The Month of Hunting
By Schefflera

Now tally-ho! The hunt is on!
We'll find the thing we're seeking.
From deepest sea to full of moon
From woods to cavern reeking.

Tyrannia may hold its lair,
Or smugglers have it sanded.
We'll seek it in the castled air!
Oh wait, the faeries landed.

So let's try in the Citadel,
Or Shenkuu's mountains misty.
It could be down the Wishing Well
Or on the Isle of Mystery.

In desert or on rolling wave,
We'll race it, catch it, bind it!
You ask our prey? We only say,
We'll know it when we find it.

Commodore Rigney Birkin, Inventor
By Crystallizedginger

They say this work's too hard for me.
"There's no room for you in this industry!"
But I'll show them, I'll show them all;
Creating's my passion, gears are my call.

The warmth of the fire, the glow of the coals
Could ignite a fire in the coldest of souls.
No age can change the joy I find;
This craft left an imprint in my mind.

They call me old, even senile,
But I just turn my head and smile.
They don't know what they're missing --
The glory of sparks, the soft steam hissing!

I've been in this trade since I was eight,
Sickly and weak and underweight,
But as I learned, I grew stronger,
As the hours I spent at the bellows grew longer.

And even now, when I'm eighty-three,
I can look back and see how it's changed me:
From young and naive, not knowing my worth,
To bold and adventurous, I could take on the earth!

Lost Desert Lullaby
By Saphira_27

Swirling silver sand is quiet
Under ice-white crescent moon.
No harsh heat of deadly days;
Silken breezes shape the night.

See the shining spires above
Sakhmet and Qasala gleam.
Rivalries are put to rest;
Simple people sleep in peace.

Hear the sighing on the wind,
Horus crying in the palms,
Thrumming of the Scarabugs;
Nature's night-nose softly hums.

Gebmids stand as sentinels;
Wild night-magic sparks and swirls.
Solid stone and light of life
Flow as lifeblood for a world.

So sing a song of shifting sands,
Whisper secrets sealed so long,
Star-marked midnights, shadows deep
Wait for us in desert dreams.

Belonthiss
By Guddi6

Ethereal, the ocean realm,
Where moonbeams skim the surface,
And leave alight the silky blue
To slash through seamless ebon place.
Far below, from hidden deep,
All life doth ebb and flow,
And high above, far away, something keens...
While waves cascade to shore.
From core of waters, moving past,
Weaving upward, sinuous, twines,
Spark of indigo amidst the aqua,
Lost within the waves so fine.
The waters shift as creature moves
Effortless, the journey made,
Subtle cut and slash, swift,
Barriers dissuade.
Surface stirs, ripples branch,
As satin purple facade doth appear,
Aloft are gleaming opal fins,
Edged with deep saffron, shining clear.
Streaks of violet paint elegant form,
Creature flows from sea to sky,
Clothed in gushing breeze, born of sea,
Ever freed to fly.

The Eight Bit Poem
By Ilovemycatembers

Tomorrow is 8-Bit Day, so please,
Send in your 8-bit poems by 9:00 A.M. NST.

I read this over and smiled,
This was an exciting offer for me.

But what, I wondered, is an 8-bit poem?
It had to mean eight verses, I concluded.

So I grabbed paper and pen,
And paced and wrote and brooded.

And now I have my eight bit poem!
I have to say I'm pretty proud.

You can imagine my surprise when the editor
Let me know it wasn't allowed!

This isn't quite what we had in mind,
That is what I was told.

How was I to know 8-bit was a colour?
I slunk home to watch 8-bit Day unfold.
