KOI DAY SPECIAL

The Koi's Guide To The Gallant Sea
by Nocturnal_ned

Welcome to our little world,
You've traveled deep below,
Deep underneath the seas
Is where we choose to grow

Welcome to our little world,
It may be wet but it is fun,
Swim with us through the riptides,
The fun has only just begun

Welcome to our little world,
The ground beneath is bubbling,
But look up above in the surface
With all the Bubblebees hovering

Welcome to our little world,
Come with us for an exquisite dish,
The meal is on us,
But please, don't eat the fish!

Welcome to out little world,
All hail our proud king,
Let's raid his treasures,
We'll even take his blessing

Welcome to our little world,
This tour is about to end,
We hope you enjoyed your stay,
Now off to you I send.

Turo Rafels's Plea
by _chopin

I sit inside my Neohome,
Fins wrapped in a cast.
Thinking on my glory days
And why they didn't last.

Once an agile defender
On Shenkuu's debut team,
Part of the Cup's great history --
Any Neopian's dream.

It's true I was often injured,
"Unreliable," they say.
But I was a talented young Koi,
Committed in every way.

I was surprised to be replaced
So quickly the following year.
Now I watch from the stands,
Donning my old Shenkuu gear.

Perhaps it's for the best
That Antola take my place,
My frequent fin injuries
Would likely slow my pace.

But I'd like to ask team Maraqua
To put me in their goal.
Tonie Plessex may be large,
But his run is more a stroll.

The Guardian Of Fanciful Fauna
by Flufflepuff

Misty, mighty mountains loom
O’er unknown depths below.
Their residents resemble them
In spirit. One Koi shows

Her lively grace in her bright taste
Of colors which she dons.
On spots of black and tan, a robe
Of green and sash of bronze.

One would think she does not fit
On land, without the sea.
But she defies normal logic
And glides effortlessly.

When sunlight on her high home dims,
The Koi climbs up above.
On craggy, coarse rock cliffs she clings,
To give more Petpets love.

Petpets trapped or hurt get stuck.
And so, the Koi does climb,
Determined, like her princess, she
Brings aid to those she finds.

For Petpets with rare beauty dwell
In Shenkuu’s crevices.
The Koi takes pity, brings them home,
And gives them medicines.

Tender fins ward off their fear,
From Dandans to Naleaps.
But purchasing restoratives,
Alas, does not come cheap.

She sells her Petpets, finds them homes.
And those from every corner,
Flock to her to get a chance
To buy fanciful fauna.

Karpoh The Koi
by Meerca1234212

Deep in the depths of the ocean,
buried underneath the sand,
lies a hidden trove of treasure,
the remnants of a bygone land.

Enter Karpoh the dashing Koi,
daring to explore this watery domain,
he wanders around Old Maraqua,
at least what little remains.

Karpoh comes upon ancient troves
of artifacts of old and yore,
long ago eerily abandoned,
now strewn across the floor.

Yet this treasure comes at a price,
for nothing in life is free.
There lie many ominous dangers
lurking silently in the sea.

Jetsams and Slorgs lay hidden
just around the bend,
if they manage to catch Karpoh
his adventure will come to an end.

However, our wily hero
outwits his deadly foes
and absconds with his treasure;
up to the surface he goes.

The Dashing Dilemma Of Koi; What To Wear?!?
by Silver_azalea

Having no legs or
Serpentine flow to their looks,
Koi deal with a jam;

Most dresses and pants
Are rather chunky on them,
Except for a few.

Wigs and hats sometimes
Remove the fin on their heads,
Or their ear-like ones.

But never fear! Most
Koi-specific items look
Rather radiant.

One of my favoured
Bundles for Koi clothing is
The Maractite Koi!

Though the helmet does
Hide some fins, the colours look
Awfully awesome!

Plus, your 'pet will be
Ready for all scalawag
Pirate invaders.

I also love the
Koi Spelunker set, mainly
For marine caving.

You can’t go wrong with
The concert violinist...
Neat pack of items!

(Though I don’t like the
Wig much, and prefer the male
Gypsy instrument)

Have a Koi that can’t
Swim very well? Buy a life
Preserver for them!

Or perhaps they love
To swim, and would like to
Try ocean lord clothes?

Want a scary look?
The fun seaweed ensemble
Should do just the trick!

