RUKI DAY SPECIAL

Ruki Wanders
by Soul_liz312

Strolling along the warm sands
Of The Lost Desert
A lonesome Ruki glances tiredly
At the sky in effort
The heat bearing down on his head
The Ruki seeks further out for shed

Time slips by, but the young Ruki doesn't notice
Full of fatigue, he begins to lose focus
When suddenly he spots a tent
He hopes there is a fellow Neopet present

To his surprise, it wasn't a trick for his eyes
With remaining strength
He uses his wings and flies
Toward the tent he flew,
And with relief he sees a friend
Waving to the Ruki he descends

In greeting the young Ruki
He hands him some water
He smiles kindly down at his sweet daughter
He sees as she's made
A meal for his return home
They both then settle down
And he tells her of his journey

Worker The Yellow Ruki
by Mamasimios

Worker the yellow Ruki
Left his safe Lost Desert home;
Deciding he'd rather live
In a place that's not so warm

He liked the misty air
He found in the Haunted Woods,
But was kept awake at night
By constant ghostly shrieks and boos

He spent many a season
Labouring on Meri Acres Farm,
But when the Citadel invaded,
He escaped, away from harm

Next, Worker made his way
To the serene and lofty Faerieland,
But when it crashed into the planet,
He had to make another plan

He thought to hide out in Maraqua,
Narrowly escaping Scarblade's plot,
Tried life on the Space Station
And was expelled by Dr Sloth

Despairing that he'd never
Find a home cozy and safe,
Worker finally discovered Moltara,
Where he now excavates the caves

Happy to spend his days in labour
Out of the burning desert sun,
Worker appreciates the lava
That warms his chilled and buggy blood

Island Ruki
by Larkspurlane

Come to my isle at dawn,
When, like a great jewel of fire and light,
The sun glimmers over the horizon
And the sky blazes of a blue
Too intense to be looked at.

Come to my isle at high noon,
When the air quivers
From the heat,
And pulses like a living thing
In the distance, shivering mirages
Of cool lagoons.

Come to my isle at twilight,
When the fireflies winking
Their way to and through
My vine-tangled glades
Mirror the star-dense skies
In small glories
Of white and gold.

Come to my isle for shelter
From the day's heat, or from
Tropical rains -- when heavy drops
Patter musically from leaf to leaf.

Come to my isle and join me,
Here on white sands foam-flecked
By the kiss of the sea,
And dream with me now
Dreams of peace, and of green.

The Life Of A Ruki Shopkeeper
by Fluffiehmedic

Oh look, it's a visitor. I can't believe my eyes.
You've taken your sweet time
And have come to claim a prize.
But you're not on the list.
What's that? Don't you realize
I'm the Keeper of
The Shop of 1,000 Rewards?

How do I earn a living, you ask?
I just sit and wait.
Patience is a virtue and my solely perfect trait.
Sitting in this broken store
Appears to be my fate--
I'm the Keeper of
The Shop of 1,000 Rewards.

I don't sell trinkets
After that wild hullabaloo,
This is a steady job
And I've not much else to do.
Still, it's no surprise that
I turned the color blue,
I'm the Keeper of
The Shop of 1,000 Rewards.

Years ago when I was bored,
As a little joke,
I asked the Sakhmet helpers
For tiny jars of smoke.
These days I know better,
For I was about to choke!
I'm the keeper of
The shop of 1,000 Rewards.

To pass the time I simply count
The bricks left in the wall,
(13) and I wipe the items
Down in my own stall,
I lock it all up tightly
And then asleep I fall,
I'm the keeper of
The shop of 1,000 Rewards.

I do not dream of what won't come,
It's easier that way.
You're not on this list
So you've got naught to say.
Can't claim anything
So you may's well go away--
Yes, I'm the keeper of
The Shop of 1,000 Rewards.

How To Train A Ruki
by Karlynne1964

My arms are puny, my spine is weak.
It’s time I did something about it.
To the academy I’ll go,
So my stats aren’t so low;
My Endurance is especially bleak.

My first hour was torture, my mantra is pain
And my voice is so horribly changed,
My muscles are on fire, how quickly I tire,
I limp away; my exit to arrange.

It’s locked. I can’t leave.
I must find the boss
To say I’ve changed my mind
About getting in shape
I have no excuse, just an ill-formed plan
And a determination to make my escape

A hearty voice enters and my courage flees,
And I noticed the room was suddenly colder.
Cap’n Threelegs was back
And walking toward me
With a large club draped over his shoulder.

