JETSAM DAY SPECIAL

The Perfect Pet
by Chavo_guerrero

The Jetsam is a Neopet
Of quite unique design,
A handsome fish to see around,
I wish they all were mine.

In the grin set on his face,
Pointed teeth are sharp and white,
Don't get too close!
This Neopet can really bite.

Always ready for a fight,
Built for the Battledome,
Strong and fearless warriors,
How I want to take one home!

These Neopets are thought to be mean,
With a nasty, vicious streak,
But with so many other highlights,
That's a pretty weak critique.

The Jetsam can be loyal
And be your closest friend,
And if you want a fighter,
It's a Jetsam I recommend.

But these 'pets aren't for everyone,
There's not a bow in sight,
And even the cutest Jetsams
Can really give a fright.

So, think it through quite carefully,
Is it a Jetsam you require?
Is it strength and power
That you really do desire?

And if it is, then you're in luck!
There's nothing in your way;
Go and make your perfect 'pet,
For today is Jetsam Day!

The Day A Jetsam Lost His Teeth
by Kaddiez

The day a Jetsam lost his teeth
Was an awful day, indeed.
Now soup and mushy foods
Were all that he could eat.

No longer could he chow on
Odd commodities, no,
The times of eating hardwood tables
Were now just memories.

When a Petpet annoyed him
He could no longer flash a smile,
To warm them of the dangers coming
If they blabbed a longer while.

He'd turn into the laughing stock
Of Jetsams around the seas.
Who'd ever heard of one who couldn't
Chomp down any feast?

Now the Jetsam sat lonely, sighing,
Reminiscing over his pearly whites.
He supposed he'd need some dentures
To set what went wrong right.

The Jetsam Witchdoctor Stories
by Sugarypixiestix2

Some say he is only a scary tall tale,
but others swear they've seen his trail.
Tiny traces of magic fall from his staff
each time he lets out his echoing laugh.

Showing it as proof that he's no fable,
and that he is terribly far from stable.
He lives inside Mystery Island's jungle,
which for most would be quite a bungle.

It's a dangerous place to make a home,
or even to stop if you drop your comb.
The Island Mystic says he's his friend,
but we all know he does like to pretend.

Rumours spread that he loves Halloween,
and it's a night that he's often seen.
Because he is easily able to blend in
with Neopians who costume their skin.

Though, no one in all of Neopia's years
has ever had true proof of these fears.
Even still locals continue to believe
that doubting the Witchdoctor is naive.

Lady Sharkseas Conquest Of The Quiggletons
by Dr_tomoe

Jetsam Day has come today
and, as tradition dictates,
I shall inform all poetry fans
with a Lady Sharkseas update.

We spoke in past years
about her temper and ebil,
and how she was kept at bay
by those in Quiggleton castle.

Her demands for power,
and to make others serve her,
has corrupted even her
Personal Wind-Up Butler.

For this year, she struck
from her Aquarium Headquarters,
to get the Quiggle crown
and expand her boarders.

Her assault was successful.
The Quiggletons couldn't fight back,
and now are forced to wear
Ultra Fashionable Potato Sacks.

They hid under the bed,
but Sharkseas was not done,
and tossed them all
into the castle dungeon.

Her attack consisted of
a big box of random science,
and of course her trident
to poke those with defiance.

But she also added in
a bottled tornado,
so she could unleash
a Jetsam Sharknado!

With all of her beauty, her will,
not to mention her smarts,
it's no question why she won!
(She forced me to write this part.)

What does Lady Sharkseas plan to do
now that she has conquered her Quiggle foes?
You'll find out next year,
so you'd better stay on your toes!

Biscuit Jetsams Have It Tough
by Flufflepuff

Circ'ling in a prison, blind,
A Jetsam swims with fear,
Sensing that, though knowing not,
His end may be quite near.

The tall vessel in which he tries
To find an up or down
Is filled with milk, soaking into
His long fins and his crown

Of chocolate chips. The fellow squints;
He's struggling to see
Through the shields of milk and glass,
But fails miserably.

He breaks free from his vertigo,
Spiraling up high.
His biscuit tail starts crumbling,
But he shatters the sky

Of whiteness. He slides down the cup,
Bewildered, but unharmed.
A sudden noise makes him turn 'round,
With full cause for alarm.

Above him tow'rs a blue creature
Anticipating food
In the form of dunked cookies,
For which she's in the mood.

He bolts with fins not meant to run,
The blue monster gives chase,
Drooling o'er her fleeing meal.
But who will win this race?

Relle Felson
by Lilahne_aluoki

Kiko Lake is tranquil;
Even visitors are languid and calm,
The gentle breeze a healing balm.
Yet, in the distance -- hear him?
Swimming laps across the lake,
Towing baby Kikos in his wake,
It's Relle Felson the Jetsam!
Once a renowned Yooyuball forward
That now is heading shoreward.

He played for Kiko Lake;
Was nominated Most Improved Player,
Proving wrong all the naysayers
Who doubted his hard-earned skill.
And he promised to return next year
To the fans that held him dear.
But during that very winter,
While practicing his passing,
He suffered an injury quite lasting.

Diagnosed a simple sprain,
Yet there is no proper tail cast
That, for a Jetsam, will last,
For they are rough and jolly fellows.
And the pain in Relle's tail
Was enough to make him wail!
The injury was slow to heal;
And that is the reason
He did not make the team that season.

