DAY OF GIVING SPECIAL

Presents For The Day Of Giving
by Dr_tomoe

The Day of Giving has come,
which brings an end to the year,
and we celebrate with gifts,
company, and plenty of good cheer.

And all across Neopia
presents are exchanged,
but who should get what?
How should this be arranged?

Well, for Neopian writers,
perhaps the gift to send
is a fancy writing tool
like a Ghostkerchief Pen?

For the lover of gourmet food,
there's one gift I saw,
get them an edge on New Year's dieting
by picking up a Rainbow Melt Pizza.

For a fan of cute things,
the best gift I see
is something large and white...
of course, get them a Plumpy.

For the evil genius you know,
a laboratory would be keen,
and to get them started, get them
the Book of Evil Schemes.

For the eccentric collector,
a strange item to fetch,
and nothing is stranger then
a collection of Utility Fish.

And for a lover of long-running
Advent Calendar plots.
This one is easy:
get something with Hubrid Nox.

It's not so hard to think of
a gift to bring holiday cheer,
just use your head, think of what they like,
and you'll surely make their year.

But don't worry too much,
especially on my account,
when it comes to the Day of Giving
it's always the thought that counts.

Nonliving Day Of Giving
by Comawhite333

The perfect place to celebrate this day
Is the Haunted Woods, believe it or not,
The very same place
You purposely forgot.

Here, you'll watch a beautiful parade
Made up by zombies and ghosts,
Sipping hot Borovan
While making gracious toasts.

Passing by, you'll see
The Brain Tree is decorated,
And he obviously hates it so,
But he looks less menacing
With a colorful glow.

You'll toss last year's fruit cake
At the hungry Esophagor,
Who greedily whines he's still hungry
As you continually toss him more.

Like us, you'll wear the ugliest sweaters
Our elderly 'pets ever created,
But we'll admire their persistence
To carry on fashion traditions
That have long-since faded.

Then you'll sing carols
Outside of Edna's Tower,
While she stands grumpily by her window
Looking rather sour.

Next, you'll move on to Sophie,
Who brings inanimate objects to life,
Putting on an amazing show
While we all stand outside her hut
In knee-deep snow.

Everything scary
Becomes everything nice,
From the creepy echoes that usually sound
To the mutated Neovian Miamice.

Nothing here will bother you
On this very special day,
And trust me when I say,
You've never celebrated a Day of Giving
Until you've celebrated it
With the nonliving.

The Sugar Plum Faerie's Land
by Sugarypixiestix2

All year long she prepares her sweets,
up and down every one of her streets.
Her land is made of sugary sensations
that have stayed true for generations.

The Day of Giving is her special time,
this day is when she is in her prime.
No cake or cookie shall go unchecked,
every dessert will be doubly confect.

With her at all times is her cookbook,
in case a recipe needs a second look.
Never letting it go out of her sight,
the book is even guarded by a sprite.

Candy is sacred to a sugar plum faerie,
it's her honour to sweeten every berry.
Other faeries wish they had her talent,
for baking with such focus and gallant.

In the morning when she opens her gate,
Neopians rush inside to grab a plate.
It is just for that one day in winter,
so it turns everyone into a sprinter.

Since we all want to be first in line,
to gobble up goodies of every design.
It's an experience you cannot explain,
transforming you onto another plane.

You are allowed to take your dish home,
which will be wrapped amply by a gnome.
But when the sun sets you must leave,
her magic can only hold you this eve.

Dream 'Pet Giveaway -- Believe
by Rielcz

We all know that our dream 'pets
Are quite hard to achieve,
But maybe all we have to do
Is hope, ask, and believe.

A lottery runs this Christmastime,
In which ten lucky winners receive
Their oh-so-sought-after dream 'pets;
They just had to believe.

On this joyous Christmas morn
A new plush 'pet is weaved,
A new babe is born,
Ten 'pets in joyous disbelief!

Exuberance will fill this day,
There is no time to grieve,
If you didn't win, be happy for who did,
And next year, again, believe

Hooray For Stocking Stufftacular!
by Chavo_guerrero

In the month of Celebrating
There are stockings to be hung,
Filled up every morning,
And in a row are strung.

A ticket from the NC Mall
Is all that this does cost,
To play Stocking Stufftacular,
And get a gift from old Jack Frost.

Hung upon your day of choice,
Who knows what you'll get?
But by the presents we've received so far,
It'll be something amazing, I'll bet!

Sometimes there's a pair of wings,
Another time -- a box!
Perhaps a shower or a sword,
Or a wig with perfect locks!

So many beautiful things to wear
From our stockings hung this year,
So, for Stocking Stufftacular and the NC Mall,
We'll give a festive cheer!

Haiku Of Giving Eve
by Thewishingtree

Day of Giving eve
Presents, stockings, all around
We'll open them soon!

Excitement abound
The Neopets can hardly wait
But look! My oh my!