For those with magic
Endeavours, gypsy crystal
Ball works some wonders!

Finally, I would
Highly recommend for some,
fashionable dress;

It has a lovely,
Slender look to it that will
Oh and ah friends.

So, if you’re a Koi,
Don’t fret; there are plenty of
Chic clothes just for you!

The Coy Koi
by Yarslov

Oh how coy the Koi are,
Their beautiful fins,
Their shy smile,
I could sit and watch them for awhile.

How they dart back and forth,
Under the reeds they play,
Sunlight reflects off their scales
And makes little rainbows in the day.

The coy Koi know
How to use their coyness well,
Come into the water where they dwell,
They happily let you know,
Being pretty is not the only thing that they do.

Under the water it is a sight to see,
All the Koi battling,
Though they might be pretty,
Do not be the fool,
In a heartbeat they will
Challenge you to a duel.

Oh, how coy the Koi are,
Under the reeds they play,
Their scales shimmering,
Their warriors battling,
All under the waves.

Maraquan Lament On Koi Day
by Toffeedatepudding

I think, no matter where you travel,
The truth will always unravel.
Though you may journey high and low,
You will return to what you know.
And who you know, you shan't forget,
Have you shed your fins yet?
Too strong the memory of corals
And seaweed dancing laurels,
Sandy floor, Kelp, and bubble bed
Etched in smiles inside your head.
You still will see, all in blue,
Water is peace embracing you.
You will come back, you know when
Past the storms above, and then
You'll be home among the shells,
In caverns where Noaks dwell.
I think, no matter where you be,
Your home will always be undersea
Maraqua waits while you roam,
Swim home, old Koi, come home.

Dancing Koi
by Shadowsephira

Gurgle, gurgle, the bubbles burble
In the deep blue sea,
Where the Koi swim and flash their fins,
Doing a dance as they twirl and spin

Colors flash on their shiny scales,
Brilliant colors like nothing else,
As the sun shines across the water
Reflecting beautifully in all its splendor

The Koi dance in wondrous spirals,
Swimming up and over each other,
They dash and dart, none left apart,
From the dance they know by heart

Neopets gather to watch in wonder,
Smiling happily they stay, not wander,
This Koi dance is known from afar
As all Neopia watches in awe

The Koi's Secret
by System

Come over here, yes, gather 'round,
But keep it low, not too much sound,
I have a great story to share with you,
"About whom?" you ask, I'll give you a clue:
I'm a barber in deep Maraqua
And I cater to nobles near and far,
This story's one I have never shared,
It's about the King called Kelpbeard

He came to my shop all glimmering bright,
And asked for a trim for his beard full of might,
I sat him in my tall barber's chair,
Then reached for my tools and combed his hair,
He stayed aloof and silent as time went by,
So I just cut his beard all quiet and shy

But as I got deeper in the tangle of mane,
I realised his secret, clear and plain,
For, although his name would have us believe
There's no trace of kelp in his bristly weave,
When I was done he got up and started to go
Then turned back; "Tell no one
About what you know."
He tossed me a bag full of silver and gold,
"After all, I have a reputation to uphold."

Kipper The Wonder Koi
by Ilumizi

Gather around, it's time to tell
the story of what lies beyond the Kelp,
I'll tell you of a Koi that I once knew,
A fearless lad who promised to
Protect Maraqua from falling through

They stormed by sea, remained unseen,
They accumulated by the reef,
The creatures of the dark and deep,
They wait for you to fall asleep,
As nighttime falls they make their sweep

"Kipper, save us!" they called aloud.
"I would, but I don't think I know how!"
He swam in panic within the crowd
"Kipper what do you mean?!?" they agreed,
"You're the bravest Koi we've ever seen!"

The monsters dragged his peers away
Before he could even make it halfway,
With his pride too abundant he must convey
his love for his comrades, and without a delay
He dove to the deep to save the day

There looked to be a sunken ship;
Could that be where his comrades hide?
He was attacked as he looked inside!
Faced with the beast as two bodies collide,
He conquered the beast and cast him aside

He heard the cries of all his people,
"Don't let us down! Don't let us drown!"
He fought his way through every creature,
Their faces still haunt him,
Their ghastly features

"Creatures, don't you see?
I'm Kipper Koi from the land of the free."
He took his villagers and swam away,
They sing his songs to this day
