The Faerie Caverns
By Ktkdk

A little bit ago I checked the New Features
And saw that the adorable little creature
That was chosen second in the Petpet vote
Was out in Neopia so upon it we could dote.

I wondered where it could be bought,
But did not find the information I sought.
They simply said with a sly little grin
That the faerie caverns were where to begin.

I went there only to see there's a toll,
So four hundred Neopoints I did dole.
I walked along until I came to a spot
That made me pause a while in thought.

A fork in the road! Do I go left or right?
The idea of choosing wrong gave me a fright.
Thinking they were going to trick me, I did say,
"The left side looks better, so I'll go the other way."

Another choice?! Now what will I do?
So I just picked randomly between the two.
After I chose my direction, I continued on.
I was so sure that I had almost won.

"Only one last decision, this is a breeze!"
I thought to myself as I chose with ease.
I turned a corner and was in the dark.
I should have known I missed my mark.

But I continued onward without sight,
Rethinking my decision to go to the right.
I was too distracted to sense the pit below,
And I fell right in and stubbed my toe.

"Tomorrow I will get that prize at the end!
I'm sure it was just around the other bend."
So the next day, to the caverns I came,
But when I tried, I failed just the same.

I have determination! I have spirit!
I will conquer the cavern rather than fear it!
I can't wait for another chance to try.
I'll keep going until my bank account is dry.

My Old Faerieland
By Erroro

I walked through Faerieland,
My feet squishing in the sand.
I started to remember,
When it was above the land.

It was cotton-candy clouds,
Full of liveliness and sounds,
There was an Aisha dreaming of math
And another Neopet taking a rainbow bath.

In the city there were many stores.
They all sold faerie items galore!
The sweet smell hung in the air,
And no matter, everyone cared.

That was what Faerieland was.

But when the faeries were turned to stone,
Suddenly we were all alone.

I fought wraiths with all of my might;
I sorted books, hoping they were right.
I helped stabilise an energy ball.
Only hoping Faerieland wouldn't fall.

When Faerieland crashed, nothing was the same.
I guess only Xandra is the one to blame.

They rebuilt it on the ground, and there it stayed.
But whenever I pass it, I say,
"I helped save that.
Because even if it crashed,
Faerieland is bound to last!"

Ode to the White Weewoo
By Tanikagillam

For as long as I can remember,
I've loved reading the Neopian Times.
I love it almost as much as the Poetry Contest,
Oh, how I love reading through those rhymes.

But I'll admit there sure is something,
That sets the Times above the rest.
Something that appears in every issue,
Something that makes it the very best.

The beautiful white Weewoo, sitting proud,
In the corner of every page,
Smiling down at each reader,
Gazing down from the top of the stage.

So far from the shores of Krawk Island,
Having travelled so very far from home.
All the way to the Neopian Times,
To claim the newspaper for its own.

The beautiful white Weewoo, chirping softly,
Reading happily through our words.
The stories, the articles, and the comics,
Everything pleases this little bird.

It sits quietly atop each and every page,
Watching each person read through.
Pay attention, next time you check the Times,
You might notice the white Weewoo,
Smiling down at you.

Krawk Island
By Zaria_zucaro

Today I took a boat to Krawk Island,
Just to find all the Neopets smiling.
I stopped at Little Nippers,
Only to check my wallet's zippers:
I have thousands and thousands of Dubloons!
I stayed at the island for at least three moons;
I headed over to play Bilge Dice,
And what appeared in front of my eyes?
A Krawk, of course!
I grabbed that Petpet by the tail,
But then I heard him wail.
I knew it was a rare find;
He was definitely one of a kind!
I held that Krawk in my arms,
Listening to those pirates' yarns.
One of them started to wave;
He asked me if I'd seen that cave.
I had before,
But didn't know what it was for.
So that pirate led me and my Krawk
Past the dock,
And we landed near Smugglers Cove.
"This cave has tasty fungus," he proclaimed.
'Twas night and the moon just had waned.
The Krawk ate some fungus,
And I couldn't believe what he did among us!
He started to GROW, GROW, GROW!
It was quite a show:
He grew a spiky mane;
His face didn't look the same;
He got longer claws
And giant paws!
The pirate said, "He grew into a Neopet!"
I touched the Krawk, who felt slimy and wet.
I decided to name him,
But what? Brock? Charlie? Bone? Schwinn?
What about Lyrick?
I knew I should name him after the pirate,
"I shall name you..."

I awoke with a start.
It was a dream, from the heart.
I was disappointed that it was only a dream,
But then again,
Now I had something to try tomorrow.

An Ode to the Mystery Pic
By Lostinthemists

For three straight days I've tried to see
What in the world this thing could be.
I've started to regret my click
On the link for the Mystery Pic.

It's so familiar, I could swear
I've seen this image everywhere.
Just WHAT it is, though, that's the "fun"
Of getting this new challenge done.

A faerie wing? A pyramid?
A meteor? A gold Nerkmid?
Something from that old quest last year?
A Negg from near the Snowager?

I stared at pixels 'til I cried,
then turned the image on its side.
That's not much better. Now it looks
Like one of twenty thousand books.

I flip it, spin it, change the size,
hoping that before my eyes
an image might present itself
and put that trophy on my shelf.

The answer to this, I am sure,
is something that is so obscure
that even the great minds behind it
would be quite hard-pressed to find it.

Is it a Yurble? That can't be.
Maybe it's the Money Tree!
Not green enough. Esophagor?
The Lawyerbot? South Altador?

I run my fingers through my hair
And give the image one last stare,
When finally, it dawns on me!
I know just what this thing must be!

I type my entry, send it in,
And with a tired, happy grin
Know that I've just won the crown
By spotting dung that's upside-down.
