GELERT DAY SPECIAL

Gelert Helm
by Indulgences

A lightning bolt of orange hue
Zigzags across its face.
The eyes, they burn with orange flame.
They're creepy, out of place.

Its face of coal is dark and black.
Its ears are dagger sharp.
This helm is for the Battledome,
Not for the faint of heart.

Its nose is held up high, aloft.
It seeks out poison traps.
No bomb escapes this helm's keen sense.
This helm makes no mishaps.

And like the Gelert's sturdy form,
This helm is light, petite.
But don't mistake this helm's small looks.
It's hardly frail or sweet.

This Helm is meant for skirmishes.
It blocks attacks, assaults.
It's meant to clash with enemies
In bitter, cruel onslaughts.

This Gelert Helm's incredible.
Go buy your own someday.
Your Gelert will be grateful, and
She'll win in every fray!

The Helpful Doctor
by Dr_tomoe

Sometimes in Neopia
your luck is just no good;
perhaps you caught something
after eating all that Gross Food,

or maybe you figured that
your stomach is on top
and decided to try out
that Jhudora-given lollypop.

It doesn't matter --
whatever the reason,
everyone gets sick,
no matter what season.

And whatever ails you,
a disease has a cure,
but there's many diseases
so you got to make sure

you know what you have
to take the right cure,
so to get the answer
visit the friendly Gelert doctor.

He runs the Neopian Hospital,
so he knows every sickness
and can inform you within minutes
of what is his diagnosis.

If you have Neopox, he will know...
same with Ugga Ugga and Bubbles.
A Floppy Tongue or Neggitus,
or if you're sick with Grumbles.

His prognosis will tell you
what cure you should see
and direct you to purchase
at the local Neopian Pharmacy.

The Gelert Prince
by Kanpai

Through the land of Meridell, there is a game
Where the winning prize is far from lame.
"Kiss the Mortog?" I read aloud,
As the next one in line I draw a crowd.

"Come hither, young one," the hostess calls,
"You could be the next princess,
You could have it all."
Light shines in my eye and ready to love,
The Grundo hollers, "NEXT!" as I step up.

Gulping in nervousness, I hold him close,
Kissed the Mortog, it's really gross.
As I glance up, I look with surprise...
A handsome prince before my eyes.

"The Gelert prince has come,"
The hostess shouts
As females alike start to pout.
I jump in joy, lavishing my win,
In the prince's arms I widely grin.

The air then comes thick and I can't see.
Where'd he go? He was just with me!
The Grundo glances and chuckles maniacally,
For, in front of my eyes,
Mortogs... now there are three.

I stare in disbelief; I must do it once more?
I find him again, but suddenly there are four.
I keep going and going until there are six,
But then the Mortog explodes
And, suddenly, it clicks.

The prince is a myth, the game had me tricked,
Kissing Mortog after Mortog until I got sick.
I finally gave up after my hundredth wince,
Letting go of the idea of the Gelert prince.

A Loyal Gelert
by Sophiesausage

Do you have some spare time
and a space in your heart?
Then, why not adopt
A loyal Gelert?

They're fun-loving creatures
who will play all day long,
and then lay next to you
and relax in the sun.

And, when you get lonely
they are always around,
but when you are sleepy
they won't make a sound!

They protect you from enemies
who want fight,
and stand and take guard
for you all through the night.

Why wouldn't you want
this friend for life,
who can help you remove
all your troubles and strife?

With this 'pet around
you will never get hurt,
so why not adopt
A loyal Gelert?

The Rough And Tough Girl Gelert
by Sugarypixiestix2

She has an intimidating stare
that one might view as unfair.
It makes others feel inferior
and they regard her as superior.

You'll never see her in a dress
or sitting calmly to play chess.
Mud is often seen in her hair,
yet she does not seem to care.

This Gelert has a real swagger;
no one's ever seen her stagger.
Even Skeiths cross the street
when she's walking on concrete.

Because, if you get in her way,
there's a price you have to pay.
Her short stature and physique
give her an intriguing mystique

that may fool a Neopet or two
into finding her respect untrue,
but this is promptly corrected
by everyone that she's affected.

The Wayfaring Gelert, Elwyn
by Vinanas

The author of The Gelert Diaries
And a friend of Selby, whose looks are unknown,
Has written impressive stories
about his adventures that are not overblown.

He occupied a mart in Neopia Central,
But after conversation about Terror Mountain
He set off to travel liberal,
His voyage route uncertain.

The first day of his trek he stopped for a break,
His belly's been rumbling
For a Mint Chocolate Gelert Cake,
But all he had was chicken soup with a dumpling.

The second day of his journey,
He sailed on a crafted ketch,
Having his sight on the land before him
Already leaned on the edge,
Couldn't wait no more,
Jumped in the water and began to swim.

The third of his trip, he arrived at Happy Valley
and scrutinized his surrounding.
The description and his view tallied
about the mountains and the resounding.

The fourth and last day of his expedition,
He returned home with dozens of narrations,
He published his journal
So that his stories could exist eternal.

Farming Is My Day
by Nostalegia

Hurray, hurray!!!
It's Gelert Day,
let's all gather to celebrate.
This is the single day,
that work is off my way.

Some call me Gilbert,
others have no clue,
since today is my day,
I can't wait to train.

Cap'n Threelegs, here I come,
becoming a pirate is my dream,
no dubloons in the pocket,
but can I still be on your team?

Picking Your Own is off today,
so I can to set sail on your way.
Fantasy, dream or nightmare,
at last it went away.

It seems a hundred years ago,
when I was all day on my own,
in my place I will always stay,
that's why I am here today!

Actually I never went away,
since my farm is my passion.
Whatever comes my way,
the farm and I will always stay.

Kanrik Kaos!
by Floop695

Be alert! That swift Gelert
will take your Neopoints and run.
Don't divert, your purse will hurt!
It's really not much fun.

When that conniving Kanrik comes your way,
if you're not careful you will pay
when that sneaky 'pet's thieving quest is done!

Bar up your windows, board you doors,
pull the shutters down!
Close your shops, lock your safes
'til he's run out of town!

"But don't be mean, he's not what he seems,"
the ignorant will claim.
"He might be good, just misunderstood!"
but the fact remains the same.

If you let this pest inside your nest,
great havoc he will wreak!
He'll rob you blind, leave nothing behind
while you're sound asleep!

Gelert Day
by Crazydemon1

Today is the birthday of Kanrik the Gelert,
But I can't believe what he has done!
He stole all of his birthday gifts
So fast that I blinked my eyes and he was gone!

And then we've got Gilbert, he works every day!
I will give him some cake with berries on top!
Fresh from his garden picked by myself
And some nice gifts straight from the gift shop!

But don't forget about Bruno, my mutant friend!
He may be ugly but he deserves a birthday treat!
So, we all sing a song for him together!
Dance with him,
When we know he dances off-beat.

Happy birthday, Gelerts!

I, Spotted Gelert
by Lucyvolleyball3

Black on white --
Tiny little spots, scattered specks
Of coal on pristine, clean snow.
Reflecting and absorbing light,
My coat is ever-changing.
Move one limb and a spot is
Gone.
Twist another way, contort my spine,
And then, all of a sudden, the mark is
Here again.

Long, lithe limbs limberly live long,
Running 'round rough, rocky roads,
Breathing, bursting burning bones,
Fetching frisbee freefall fine.

I am the
Special buddy,
Powerful opponent,
Ornery debater,
Tried
True
Energetic sportsman,
Dependable and
Generous citizen,
Enigmatic creature,
Loyal companion but
Effervescent child,
Regal adult and
Tenacious spotted Gelert!
