TECHO DAY SPECIAL

Give Techos a Chance
by Chavo_guerrero

Not so very popular,
Not much in demand,
The Techo is the underdog,
Of each Neopian land.

They are not small and fluffy,
Neither are they big with wings,
It's not difficult to get one,
They don't give avatars or things,

But the reptile face smiles brightly,
Their eyes shine out with joy,
And they're very, very greatful,
If you'll give them just one toy.

A loving little Neopet it's true,
And there's a pleasure to be had,
In owning one of these sweet little guys,
For they're hardly ever bad!

The Techo has intelligence,
Oh yes, the Techo it has smarts,
It loves to write or read a book,
It's great with music or with arts.

So, although they are quite different,
Even if they're not so cute,
Why not try one out today?
But don't give it the boot!

If you adopt a Techo,
Into your family,
Please don't give up on it,
I'm sure that you will see,

That they make a perfect addition,
To any happy home,
And if you have a Techo,
You'll never be alone!

Then give a cheer for Techo Day,
And come join in the fun,
Your life with your new Techo,
Has only just begun!

Tribal Tones of Tekkitu
by Sordid

Strange, the rhythmic, pulsing beat,
That fills the humid night.
Something dark is dwelling near,
You're not alone tonight.
A thudding rumble, deep and strong,
As strange staff hits the ground.
Rattled echo trills through shade,
So sinister that sound.

Dare you part the jungle fronds?
Peer through, what lurks just past?
Dare you risk the Techo's wrath,
The spells that he might cast?
There the witch doctor doth dance,
To tribal, ancient beat.
The sounds that echo jungle's rage,
Are tapped through shifting feet.

With each shake of the wooden staff,
The magic weaves and drifts.
Something in the air doth change,
The realm itself soon shifts.
He throws his head back to the sky,
And gives a tribal yell.
You melt back from the jungle's heart,
Where Tekkitu doth dwell.

The Techo Master
by Tealnova_dragon

High upon the cliffs, in a small warm building,
Sits the Techo Master, deep in meditation.
Still as silent pond water,
And in just as deep.
You can hear not a whisper of breath,
Not a single movement at all.

You hand over a shaking codestone,
And he puts it to rest,
The stone falls still - like you, like him,
It has found its own happy place.
Delightful.

His wisdom is immense, so tap into it!
Do not stand there, merely waiting!
Scour the land for codestones,
Come back for more skill
He'll be there. Always.
Will you?
For when the student is ready,
The teacher is there.

The Buzzer Game Techo
by Dr_tomoe

I see you there,
you look at me.
My hand is steady
as you can see.

I slowly move
the metal hoop.
If I pass this test,
then I'm top of the group.

The Techo stares
with unblinking eye.
Even with him, watch me
I'll pass on the first try.

He sticks out his tongue.
My hand goes still.
My hand still steady
thanks to my iron will.

Slowly moving the hoop
as the wire starts to bend
I will not fail and you can't stop me
my distracting Techo friend.

His eyes glow red
I do not move.
The master nods
he does approve.

I approach the end
the Techo looks on
I shall beat this final test
of the training I've undergone.

Just a bit more
my hand is steady.
Wait, what was that sound he just made?
BBBBBZZZZZTTTT!!!!!!!
...
I wasn't ready.

Alone in the Desert
by Tanikagillam

The sun shone into the little hut,
A burning golden glow.
He sat by the window, gazing at the sky,
As the sand outside shifts constantly so.

He twirled his staff absentmindedly,
While the sandstorm raged strong.
He was all alone, he felt so lost,
For some company did he long.

Velm the Techo, his bright red skin,
Was waiting for what seemed like forever.
Alone in the desert, when could he leave?
He thought it would surely be never.

Days became months, months became years,
Oh, how he longed to leave that place.
He was drifting, waiting for something,
And someone to put the smile back on his face.

His magic was rusty, his reactions slow,
He didn't even look up when they came in.
But he heard them, he felt them,
And they soon took notice of him.

