrets soon uncovered

A fertile place, verdant and lush
where farmers till the soil
playing cards to pass the time
and counting spuds to boil

In the center of it all
A castle, white and gleaming
dozing on his throne within
the Grump King Skarl is dreaming

he dreams of conflicts long gone by
of conflicts yet to be
but hopes that peace will reign a while
at least as long as he.

Meridell's Most Tasty Treats

In Meridell, there is a store
That sells such yummy food.
Medieval treats are here, galore!
They'll lighten any mood.

An Ixi-like Potato Pile
Has quite a lot of charm.
It feeds the diner for a while,
Yet animals aren't harmed!

Thick Creamy Porridge, underrated,
Is so rich and nice.
This lovely treat, as I have stated,
Does more than just suffice!

However, Draik eggs shouldn't be
A food for anyone!
A baby Draik of majesty
Awaits inside. How fun!

So, when you visit Meridell,
Enjoy the tasty eats.
You'll love the porridge, but remember---
Eggs are not your treats.

Hidden in the landscape of Meridell
Is Illusen and her Glade.
Tucked away from Neopia's chaos, 
Here one can seek her accolade. 
The peaceful fields and rolling hills
Leave Illusen undismayed. 
You can find her sending Neopets on quests,
Her wishes to which they bade.
While the kingdom of Meridell
is mighty, great, and unafraid --
Its most spectacular spectacle is Illusen
And her gracious willingness to trade.
The Earth Faerie will request a few items,
And in return for aide,
She will reward Neopians magical artifacts -- 
Beautifully handmade.
You might have noticed that
Far from Faerieland, she's strayed. 
And instead of hiding in the clouds,
She finds safety in the forest's shade. 
Her reasons for leaving Faerieland are unknown, 
But her decision has been made
To spend her time in her home, Meridell
Where the simpler times pervade.

An Ode to Meridell

Once there was a land called Meridell:
the land of heroes and legends of yore.
Under attack by Kass' Darigan forces,
Meridell was embroiled in war.

Lisha, Boris, Kayla, and Morris
all traveled back into the past.
Although from a different time and place,
Meridell had its heroes at last.

While they traipsed around this new land,
Lisha found Jeran, her long lost brother.
Combining their skills and their bravery,
they defeated Kass alongside each other.

And with Kass defeated and peace restored,
Meridell continues to flourish and grow.
With Illusen, a farm, and shops aplenty,
there are oh so many places to go.

Now on this special day we celebrate
sixteen years since Meridell was found.
Let's pick some berries and roll some cheese,
and let all our good cheer abound!

Meridell

Near the centre of all Neopia,
Sits a great castle, tall and white.
Surrounded by a glade of lush greens,
This land is truly a delight.

Where else could you roll cheese?
Or try to wake a sleeping giant?
Turdle racing, and kissing mortogs –
Buying petpets as a longtime client.

Inside this sprawling castle,
Sits a grumpy king upon his throne.
Get him to laugh hearty at a joke
Or being risked hurled at by bones!

If you’re feeling lucky, gamble or two,
Here, it is double or nothing at all.
Or you can try your hand at poker,
As long as you know when to call.

Over at Meri Acres Farms, more delights –
Counting potatoes or guessing the weight.
Finding some trash at the Rubbish Dump
Could be dumb luck or fate.

Here’s to Illusen, Skarl, Kayla and more,
Who call Meridell their forever home.
There’s no other castle and fields
That I can aimlessly roam.