“Rookie,” he yelled, in a gravelly growl,
“This be yer firs’ lesson here?”
“It’s Ruki,” I said, a slight hitch in my voice;
I won’t show fear.
“You be lastin’ twice as long as I be thinkin’, Even if you be weak
So I be headin’ yer trainin’
Me self, so to speak.”

My stomach was suddenly flooded with bile
On my face was a sickly grin; Stand tall
I felt the blast from
The pat on my back -- too late!
And I was swatted out into the hall.

I pulled myself up from the floor,
Shaken to the core
And knew the chance to escape
Was almost past.
The Cap’n was closing in
And he waved to his mateys;
To start up another training class.

I found energy somewhere from deep within
And launched myself out of the door
I’ll never darken this doorstep again
My body’s all swollen and sore.

I heard clapping and singing coming from inside
And the Cap’n was singing a tune
"That be one point of Endurance
Attached to yer hide.
What more do you want for a dubloon?"

For The Rukis!
by _forever_and_ever_16

Let's look back to Year Six,
When Rukis were first found to exsist!
It was the 29th day of Swimming
When everyone was introduced
To these tough-skinned citizens,
Their native land is the Lost Desert,
Where they roam on four legs,
With antennas on their heads,
With large eyes,
And a medium size,
These adaptable creatures found their way
Into our hearts and everyday lives!

Now they star in games like Dice Escape,
And one even owns a second hand shoppe!
So, in honor of Rukis all around,
Let's all celebrate before the day runs out!
Grab a book, like Ruki Adventures,
Or start a battle with a Curved Ruki Dagger!
You can even learn some Ruki Legends,
And grab a lime lolly shaped in their image!

Maybe you even want your own Ruki,
So perhaps grab a morphing potion
And join their army of almost 2 million!
They may not be the best to cuddle,
But they'll go on adventures,
And won't be any trouble!

So, get out there and celebrate
These awesome Neopets,
Believe me, you'll have no regrets!
They're painted in colors from fire to pink,
With personalities that will never stink!
So raise your pincers in the air,
The 29th day of Swimming is here!

The Mutant Ruki
by Ghost_watching

From the shadows there does lurk,
A silent monster from the murk,
One foot foreword, one foot back,
Green mandibles go clack-clack-clack.

A rotted curtain pulled aside,
Just to see the world outside.
They're here, they're there,
The Rukis today are everywhere.
Should he stay? Should he go?
Not even the mutant Ruki knows...

A curse did come from a bottle,
Hitting his soul at full throttle,
Darkness here, not a speck of light,
The world outside is just too bright.

So, in a house of damp and mould he fled,
A deep feeling of utter dread,
What would the world throw
That could torment him even more so?

But Ruki Day, here it comes,
A day of pride for sparkling colors,
Nothing duller,
Dare he show his twisted face?
Running and screaming in every place?

Should he stay? Should he go?
Not even the mutant Ruki knows...

The Ruki Mummy
by Kadface

A movement in the darkness,
Groaning in an empty tomb,
A shifting in the grave,
Dimly lit in dank gloom.

The crypt echoes with a crack.
A claw raises to the sky.
With the strain of a century,
The mummy opens one eye.

The earth splits in two
And, rising from the sand,
A Ruki mummy, draped in cloth,
Reaching forward with one hand.

It rolls its head sharply,
Bandages for it's sleeves.
It desires the freedom --
Room to move, air to breathe.

It shuffles listlessly,
And heads toward the light.
Stars dot the gentle sky.
The moon shines down bright.

The mummy is free,
Released from the murk.
Ready to reign with terror --
The Ruki sets to work.

Ruki Mummified
by Jjquil

rattling, clattering, scraping walk
creeping down the hallway, stalk
rotting bandages, hanging slack,
ancient dusty sarcophagus crack

milky eyes unseeing, blind
corroding carapace, moldering mind,
crumbling mummy buried alive,
centuries passed, yet now it thrives

shuffling legs, wandering, lost,
aimless shambling the desert across,
sandstorm winds, tearing, shredding,
gauze wrappings are fluttering, spreading

wilt and wither, o undead one --
scorching beneath the desert sun,
stumble and falter, steps unsure
Ruki on its undead tour.

Ruki Of The Year
by Autotune

Forget not his eyes,
Forget not his smile.
Forget not the days
Of happiness, of hope.

Remember the tears,
Remember the pain;
Remember the goodbyes
Of those days gone by.

So, embrace the reunion,
Embrace your oldest friend;
Embrace quiet forgiveness,
Then moving on, letting go.

Be happy and be glad
That he's come so far,
And grown so tall,
Grown into his wings at last.

Be so proud, now that
He's Ruki of the Year;
Present him with these
Ribbons and trophies

And this pining verse,
These infinite memories
Of those days gone by,
That you've never discarded.