He joined their quest, he felt anew!
As he leapt up off his seat.
He ran away with them,
And never looked back,
For he had some monsters to defeat!

Kelland, The Thief With The Golden Heart
by Water_flow_270

The poor farmer had worked hard all day.
Finally, he received his well-earned pay,
But a burglar came and took it away.
Now, he trudged through the path back home;
Penniless, hungry, and alone.

Suddenly, a sparkle on the ground.
And to his surprise, there he found,
All his savings, safe and sound.
With a letter, to them bound:
"Rest assured, I shall always be around."

He looked up and down, left and right,
Yet he couldn't find, try as he might,
The hero that had saved his night.
For there was not a soul in sight;
He had surely already taken flight.

He knew, however, who it was.
A brave hero with neither claws nor jaws,
Who fought for the poor just because.
Kelland the thief, best at what he does,
With thrice as many attributes as flaws

And the farmer thought, as he grabbed his gold,
"He'll pass on to be the nicest hero of old,
Of him, a million tales shall be told.
For he's different than any other thief;
He's one that follows his beliefs."

Techo Says...
by Ladygaladriel213

Chia! Chia! Mynci! Blumaroo!
You shake your head -
You don't know what to do!

Quiggle! Quiggle! Moehog! Kacheek!
You run around and yell out: "Eeeek!!!!"

Never have you ever seen
A Techo quite like this before.
His ruby red scales reflect the light
As you tell him, "I'm not sure."

BEEP! Goes the buzzer
Was it Moehog or was it Blumaroo?
Smacking your head doesn't help
You forget what the Techo told you to do!

His eyes are as hard as onyx
A glint flashes there as he smells defeat.
You scan around left and right
Weighing the options of battle and retreat.

Quickly you tap a Neopet
The head soft and furry.
You quickly pan to the next Neopet
Suddenly in a great hurry.

You feel the sweat drip down your face
You really must hurry, must pick up the pace!

Time ticks by in a whirlwind of light
Hurry now, you can make this right!

"Techo says..." his voice echoes softly
Caressing your ears with the gentle tone.
But you know it's a mask of wording
You saw it in the way his eyes had shone.

In a mad dash and frenzy,
You think you finally have the game beat.
But when you look up at the Techo
You find his eyes writ large with defeat.

Not his own, mind you,
But yours, and he gloats just so.
But how can you mind this?
It's his game - that wily Techo.

If only you'd done what he said
That is the name of the game.
Merely mimicking his instructions
Doing everything the same.

Techo says... happy Techo Day!

Kelland the Thief
by Jokerless

Be wary of darkness
As night falls upon
Those victim to him
Their wallets are gone

Swift as the wind
Silent as the grave
A practiced crook
It's a pursuit he craves

A dagger in hand
Swathed in a cloak
There's nothing on him
As the law he's revoked

Stealing from the wealthy
Snatching some treasure
For the good of the poor
That's his pleasure!

So now you know of
A hero who steals
For those less fortunate
So their dreams become real

A Letter To A Techo
by Jjquil

pristine white lab coat,
eyes like ice
that hard expression,
silently judging,
so precise.

you wanted to change the world.

to help homeless neopets,
but what you found
was that for every 'pet that goes home
five more take its place
in the pound.

a harsh reality.

what more can you do
but glare and scowl
at those who come in to abandon.
those fair-weather friends
are so foul.

dr_death, don't you see?

you are helping, after all
even if it is just one at a time
won't you smile
just for today?
so sublime.

The Techo's Day
by Indulgences

The Techo's day is here at last
And let all Neopians see
The marvelous sensation that
The Techo strives to be!

A temperament as fine as silk
And eyes of softest green
Do complement a lovely mind
That's kind as well as keen.

A tail that's limber, strong and true,
Do balance two hind feet.
A winning smile completes its look,
With dimples pure and sweet!

Let's celebrate this Techo Day
With feasting and good cheer!
The Techo's day comes only once
In every Neopian year!