So, in all the years since,
Relle Felson has been in training,
Though rehabilitation can be draining.
And this spotted Jetsam is often seen
With a Yooyu in hand
As he swims toward land.
And if you were to ask
When he might rejoin the team,
He'll beam!

"I've been hard at work,"
Relle tells his fans
From far-off lands.
"I've never been in better shape,
And Captain Cellers had been by.
You've gotta love that guy!
And, barring further incident,
You might get the chance to cheer
For me at the AC next year!"

The Jetsam Ace
by Dortho

Who could that be out in outer space?
Possibly it's the Jetsam Ace!
A water dweller on a barren moon rock?
How could they even walk?

There's one in the Cosmic Dome
With a helmet so clear,
Lots of room to roam,
Do not approach with fear!

He may not be able to smell you
From miles away,
But can certainly ruin your Neo-day,
Or perhaps, if you're lucky,
Make your day brighter,
If you happen to be a valiant fighter.

A Nerkmid here, and a plate of cookies there,
Battling this one won't leave you in despair.
If you dare,
try the dome in outer space.
Just stay strong, and don't leave in disgrace!

Jetsam Sea Captain Outfit On Jetsam Day
by Indulgences

The very first Jetsam outfit on Neopets
Was the Sea Captain costume.
I have no regrets
About buying this outfit
for my own dear Jetsam.
He looks marvelous.
He looks so brave and handsome.

A Rain Slicker of sunny yellow hue,
And a matching Rain Hat that I'll never rue,
Are together sold for ten thousand Neopoints.
Such a lovely outfit will not disappoint!

I'm thinking of going one step further
And giving my Jetsam a brand new brother.
I can create one on Jetsam Day.
These two new siblings will laugh and play!

Get yourself some Jetsam wearables
Before their prices rise and double.
Everyone is dressing their pets for Jetsam Day.
There's nothing they won't do or pay!

Bringing Home A Jetsam
by Mreilynne

When bringing home a Jetsam,
There are things to keep in mind.
You must make it happy
So that it will be kind.

Don’t try to give it a Petpet,
Just accept defeat!
‘Cause a Jetsam will accept it,
But as a tasty treat.

Jetsams love the water,
So take yours for a swim.
Without hesitation,
It will jump right in!

A Jetsam’s favorite thing
Is to go and fight.
So, take it to the Battledome
And all will be alright!

Don’t read your Jetsam books!
They don’t care to be smart.
Just give them lots of weapons,
For fighting is their art.

Don’t forget to train them
So that they’re fast and strong.
For, if you do not do this,
Their battles will be too long!

There’s one last thing to do
For your Jetsam to stay:
You must give it lots of love,
And celebrate Jetsam Day!

Mr. Irgo's Plight
by Phadalusfish

The red Jetsam peered through opening
Of the cavern, waiting for an adventurer
To wander past. He twiddled his thumbs
And watched the sun sink low.

His stomach knotted; his purse was light.
He had never had to wait this long, not
In the years since he took up his post
Inside the mouth of the Techo Caves.

Just as he turned away from the cave mouth,
Footsteps rang out against the stone,
Echoing through the large chamber.
He looked down
At the white Lupe who approached.

“Yes?” he asked, hoping that this Lupe
Would be able to turn his fortune's tides.
Lupes, after all, had been the most successful
At completing the quests he set before them.

“I was told that you could make me more
Powerful armor,” the Lupe said. His tone was
Deferential, but not meek. Mr. Irgo started
To feel the stirrings, deep in his gut, of hope.

“I can, but there is a price,” the Jetsam said.
The Lupe showed him
A purse bursting with coins.
It was tempting, but there were greater riches
To be made in the Techo Caves.
“Not that kind.”

“What, then?” the Lupe asked.
“I need you go deeper in the Techo Caves and
Retrieve the perfectly intact eye, hide,
And heart of the Drakonid that wander there.”

He showed the Lupe a robe hanging from a
Small outcropping of rock on the wall.
“I will be able to reward
You with one of these,”
He said. “But do not tarry.”

“I won’t,” the Lupe nodded, and set off out of
Town. Mr. Irgo watched him go. Sunset faded
Into darkness. Stars turned in the sky over the
Caves, and the noises grew louder.

It had been weeks. Weeks since he’d been
Able to deliver on their orders. Weeks since
He’d shown his face in the dark alleys
Of the market. Weeks since he’d gotten paid.

The sky started to grow brighter again,
And Mr. Irgo had given up hope of the Lupe
Returning. He thought of his buyers,
Who surely would turn to other merchants.

Wait. That zap. That sounded like magic.
A green light appeared
From deep within the cave,
And within the sphere of light, Mr. Irgo
Could make out the silhouette of a Lupe.

There was a bag slung over his shoulder.
He dropped it at the Jetsam’s feet, and the
Drawstring slid loose, revealing the contents
Of the Lupe’s treasure haul. “Here,” he said.

Mr. Irgo inspected the items. Yes, these
Would suffice. “Your Robe of Protection,”
He held the robe out to the Lupe, who spent
A few seconds feeling the cloth before taking it.

“It will serve you well,” Mr. Irgo promised.
“I know it will,” the Lupe said, smiling. He
Disappeared back in the Techo Caves, the
Green light glowing with him.

Mr. Irgo waited until he was out of sight,
And then waited a little longer to make sure
He wasn’t going to get lost and wander by
Again, then walked into gentle dawn light.

It was market day, and in just a few hours,
His purse was going to be
Fatter than the Lupe’s.