Wow! There's snow outside!
Taelia must have sent it
The snowballs will fly

Soldiers of the snow!
Time to wage war on the ice
Should we go in now?

We sit 'round the fire
And we drink hot Borovan
Light is fading fast

We look at the clock
Finding the time by firelight
Just one last story

It's past your bedtime
Santa Kau shall come quite soon
Good night, go to sleep.

Ode To The Neopet Dream Giveaway
by Trubiekatie

Once the clock strikes the 25th,
I eagerly wait to see the news.
Will I be jumping for joy
Or down with the blues?

TNT is so generous, you see,
And they do it once a year.
For each 25th day of Celebrating,
The team doles out holiday cheer.

For several lucky Neopians,
Their dream 'pet is waiting.
A new species, a new color,
While the others are hating.

Maybe I’ll be lucky this year?
But I bet so many enter.
The winners are all known,
Put right front in center.

I’d wish for a Draik!
Actually, a new paint color, too!
Why, a new stealthy Draik,
Waiting to make her big debut.

She wouldn’t need to be wrapped;
I don’t even need a box!
I might need a strong cup of Borovan
To settle all the shocks.

I’m wishing and wishing
That my name will be picked.
I can’t know my chances;
They’re too hard to predict!

The Day Of Giving Truce
by Darkpixie28

Snowflakes glistened in the air;
The Day of Giving was nigh.
But war raged on in Tyrannia
Beneath the solstice sky.

Little Katie, Lilly and Lanie:
Children fighting and cheering.
A twisted spirit hung in the air,
It told a fate they were fearing.

That long winter evening, the three
Went out into the battlefield.
They need not fight, but rejoice,
The Awakened girls appealed.

The girls recalled sweeter days.
Before tombs, before the war.
Before, in times of candy canes,
Before they thought of before.

They offered Katie a lollypop;
The twins did cherish sweets.
The Seeker’s heart accepted;
She’d seen few kinder feats.

Hand in hand in hand they went
To the airship, Seekers’ home.
Some Seekers drew their weapons
Or hid behind an ancient tome.

They proposed a truce to Lambert
For one day of gifts and cake.
With a nod, yes, the four went off,
There was more peace to make.

Snowflakes glistened in the air,
The Day of Giving was nigh,
And war did halt in Tyrannia
Beneath the solstice sky.

Winter Starlight Celebration
by _charmy_

High up north
Is a land so cold,
Through the ice, wind, and snow,
It's been discovered many moons ago.

Every year there's a celebration,
Which brings about a great temptation.
Entering is for the brave
Deep within this dark cave.
It's quite a wager,
Stealing from the Snowager.

During one month in this year,
You can fill up your stockings, so I hear,
If you were bad,
don't be sad,
There's a gift for every girl and lad.

Oh such joy, every day
The Advent Calendar gives away
Lovely presents for one and all;
Don't miss out and come have a ball!

The Gift Of Sloth
by Debbie1188

Good health, dear reader! Let me tell
a winter yarn. You should know well
the scene in which this tale takes place,
a structure orbiting in space,
where rituals of winterfest
are described as “rather odd” at best.
Delivering presents Virtuletide
is Santa Sloth, space station-wide.

Well, tucked into a corner there,
a group of Virtupets fans were.
They’d had a fun but tiring day,
and now around the fire lay.
Their tree, adorned with faerie lights,
would watch them as they slept that night.
But suddenly, a fuse did blow,
and stole from them their faeries’ glow.

“Oh no!” did cry the youngsters.
“How will Santa ever find us now?”
“Don’t panic,” spoke their leader, “for
we’ve been through worse than this before!
Remember when Sloth’s birthday cake
was left near Florg’s room by mistake?
If those of you awake should choose,
you could search cupboards for a fuse.”

In total, parties three were sent;
taking flashlights, off they went.
For near an hour they were gone.
Some fretted they’d been far too long.
But, at long last, footsteps, paces,
were heard, soon joined by stony faces.
Alas, their search had unearthed nil,
though one last team was searching still.

And so, they waited for some time,
’til midnight bells did start to chime.
And at that point, the rest did show,
carrying something long in tow.
“No fuses,” one said, “did we find--”
then gestured to her friends behind.
“Upon a shelf, we chanced to spy
a set of lights, but far too high.

So for a ladder, we did search;
it helped us reach their lofty perch.
So, if our faerie lights are through,
we wondered: would these plain lights do?”
“My friends, you‘ve found the answer!”
said the leader. “Now, get off to bed.
Sloth will come for sure tonight,
don’t worry, I’ll arrange the lights.”

Little did they know that he,
from vantage point no one could see,
with coat of black and beard of green,
had watched them through that lengthy scene.
“Such teamwork fills my soul with pride --
they’ve earned a treat this Virtuletide!”

The first awake that morn would see
a small change to their precious tree.
“No power plug?” the lad would squeal
When he looked closer: “Guys! They’re real!”
