We may not look pretty,
We might not have wings.
We're not from the royals,
With the queens and kings.

Our eyes can be frightening,
But please do not flee!
We're really kind-hearted,
If you could just see!

Our bodies aren't plush
And rainbow they're not.
We aren't painted pastel,
Not even green snot!

We've been waiting right here,
In the Pound just to find,
An owner who'll love us,
And see that we're kind.

Don't judge us based on
The looks that you see.
We can be great 'pets,
If you'll let us be free.

Free from the pound doors
Where people walk by.
They'll give us a look
And let out a sigh.

We're the mutant pets
That get overlooked
But give us a chance,
And you might just get hooked!

A Mutant's Song

Here is something that just starts to bug me,
These Neopets are picked on, even called ugly.
But they are beautiful, this, there is no doubt.
Beautiful in their own way, inside and out.

They can be friendly, or funny, or caring you see,
Mutant Neopets are just like you and me.
A mutant, a mutant, a mutant it's true...
But one zap from the lab ray, it could happen to you!

So please don't be mean, don't you dare judge!
Even though some of them eat buckets of sludge.
And some might look like a huge tub of lard,
But please be nice, the mutant life is hard!

Mutant Affliction

Mutants lead lives of seclusion,
their presence seen as intrusion.
They haven't appeal;
some even congeal.
When will they earn their inclusion?

Mutants don't deserve all the hate;
it's quite an unfortunate fate.
They are deprived of
some much needed love,
for which they'll always lay wait.

If only a potion you had,
and then if you'd muse
a day in one's shoes,
you would see that mutants are rad;
and then you won't think they're so bad.

Now Mutant Day is upon us,
so this hatred we must discuss.
The hate is not needed,
it should be conceded;
though you don't have to like their pus.

Beautiful Mutant Kadoatie

A lonely little kadoatie
sat deep within the depths
of the Kadoatery.
His skin was rough and filthy
and his fur was falling out.

He was a mutant.
Ugly. Unwanted.

The other kads 
were blue or green
or even had beautiful
rainbow-patterned fur.
Those kads were fed
within seconds.
But this kad received
nasty glares from the
Neopians who passed by.

Occasionally he was tossed
the leftovers crumbs of a meal
that fed the kadoaties 
who were painted prettier colors.
The mutant kadoatie
cried and cried all day
but he knew deep down that
nobody thought he was beautiful.

One day, as he cried for food,
a Neopian stopped in front
of his cage for the
very first time.
The Neopian opened his door
and placed an item
in front of him.

It was a Happy Anniversary Negg,
one of the rarest and most loved
food item asked by kads.
The Neopian smiled at the
mutant kadoatie,
and the mutant kadoatie
smiled back.

Somebody finally saw
his beauty.

Mutant Lady

This mutant Usuki, not-so-fair,
Had baggy eyes and dishevelled hair,
Everyone ran away from her,
No one would even smell her fur.

No matter if she would wash the dishes,
Or fill my glass of Neocola with ice,
Her eyes were huge, yellow and ugly,
And her fur was full of disgusting lice.

But when we see her doing household chores,
We let this furry friend polish our doors,
Serve her a cup of nice, creamy milk,
Let her rest on our fluffy mattress of silk.

Mutant Pets, What should I do?

Mutant Pets, What should I think?
Some are cute and some just stink.
Sometimes wriggly, sometimes hairy,
Sometimes they are just plain scary!
I look at them from time to time.
Should I get one? I can't decide!
I really haven't got a clue,
What it is that I should do!
Mutant Lennys are a dream,
But Mutant Meercas make me scream!
The Zafaras are kinda cute,
And Mutant Kougras are cute to boot!
Quiggles are somewhat sad to see,
As are the creepy looking Xwee!
Mutant pets, I know what to do! 
I'll have to get one of each of you!

A Monstrous Mutant Kad Attack

Down the peaceful street I'm walking
When I hear more than mere talking.
I wince at most incessant cries
From putrid demons of small size.

Horrified, I try to flee
From the beasts attacking me.
Yet my efforts bear no fruit-
They have me in hot pursuit.

The Mutant Kads dash toward my purse
And steal 5k! What could be worse?
The fiendish foes have snatched my gold
And raced away, with guts so bold.

I sit atop a log and sob.
Why was I the one to rob?
It's unfair that monsters stole
5k away from my next goal!

I guess I'll have to play more games,
Monstrous Mutant Kads to blame.
Creatures anything but cute
Sprinted off with precious loot.

Mutant Pets

Mutant pets – they may seem icky
But understanding them is tricky
There is much more than meets the eye
Though some may make your young pets cry
A Mutant Draik, for one instance
May appear not only carnivorous
But hungry too! And wanting food
What’s that?  Just fruits?  Why I conclude
This harmless pet is no barbarian
In fact he’s sweet; a vegetarian!
Mutant Acara, a scary pet
Yet do not run away just yet
I think you’ll find this pet a charm
She sits there with her spool of yarn
Making scarves for the elderly
She donates them to charity!
So judge you not, by a pet’s paint
Since many Mutant pets are saints
And spare at first your scornful glance
Yes, give every Neopet a chance!

Hush Little Mutant

Hush, little mutant, and listen, 
   Then pray for a story with laughter,
The generator hasn’t worked in a few years, 
   It’s just such a big failure. 

Deep in the haunted woods 
   Where the spooky pets watched and waited; 
Brian tree in the forest, and ghostkerchiefs in the bush, 
   And I on my path sprinted. 

The rain and the night together 
   Came down, and the lightning came after, 
Bathing the trees in an eerie glow
   And swaying as a dancer. 

I leapt along in the darkness, 
   Cold and tired and blinded,
Found  a fir with thick-set boughs, 
   And a sheltering rock behind it. 

There, from the wind and rain, 
   Crouching near the edge, I sought to hide me; 
Something rustled, four yellow green eyes shone, 
   And two spookies lay down beside me.
 
Hush, little mutant, be not frightened; 
   I and two spookies together, 
Side by side through the long, tiring night, 
   Hid from the awful weather.

Mutant Nedler

Good grief, what apparition this???
So strange and weirdly painted!
With tentacles and horns of grey,
And very grossly scented!

It has four eyes in place of two.
Its hair is green and slimy.
Its hooves are sharp and pointy things.
It's fierce, although it's tiny.

I wonder if I'll ever love
This aberrance of nature.
It looks so fearsome, alien.
I'm shocked by its mere picture.

If ever I adopt a pet
That's Mutant-hued in color,
Perhaps I'll pair my Mutant with
The hardy Mutant Nedler.

For now, I shudder with some fear.
The shiver is delightful.
I love it when a Petpet is
As cool as it is frightful!
